Hi we have a Weber family Q for over 10 years. It doesn’t have a thermometer but I’d like to cook a roast of beef in it. Where should I have the gauge set please?
Eugene G.asked
Bought Q3100 model and when installing noticed no temperature gauge. Extremely surprised that for the price paid there was none.
Question - Can I replace the lid for the one that does have it and pay the difference? Temperature is absolutely everything in bbq and I would have not purchased it if I knew that it came without it.
P.S. My brother has the same model for many years and it came with the thermostat included. Brilliant bbq and that is why i invested into one, but mine is without thermostat is making it obsolete.

Hi I would like to buy a family Weber but I need to be able to sit it on my outdoor kitchen bench. Can you buy them without the cart like the 2000 and the baby? Or is there a way I can use it without the cart?

Stuart P.asked
Hi! I've just bought a Weber family Q 3100. Are there attachments for this BBQ so I can use a wok on it? (There's one for the Weber Spirit, but I can't tell if they'll work for the Q3100 family) Stuart
2 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Stuart, there are no grills (like the Spirit and other Premium Gas barbecues) that has a GBS grill, which is what you need to have a wok sit inside the grill near the flames.
If you want to create stir fry on the Q's, we suggest you use something like our Q Ware Frying Pan :)https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/preparation-and-serving/specialty-accessories/q-ware-frying-pan-large/991155.html#q=frying%2Bpan&lang=en_AU&start=1
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your help

i'm trying to complete the warranty card and can't find the serial number. could you please advise where to look for it?
2 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Maxie, the serial number will be on the back of the frame on a white sticker. If it's not on the frame, it will be under the side tables. It's also on the front of the owner's guide you would have got with your barbecue.
Thanks team, found label on back of frame well done.

Hi
I have a 3100 in Asia; its Hooked up the a 7kg bottle but I wonder if theres an adaptor or something I can use to allow it to hook up to a small portable propane can like the Q1250 models do? And whether this would provide enough gas from a 500g camp canister for example, to heat the 3100 for one-two cooks?
Thanks

Can I buy a thermometer and install on the lid for Q 3109
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Andrea, we don't recommend that you retrofit a thermometer into the lid of a Standard Model Q (like the 3100). You can purchase one of our many thermometer accessories like the iGrill range, Instant Read thermometer and the Snapcheck thermometer and these will be able to give you an accurate reading on the temperature of your barbecue.
Robert M.asked
I have one and do love it. I'm considering adding the Weber Q Rotisserie (Q300/Q3000 series). What size is the largest chicken/turkey one could put in it or leg of lamb? I think Rotisserie still has the edge for roasting a piece of meat. The Q does produce the best crackling on pork.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Robert, you've got 6kgs to play with on the Family Q Rotisserie- that's the weight limit.
So that could be 3, 2kg Chickens, 2, 3kg legs of lamb, etc. Hope that helps!
Anthony S.asked
I have just bought a roasting trivet for my Family Q but i currently have a a half grill half hotplate on my bbq.
Can I use the Trivet with the half hotplate installed or do i need to change it back to a full grill setup befroe using the trivet for roasting?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Anthony, best to roast or bake with both grills in, rather than a half-hotplate & grill combo. This is for optimal airflow and heat levels, with the convective-style of heat that our barbecues use to roast/bake. Hope this helps!
Andrewasked
Thinking about buying the Webber Q 3100. How easy is it to roast with? How do you make sure that your roasting at the right temp? Many thanks in advance.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Andrew, great to hear you're considering one of our products! We're happy to help in any way we can.
Our barbecues are known for their versatility, and this includes roasting. The guides, recipes and any other material we produce are written by setting, rather than by temperature. We do this so that no matter what model you buy (Standard 3100 or the Premium 3200), you'll be able to cook the same.
We have guides that will give you an estimated cook time by weight, which helps you know when your roast is ready. We also have thermometer accessories available if you want to be accurate.
Let us know if you need any further clarification Andrew.
Eugenia P.asked
Hi we are thinking of buying the family q3100 is there too much assembling required?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Eugenia, the Family Q models will require some assembly with the cart, as it comes flat packed in the box. The Q itself just needs the lid put on, and attached to the frame. If that is too much assembly, then you can always ask the store you purchase it from if they offer an assembly service. If they don't, we have technicians that can assemble it for you for a fee.
Let me know if you need any more help with that. Thanks

Can I get a thermostat for my new 3100. Or can I get a3200 lid to fit my 3100. Received a 3100 as a birthday present
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Alan, happy birthday! What a great present :)
While you can't get a thermometer to be retro-fitted to your current lid, you are able to buy the 3200 lid from our head office, as the body of the Q is the same across both models. You can call us on 1300 301 290 to place that order.
Alternatively, you can look at our thermometer accessory range which can be browsed here: https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/cooking/igrill-and-thermometers/

Just wondering we bought the Weber Q3100 model! Love it
Can the BBQ be detached from the trolley!
As we want to mount it onto bench top (outdoors) to be used without the trolley?
Thank you
2 answers
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Kimmytom, thanks for your question. The Family Q models (3100 & 3200) cannot be separated from the carts- if you want a built-in model, then the Q3600 is what you're looking for. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you so much :)
Staceyasked
Hi Weber is the thermometer a huge difference when BBQ new to buying all this
2 answers
I would say yes it allows you to know what the temp is without thermometer your guessing
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Stacey, we assume you're looking at differences between a Standard model Family Q (3100) and the Premium model Family Q (3200); we can help you with that!
The main differences are:
- the 3200 (premium model) has a higher domed lid, electronic continuous spark igniter, and a thermometer in lid.
- the 3100 (standard model) has a slightly lower lid, one-push one-spark piezo igniter and no thermometer.
While it is not essential to have a thermometer in your lid, it can help give you an indication of what is happening inside the barbecue without having to open the lid.
That being said, we write all of our recipes to be cooked by setting, rather than by temperature, so you can cook anything on either model regardless of if you have a thermometer.
QPOasked
The family Q manual stated that the min gas bottle size is 9kg. Will there be a problem if I use a 3.7kg bottle?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi QPO, we recommend 4.5kg to 9kg bottles for our Q range, depending on the size. The size of the bottle recommended is what all of our testings are based on, so things like amount of cooking time, etc are all based on a 9kg bottle in the Family Q's case. You just won't get as many cooks from a 3.7kg bottle, so you have to monitor your gas levels carefully so you don't run out mid-cook (it won't be used in one cook, but it will be used quicker than a 9kg bottle obviously). Let us know if you need any further help :)
John C.asked
I have accidentally bought a natural gas BBQ. How do I convert for LPG?
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi John, thanks for your message. If you haven't used the barbecue, then you may be able to return it through the place of purchase to exchange- check with your store in the first instance.
If they won't accept the barbecue, you can organise a gas conversion through our head office. You will need to have your serial number handy when you call 1300 301 290. We will run you through the process and any costs involved.
Let us know if you need any more information. Thanks John.

Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi Peter, yes you can order a new lid if you would like- you can do so by calling our head office on 1300 301 290. They can give you a price there.
Before you do though, have you tried using our Weber Q cleaner on the stains? It can be left on for up to 6 hours for stubborn stains, before being washed off with a warm wet cloth.
