Best BBQ
I have cooked beef, pork, chicken and fish on this BBQ and each time it is perfect! It heats up quickly and is easy to clean with the brush after each use. It cooks for 4 people comfortably - including veggies. I bought the warming rack and the flat hot plate to go with it but I find I hardly use those. I do use the aluminium trays with a baking rack for the more tender meats or for those cuts which require longer cooking at lower heats. I also use some wood chips for smoking as well - and also the big blocks of wood which I find actually give a smokier flavour. I use it regularly regardless of the weather. Always gives a nice char and flavour to anything I make.

Why two wheels?
Well, last week I purchased a Weber family Q. I have cooked on it three times. Let me say straight up its brilliant!
I however have to move it away from the house as it can be a little smokey, and that's fine until you try moving it.
Why, oh why did they not put four wheels on? For the life of me I can't see what good two wheels serve. Its extremely difficult to move around. How much harder would it have been to put four wheels?

Great BBQ!
The Weber Q family is a perfect size. Lots of room to cook but isn't a bulky unit. Cooks steaks perfectly. So easy to clean and I love all the accessories that you can purchase to enhance cooking eg.pizza stone. Very happy with the bbq so far, an excellent purchase.

Best BBQ I've ever used!
I have had my Weber Family Q for many years and have used it almost daily. Very simple to use and the continuous ignition fires up the bbq everytime. No matter if you are cooking for one for cooking for a party of twenty this barbque can handle it. It has a huge cooking area. I got an additional solid cooling plate so you can do the meat on one side and the onions and eggs on the other side at the same time. I also got the trolley and the side tables are a really handy feature to put all the prep stuff on, and hang the utensils from. For a larg...Read more
e barbeque the gas seems to last for months and months (as I said I use it almost daily). Being a closed cooking system, my wife has even make lasagne and baked cakes in the barbeque. My version has a temperature gage in the lid which is very handy. This is a terrific barbeque and if and when it's time to replace it, I will definitely replace it with another Weber QSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Cannot understand why I keep burning everything after following instructions carefully.
Tried doing steaks on the open plate and didn't like the burnt taste so purchased a solid one. OK lets try a roast. Got the trivet etc and followed the instructions only to find everything burning. What am I doing wrong never had such a problem before. Maybe it is just trial and error who knows. Also found assembling instructions a bit confusing.

Enjoyable cooking experience
Yes the weber is expensive for what it is, but I bought it based on feedback from weber owners and the service reputation which seems to be the best in the biz. Really enjoy cooking on the Weber, roasting meats is amazing, with an Aldi remote temp probe for 15 bucks it becomes the perfect cooker that really brings out the flavor of your meat. Its compact and takes up less room than our old BBQ and cooks better of course!

Best BBQ
The best bbq we feed a family of 4 every night with it does the best job . It is a great size for storage and very easy to use . It is fantastic for roasts, steak, even casseroles and cakes. Pretty much does anything your oven can do without heating up the house.
Low on gas usage and cooks things so quick.
Its great that it does not take up too much room and is nowhere as bulky as other types of BBQs

Unbelievable Roasts
Purchased this when we moved into our new home. cant get over how well it does roast. We hosted Christmas at our place and did roast pork and roast turkey on it and turned out amazing. The Family Q had plenty of space to fit it all in. Cant wait for summer to begin using it again

Much better than old style BBQ
To compaired this to a traditional BBQ would be an insult to the Weber Q. For starters it's very portable so you no longer also need to own a portable stove. It cools very evenly and the heat is very good. At times can be hard to clean because everything is smaller compaired to a BBQ but there doesn't appear to be us much mess than compaired to a BBQ. Over all love taking my weber out

So useful
I have my BBQ outside on the deck, it does have a cover on it however i have had no issues with it being in the rain and storms. It cooks extreamly well and i have had some great T-bone steaks done on it. It is easy to keep clean, however i do make sure i clean after every use to make it easier.
i love that it has a stand and its very compact yet big enough for the family.

No need for an oven
Easy to use and clean. Roasts are so juicy snd tender that I will never use my oven again to cook meat. Temperature control is excellent and to date I haven't burnt anything. We have even bought a second one for my parents who now use it everyday with ease

Great all around cooking
I have had numerous BBQ's over the time - mainly the cheap bunnings variety given how much difference can exist - it's a metal plate and a heat source? Wrong wrong wrong - the weber just seems to cook food more evenly with the lid design, it runs on a fraction of the gas and the cleanup is significantly easier (not to mention no rust!)

SO GOOD
OMG do yourself a favour and get one of these. Everything comes out better than any normal BBQ. Cooking chicken breasts on the grill come out juicy! Roasts melt in your mouth. Best BBQ ever. Have to cook with lid down all the time. Accessories are VERY expensive but you don't need too many.

