Helped a little boy with a busted BMX

published

My twelve-year-old boy had a BMX with a buckled chain and a few other problems. We got to the workshop door in Bondi Junction and were told, because of the sudden rush of biz due to COVID and everyone wanting bikes, we'd have to wait until Monday to get the bike looked at. The mechanic asked what was wrong, we told him, and he said he'd fix it on the spot. Took him ten minutes or so. While he was working I watched the other mechanics all diligently, and expertly, fixing bikes. When the bike was ready, I handed him my credit card. He waved it away. Legend. Kid stoked. Bike fixed. Free.

New bike with many problems

published

Bought a new bike and there have been many small to dangerous problems with it. It has been back to the shop 3 times and for more than 2 weeks. If they had built it up correctly and checked it over properly before selling it then I would not have had to go back. There appears to be a focus on commission and getting things done quickly rather than providing a quality and reliable product.

Rip-off club membership demanded

published

I saw a cheap ($14) product online, called to check availability and price, then went to store to collect. At cash register they suddenly decided that the price I saw online and that they confirmed by phone (and we had just discussed next to the item) was the 'club members only' price - and to me the price was $20, or I could 'join the club' for $5. There was "no flexibility" about this. The price I had seen online was 'club members only'.
Online you can buy at that price (you 'join' for nothing just by registering. Moreover, the price states "club price" and "recommended retail" [suggesting that this is their price - not that they charge two different prices].

I felt this was clearly a ripoff and left in disgust.

Excellent.

The sales guys here are friendly, really know their stuff and happy to cut a great deal.
The workshop are really knowledgeable and know what they are doing.
In particular the service from the manager 'Sam'i received was 1st class as was that from salesman 'Jervis'.
They say true test of an organisation is how they react when things go wrong, well, they dealt with multiple difficult situations i brought to them very professionally and with a very high degree of customer care.
Highly recommend and will return.

Bike purchase

published

First and last time purchase.
Purchased a new bike and accessories.
The bike they sold me didn’t have the features that the salesperson showed me. So we had to order the next model up which they did me a deal on. The water bottle and cradle didn’t fit the bike frame. I went back to change it over but they were too busy to do it. They asked me to come back during the week.
Not a great experience I would not recommend them to anyone.

Worst after sales service in history

published

Nice bikes, nice deals and when you're in the shop buying something, they're fine. Leave with your new purchase and then you're forgotten. "We offer a free tune up after 8 weeks" they say. Well you try and contact them to book it in! No-one ever answers the phone, when you leave a message no one calls you back. They're totally useless.

poorest service i've received in a long while - 99 Bikes Bondi Junction

published

Bought my kids bikes at the Stanmore shop. Staff there were friendly and helpful. Bikes come with first service free at ANY of their stores. Walked into the Bondi Junction store (2:30pm, 09-09-2016). Free staff member basically ignored me for 10 minutes while on his computer. Then once I said something he pretented to not have realised there were people waiting (myself and another customer standing literally 2m from him so there's no way this was the case) and said he couldn't book in a service because they were currently overbooked. I would view this as a breach of their terms and will be pursuing it further. Be careful in dealing with 99 bikes.
