The generator revs up when started and could not supply power when connected to load. Any ideas?

Hi Muni,
I'm not an expert on this generator, I was far from impressed with it and replaced with a different brand. It could be the regulator or problems with the Carby like I had. I recommend if you have to spend money, get a new generator. So far I have been pretty happy with the Kings 3.5kVA from 4wd Supercentre. Only $389 delivered.

UPDATE: it's a 3600.
When I try to start it, the red light flickers, but that's all.
Take it back to Aldi anyway, they should swap it,as they can check their records & it's less than a year old.
They could not swap it as they had none left....
They gave me a refund instantly.
Aldi have improved so much. .....

I would like to know what the generators KVA is?
1 answer
It's 3.5kVA (3500VA) or 3.2kW (3200W).
(Not 3500W as stated above).
Do not buy this generator. I had nothing but trouble with mine. Look up my review.

Check out the Kings Generator. It has good reviews and a larger engine. I am buying this one myself to try. I believe it will be better than the Aldi.

Is the latest model, advertised for saleby Aldi on 6th april 2022, the same model that is referred to as being unreliable byso many of the above reviews.
Or is this new model had some modifications / improvements to it?

I would be 99.999% sure that it is the same Factory and probably the same batch.
I'll be getting one and will soon let you know for sure
The model sold this year looks the same as the one sold last year. Mine (bought last year) says Model INF 3800A-1. This is the number on the sticker on the fuel tank. The other larger numbers on the box are merely the product code for that particular year and will be different every time they are sold. (It's their way of knowing when it was made as it has a three year warranty). The ratings are as follows: Rated power is 3400W, 3600W peak; engine type is 4 stroke, engine capacity is 182cc; fuel capacity and type is 10.5L of unleaded (do not use fuel containing ethanol, same as most other generators on the market); Oil capacity and type is 600ml of SAE 10W30 synthetic; weight is 31kg; noise level is 72db (A). It has three 24VAC 10A (pure sine wave) outputs sockets.
I bought one last year due to living in a regional area with frequent power outages. Most of them are short but we have had three longer ones since this time last year and the generator has worked beautifully for me. Starts first pull every time, and runs the whole house full of appliances. I have had a family size fridge freezer, a bar sized freezer, a 65cm TV,, satellite box, pedestal fan, lights, two computers, (one laptop, one desktop), kettle and toaster all being used without any problems whatsoever. The last outage we had when I used it was for eight hours continuous and the previous ones were five hours and six ours. I store in indoors when not being used and I do put fuel preservative in the tank with the fuel as I never know how long it will be until it is next used. It's the best $399 I've ever spent. Oh, and it is very miserly on fuel too. At the end of the last eight hour run there was still heaps of fuel in the tank! I love it. :-) Aldi has a 60 day returns policy as well as the manufacturers three year warranty.
Warranty is worthless, they don't honour it. I was told the two month old fuel in the tank was too old and voided the warranty.
Buy a Kings Generator for $389.00. Much better value!!

Can I buy the inverter unit inside? No power out put and I suspect that has failed.

It has three year warranty. You don't need to buy it.
We don’t have the receipt to prove purchase from you and from memory it would be close to 3 years from date of purchase.

Is there an overload or reset button?
2 answers
The new version of this Aldi Generator FAILED after less than 30 mins of operation....I have returned it for a refund....Aldi has obviously sourced out a new manufacturer from China, that has produced an inferior copy of the original one.....My first version is still going strong..With hundreds of hours on it...There is no reset button on that one..Sadly, I will never waste my time on these generators again...Cheers
No not on the outside, but neither do the Honda units. Most reputable manufactures place automatic overloads inside units to trip out on either temptriture or power overload. Honda for example on their inverter generators just drop all output when overloaded even though the motor keeps running and you litreally have to stop the enjine and start it up again to get power back. I would guess these units have the same feature as the technology is the same. Therminal overloads would require you to wait for the unit to cool first. I thought running my large air conditioner would test out the overload on my aldi unit as it trips my EU30I Honda but as yet the aldi unit just works. I point out though that the aldi unit is MAX rated at 3.6kw and the Honda at 3.0kw. Try stopping your unit and allowing it to cool then restart it with no load and try it again being careful not to exceed 3400W. Then if you still have no joy contact Aldi customer service.
PS the engine is fitted with an oil alert so if the oil is low the engine won't start!
