Model bj513v-R*11
Seems like we all have the same problems with this model. Fridge gets too warm, freezer to cold...grr, not to mention the alarm continuously activating probably due to the CN-ER that keeps on flashing even after having thermostat replaced...bur! Time to cough up Westinghouse and gift us all with a new fridge. Wishful thinking

Seems like Westinghouse now wants me to get their tech out to look at the prob, fix it and pay for it myself. Grrrrr funny how this model has the same faults with same response from Westinghouse. ... Read more
This Model should have been recallled and consumers reinburst. I think this is a consumers affairs matter now. After 20yrs of the same perfect fridge & customer service from F&P serviced a few times, but never let me down and still hasnt is now the back up fridge. thought I would upgrade, oh how wrong was I.Hi Michael,

I have the report from your tech and it seems the wire wiring in the cabinet is faulty between the board and clock harness and is unrepairable. This fridge is still under the 5yr warranty, please advise if Westinghouse will replace?Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Absolute shocker
Just out of warranty, Electronic board has packed up. Too bad that Westinghouse can't be forced to replace this known faulty item free of charge. Along with the majority of other reviewers, I will never again purchase a Westinghouse product, we had to get rid of a Westinghouse dishwasher as well.
Ok for a2.5 years, although a bit noisy
Electronics are lousy.

Westinghouse Refrigerator Fails Me This Time!
When it comes to brands of refrigerators, the first one that comes into my mind is Westinghouse. I and my siblings grew up knowing this brand most among others. This is the brand that our parents bought for our home. With the number of brands in the market nowadays, it is hard to choose which one to purchase. Therefore, when I bought this model/unit, I had in mind the reputation that Westinghouse had left in my head for three decades. Not to mention the good sales talk by a Harvey Norman staff.
ADVANTAGES: We bought the BJ513V Model. ...Read more
I love the idea of having the freezer located at the bottom. Since most of the things that we need from the fridge will be kept and taken from the top part, I thought that would be convenient for me. The individual shelves are adjustable. Thus, I have the option to make the spaces in between them higher or lower, depending on necessity. The compartments for the vegetables and fruits are humidity controlled, having said that, they stay fresh much longer even for several weeks. I can also separate the fruits from vegetables since there are two compartments allotted in the fridge. There is also included a stainless wine or bottle rack which can be levelled in whichever shelf you prefer it on. For me, this looks beautiful and classy. The door side compartments are great in the sense that it looks like an organizer. I like the small compartment where you can store and lock medicines or even beauty creams that need refrigeration. It is also located near the top therefore, kids cannot reach them.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

NIce fridge, shame about the controller board!
I bought the BJ513V six year ago and have just experienced what I see many others have... the freezer is too cold and the fridge section has no cold air at all. As with other reviewers my repairman said this is a common problem with this Westinghouse model. Apparently the main controller board has a fault that results in the compressor being activated when the freezer is in the auto de-frost cycle. This causes the unit to work hard (waste energy) and to build up even more frost and ice in the back of the freezer. And, when this build up of ice ...Read more
blocks the moving baffle that allows cold air to be transferred to the fridge you end up with no cold air in your fridge (as the cold air to the fridge comes from the freezer). I have now had too enpty the freezer three times in two weeks to allow the build up of ice to clear. Once it is clear the fridge will again get cold, but as soon as the defrost kicks in again there will be a new build up of ice and eventually (after approx 3 days in out climate) the same problem with the baffle occurs. End result - this design fault costs a lot of money in wasted energy and it is a hit to the hip pocket to have the controller board replaced. All together I like this fridge - but with this problem I will definately be asking around before buying another Westinghouse. Good look, excellent size and love the fridge on top configuration Expect the main controller board to eventually fail (after 4 to 6 years) and cost approx $450 to repairSimilar opinion? Terrible
Given this control board failure is very common with Westinghouse fridges, I will NEVER BUY A WESTINGHOUSE OR ELECTROLUX. Their service dpeartment was useless as well.
Looks good, very functional fridge
Control board failed after just 3 years (so out of warranty). Estimated repair bill from Westinghouse is $500 vs $270 from local repair man. Incidentally, local repair man commented that the control board always fails in this model.