Excellent BBQ but with certain flaws
The Good, the Bad and the Tasty -
The Bad:-
While assembling this BBQ I was well disappointed how cheap the parts feel. Cheap chinese plastic and thin aluminium. Vinyl sheet on the front.... For a BBQ in the $815rrp (AUD) bracket this was not a premium feeling bbq I expected. For that price range you can easily find something more sturdy and solid such as the Ziggler. In saying that the final product does seem to come together fine and I'm confident it will last if I take care.
I was looking through Webers catalogue and found all the o...Read more
ptional accessories way over priced and frankly some of these accessories should have been included in the box. I am not confident buying any more Weber gear judging by quality in the first purchase. I am not happy with the price tag on these products either. So there definitely seems to be a "Brand Tax" on these accessories. I will be going aftermarket for my accessories The GOOD:-Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

cleaning
after bringing my bbq home i assembled it and found that it really is made of cheap plastic and is very flimsy the cooking part of the bbg is fine but the trolley is rubbish and the wheels even worse
i cooked a roast leg of pork which turned out fantastic so i give it about 8 out of 10 for cooking the trolly about a 3
then to clean it what a pain in the backside used a large plastic container of really hot soapy water the cooking grates
took about 20 minutes to clean i tryed webers own bbq cleaner that did not help so i give cleaning 3 out of 10

not a fan
I know lots of people love their webers but I would never buy another. The circular pattern of the flame makes it impossible to bbq two different items at the same time (one on a high flame and one on a low). Meat is always undercooked on ours as it never gets hot enough quickly enough to cook rapidly. Maybe if I cooked a lot of hamburgers, hot dogs or thanksgiving turkeys it would be OK but for steak and snags it is more like an oven and very underwhelming as a BBQ. The worst part is the 45 minute battle to empty and replace the fat drip tray ...Read more
that requires tugging and pulling the metal tray out from underneath the unit. What should be the simplest operation on a bbq requires a PHd in advanced engineering to undertake and always results in spilt fat all over the verandah. I can't wait for ours to die so I have an excuse to buy a good old fashioned (and frankly much cheaper) BBQ to replace it.1 comment

Hi Otis, thanks for your feedback.
I'd love to help you get the best from your barbecue, so can I ask a few questions? ... Read more
As you have a Family Q, have you tried leaving the middle (small knob) burner off if you're cooking a few things that cook at different rates? If you let me know what you're trying to cook, I can give you more specific hints to help. The barbecue uses convective heat when the lid is down, similar to an oven, but it still should get hot enough to sear steaks and cook sausages- if you don't think that it is getting to the temperature it should be, then please call us on 1300 301 290 and we can delve a little deeper into that issue. There could be some issues with the gas connections. You shouldn't have to tug and struggle with the drip tray; it slides in and out easily to the side for cleaning. I'd happily talk you through it if you would like. We're here to help you get the best from your barbecue, so please feel free to call or email any time either by the number above or [email protected]. Thanks Otis.Similar opinion? Grill plates falling off due to warped BBQ cook box
I had an issue a few months after purchase, where the grill plates of my Weber Family Q (Premium) have started falling off into the cook box. I suspect the problem is due to the cook box having warped.
Weber support staff have confirmed that they are aware of the issue. However, they have insisted that the issue is not a design problem, but instead blamed me, saying that I probably made the BBQ too hot.

than 25 minutes (i.e. both knobs on according to the manual), the BBQ cook box may warp. Although Weber did agree to send me spare parts, dealing support staff became too much of a hassle, as they kept asking for ever more photos. So I found a very simple fix that resolved the issue: Buy some steel stripping from Bunnings. In my case, I had a few mesh panel fix clips (part number 3060012), which are the perfect size. Put them into your vice and bend into an L-shape, with a little U on top to hold on to the box. Make 8 of these brackets, put them on the box and place the grills on top. The clips hold the grills in place, even if the box is warped. It's an easy 10-minute fix and with the clips, my Weber BBQ has worked beautifully without problems for the last six months. I hope this review helps others who are experiencing the same issue. Unfortunately, I can't post photos of the brackets here, but I will post a video on YouTube one day if I have time.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Questions & Answers
Dawnasked
Hi we have a Weber family Q for over 10 years. It doesn’t have a thermometer but I’d like to cook a roast of beef in it. Where should I have the gauge set please?
Eugene G.asked
Bought Q3100 model and when installing noticed no temperature gauge. Extremely surprised that for the price paid there was none.
Question - Can I replace the lid for the one that does have it and pay the difference? Temperature is absolutely everything in bbq and I would have not purchased it if I knew that it came without it.
P.S. My brother has the same model for many years and it came with the thermostat included. Brilliant bbq and that is why i invested into one, but mine is without thermostat is making it obsolete.
