Love it!

Pros - Great size. I use it to store pre-made meals and it is fantastic for buying meat or other foods in bulk when on special. For a family of 5 it is a perfect size. Have had ours 8 months already and only needing to do a defrost now. It was recommended every 6 months so I'm happy about how good it's gone frost free. Haven't noticed much of an increase in the powerbill.
Cons- Door takes a good 10-15mins before it can be re-opened but this isn't a problem for me.

Excellent

Supports a great deal of space, and is ideal for any small to Medium family. Maintains a constant temperature and is quiet. The seal seems to be rugged and should cope with regular lifting. So far it hasn't needed any defrosting, as our old Tuckerbox required. Our previous Haier had just broken down, and we missed out on the Aldi unit, which was far cheaper.

Failed on the 1st week

Bought this a week ago and it stopped working. They couldn't fix it and I am still waiting for westinghouse/electrolux to get back to me on a solution. My full load of frozen food is now going into the bin. Thought a branded product will not fail me that soon, should have bought a less known brand for lesser price instead

Does exactly what it is supposed to do

Bought the Westinghouse after returning not just one but two Hisense units. The Hisense chest freezers both had faulty seal rims (dips in the the actual plastic moulding that were too deep for the seal to close off), causing excess ice build up. Both Hisense units also made an unpleasant gas type odour which left me feeling unwell after a few hours in the same room.

The 200L Westinghouse is clearly a better quality unit with a perfectly straight/flat seal rim and a much larger, more solid seal. There is no odour and the unit does not run as often. Should have saved myself some trouble and spent the extra $70 on the Westinghouse at the outset.

Why has the green light on my w/h deep frezer changed from green to red?

I am sure if it is red it is for danger, and best to get professional advice. A freezer full of food is no small cost. Is the top down securely? Are there any items above the top causing the lid to stay up. Has the top has been left partly open /power cut. Although with lid closed properly food takes over 20 hours to defrost, but is safe to cook and eat but not to refreeze. If the red light has been on for some time maybe the Westinghouse website it the better authority.
If it is only being started from new or having been turned off for some time it isn't automatically up to freezing point, red light,- when correct freezing temp reached turns green.

Its full of crisco atm. Lights been red for about week and a hlf. Im going to take everyhing out defost and start again i think.
Thanks for your time

This issue is described and answered in the user manual suppled by Westinghoue with your freezer. if you read the manual right through, you will see Westinghouse has provided a comprehensive description of how the freezer works, including how the seal works, how to set the freezer up, what to expect, including a comprehensive answer to your question. i recommend reading the trouble-shooting section at the back of the manual where your question is fully covered, along with other helpful advice about your freezer.

It's because the freezer has sealed itself shut to get cold. Its completely normal and all big freezers do it. Its just the seal sucks closed really suuuuper hard while its re-freezing after having the door open. It may make little popping sounds after you close the door to get food out too, or you can actually hear it kinds sucking down too- all totally normal also. You'll need to give it a good few hours before you'll be able to open the door after you first turn it on. After you take food out later on, after its been filled, you close the door and won't be able to open it easily again for 30 mins to an hour or so, again- totally normal. Hope this helps some :)

When I first purchased my freezer and followed the instructions, everything was fine and the lid opened when I wanted it to. However, a few weeks on, we have been experiencing this problem almost all of the time. Hubby puts it down to the air outside being significantly hotter than in the freezer, meaning it has been extremely hot and humid where we live causing the seal to be super sealed shut, and before when we didn't have that issue, it wasn't that hot so no lid problem. Who really knows why?! Having said that and experienced another brand's lid not sealing at all, I'm happier that my food will remain frozen and power bill less. Sometimes the lid stays shut from anywhere of 15minutes to 40 min or a bit more. From our research, we don't seem to have the same quality of freezers like we were use to some years ago. Its a shame. If I had my choice with what's available now, I will still buy Westinghouse. I have just learnt to plan a bit more or put things in my fridge until the lid comes open again. I'm lucky that I also have a small fridge freezer that can help too. And if it's ice-cream, we either take out how many we want or eat the whole tub ;-)

I bought the Westinghouse WCM2000WD but notice there is only a very small basket. Is this normal or should there be other baskets that come with the unit please?

Unfortunately it only comes with the one but it's the same with other brands. I agree, two or three would be much better.

I'm glad the freezer seals tight, its why it uses less power, no air can get in, you need it especially here in cairns. Yes, before it got cold it took around 5 hours to open, but now it opens easy after 5 to 10 minutes. If you put foam on the seal you just allow in warm air, only a little, but will cost you in power, and here raise the humidity causing everything to ice up, it a machine, it has technical reasons for your complaints. But what do you know, you didn't even check what sort of basket it had before you bought it. I cannot take your review seriously, what does delivery have to do with the performance of a machine. You sound like a pain in the bum customer, maybe the delivery guys couldn't stand putting up with you when delivering. Did you offer them a coffee? Were you polite or started complaining about your small basket and too deep freezer you bought? Did you start abusing staff on the phone right away, or first politely raise your concerns? I gave fantastic customer service for office products for over twenty years, gave it away because no one respects good service anymore, no matter what, always someone complaining, never a thank you