OK
Wouldnt buy Westinghouse again, service was ok, although repairman did take about 3/4 days before he came back with new circuit board, thank god I had another fridge downstairs, albeit very inconvenient!!!
BJ513V-R - Love upside down fridge/freezers would never go back to "standard" fridge, great space in fridge for platters etc and bulky items, huge freezer space
Fingerprints on stainless steel door! Fridge broke down after 6 years, fridge was warm (would expect more from W/house) defrosted twice, still nothing, turns out circuit board stuffed!! $295 later!!!

Fan behind freezer panel was working, elements frosted over, lights coming on, everything seemed ok ... Further investigation found the Large Panel in the main part of the fridge, pulled it all to bits, found the SEAL that directs the air through the channel and up to the top of the fridge had collapsed and was obstructing the flow of cold air from the freezer up into the fridge. Am running the fridge without the panel at all at themoment to see if it has solved the problem completely, then will refit the panel once am certain it has fixed the problem. Incidently, like everyone elses my Blue LCD Display and controller on this fridge crapped it out after only a measley 1 year of ownership ! Pulled the panel and display out, left it on the desk for 4 hours, plugged it back in and it works perfect again now ! Healing hands ? Maybe ... Luck Maybe ? ... Who knows, am happy now its all working again :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

liked the style and design and was a good size
very disappointed in the door shelves they broke within 2 years were they attach, Had problems with the temperature in the fridge part and had to get the thermostat replaced and has just happened again 17 months later. not good enough for a fridge that is only 5 years old

Would not purchase a Westinghouse again. Food would constantly freeze in the fridge - even after two services within 18 months of purchase.
Large Storage Capacity, lots of shelves and storage bins, wine rack a good feature, electronic controls
The fridge kept freezing the food - even after many adjustments to the temperature controls. Thermostat was replaced after 3 months of purchase - 12 months later needed replacing again!! Only a 18 month old fridge - not impressed!

Good
Looks good, practical, works well but a bit noisey. Shelf space is all good but upper shelves may be a problem if your hight disadvantaged
It's a fridge. Everything works well. The freezer on the bottom is the best back saver yet, especially if you are over 6ft tall like me.
Is it just me, or is this fridge especially noisey? My Father in law can hear the compressor start and he is stone deaf. This compressor is twice as loud as our 15 year old fridge it replaced and as loud as our dishwasher for the first few seconds on compressor start.

I will NOT be purchasing westinghouse again! It is very annoying when my vegetables are frozen..having to either throw them out or thaw them..not happy!
Space, Size, Nice Look
Freezes things inside the fridge..like others say here..for such a pricey fridge with a supposedly good name i am quite disappointed.

Excellent
Have the model BJ514V for 3 months now and it is running nicely. It was jam packed with food over christmas and it still kept overything cold. I am definetly VERY happy with this fridge/freezer.
BJ514V - It has great storage space, specially the vegie drawers. I really love the upside down idea. So good to open the fridge and not have to bend down to see what is hiding at the back, specially with a sore back! door shelves are very spacious too. The drawers of the freezer slide out nicely to reach the back items. Has 2 seperate temperature adju...Read more

Would not buy a westinghouse again. For such an expensive item the quality is lacking. Not much there after the electronics. Longterm durability questionable.
Good Storage and modern design
The same as Hayley everything freezes, believe it has a faulty thermostat.

Got a BJ513V-R*11 westinghouse fridge. Problem started happening few days ago. The panel beep randomly and I can see the 'quick freeze' icon come on and off randomly (together with the beep sound). What might went wrong with the fridge, is that the end of life of my fridge ?

I doubt there is a problem with the gas, leaks are uncommon unless the fridge has been moved recently and knocked around.
I think it’s most likely sensor/ electrical. If one of the wires has been cooked over time it might be tripping up the sensor to show a fault.
Also with recent heat refrigerators had to work extra hard to keep the temperature steady as well as we have had sudden temperature drops of 20 degrees. There could be a form of condensation that is playing the part. I wonder where the fridge is situated and if it is exposed to the weather outside (eg, standing next to open window or door).
I would empty it, clean and dry it, switch off the power and leave it off for half a day or a day, however it’s impractical to do that with the fridge.
The refrigerator has been running for a number of years in the same physical location, cant recall how many years. I am just thinking whether it is more practical to get a new refrigerator or get it repair. I got a first quote for $110 call out fee, then $55 per 30 minutes plus spare parts, so easily $400+ and a new one cost $1400 !!
