Very attractive ads on TV, cost is expensive but what isn't - AAMI service pathetic! Since my accident

Did exactly what they promised. I lodged the claim couple of months after I switched insurer ... They still treated me as a valued customer..and took a very good care of the claim. Highly recommended.

Avoid AAMI at all costs! Incredibly poor performance for claims process. No longer a good/reputable insurance company. They are now the same as budget/cheap insurance companies but with an expensive price tag.

AAMI have cut corners on customer service to make bigger profits. The claims process is now self service even though you don't work for AAMI they require you to do everything yourself.

I had appalling service from AAMI after a car accident at the beginning of June this year. I reported it online then made the follow up phone call to them, as requested. My initial contact from them was the same day to pay my excess and two days later to request a copy of the tow truck driver's statement. Then nothing. They never contacted me again except to respond to my emails, phone calls and WhatsApp messages.

My car was hit at the rear by an uninsured man whose car had bald tyres. Within days AAMI had organised repairs and a rental car for the duration. As it wasn’t my fault and admitted by the other driver, no excess was paid. The repairs took just over a week. I am so grateful that I am insured with AAMI. My car is back in pristine condition again. Highly recommend insuring with AAMI. Best customer service.

I have now insured myself with other major car insurance company for around 2k and that’s expensive already. AAMI will not price match, will not reason on why they want 5k for a comprenshive care & note it’s just inflation and how all policy is more expensive these days…. The “algorithm of risk” generates the quote but they do not take into human factors… it’s very poor on AAMIs end..... pure cash grab move

Pretty much you will guarantee finding a cheaper and better car insurance out there. The customer service hotline takes forever too & not helpful.

AAMI offers no way to cancel online, this should be illegal. They make you call them and wait on hold to cancel your policy. Not only that, they continued to take money out after cancelling a policy. An absolute scam of a company which should be shut down for illegally taking customers money.

Had insurance for 12 months with AAMI, after that our premium jumped up some $50, when we ph them to discuss, lady was so rude, we cancelled on the strength of her bad manners. Shame on you AAMI, all your ads are false.

Over the course of 6 weeks I have made three phone calls to AAMI. Each time I have been on hold for at least 1 hour before speaking to a person.... on one occasion I was on hold for 2 hours 15min.
AAMI promised to return phone calls on two occasions, neither of which happened until I called back myself.
Staff are courteous and polite, but can be extremely difficult to understand. I have to constantly correct the details (name, phone numbers, etc) and they do not seem to be able to assist with basic requirements without putting you on hold for 2

Stay far away from these idiots .. cancelled my policy in October 2022 they continued to fraudulently withdraw monthly payments up until 12th of July 2023. They did not cancel my policy when requested. Now they are asking for confirmation of vehicle disposal after I’ve continuously told them the motor has blown and it’s sitting in my years the incompetence of the employees is incredible.. these people are absolute thieves

You have probably seen AAMI’s car insurance ad showing the foolish driver insuring with a cheap but useless insurance outfit. Then the delightful sales girl tells you that AAMI pays 99% of insurance claims. Looks convincing, but what is the real cost of their insurance; whats their real excess? AAMI car insurance has a cunning way of misleading people into thinking their excess is half what it really is:

Shocking service, extremely unprofessional and a complete waste of time .
We waited over a year for repairs, cancelled the job twice and then proceeded to try and cancel our insurance as well to prevent completing the job. I cannot say one positive thing about them. They didn't keep records of any of our conversations and could not stick to their word or story. Run!

I got to accident, payed access took car since April to repair, now it’s mid June, still waiting for assistance of aami to put exactly same headlights I had on my car, not old one it’s 4 weeks I call insurance explaining all story than they take note they say asser of your car will be notified and call you every Thursday and Tuesday of the week I call, old headlight are very deam and i upgraded them last year, I want the same lights to be put back not the old one and for them to confirm this it’s been since 8th may till today 20th June wait

Been with AAMI for a long time. First time made a claim and never see such a bad standard. Took over 1 hour to get to someone after the accident. Made claim and never heard to anyone. Tried to extend the car hire and being transfer around and after another 45mins still trying to get to another total loss team. Over 1 month hearing nothing. Expecting customer to keep chasing up. Crazy. Should we say unlucky we are with AAMI? AAMI used to be a great customer service company and have no idea why it becomes so bad.

Refused my genuine car insurance claim and engaged investigator to waste my time. The claim review officer was a A**. The same guy did the review and refused with no real explanation. Went on AFCA and they paid me in a week. If it was for normal person who would’ve given up AAMI would’ve gotten away. I would never choose AAMI again.

After crashing early December I submitted my claim. I left my vehicle at a their repairs a week later with the first assessor declaring it a ride off but would “get back to me”. A few weeks we by, it was now the New Year and I still hadn’t heard anything. I called the repair to check for updates and they were unable to find my vehicle in their facility. I thought when you have full comprehensive insurance that you are fully covered well was I wrong about that..I broke down crossing the Nullarbor called AAMI insurance and too be told they only cover the first 100 kms too the nearest mechanic by saying that the nearest mechanic was 350 kms away so too have a tow truck come and get the car was going too cost out of my own pocket $6600 and then on top of that had too pay too have the car fixed..so if anyone is thinking about getting insurance from this company avoid them and look somewhere else.

Do not be fooled!!!Add on windscreen cover in addition to comprehensive insurance is a total waste of money and a scam.!!!They are offering the same service as someone who has basic comprehensive cover regardless of whether you have additional cover or not..I have been paying a lot of money on top of monthly premium to cover windscreen since I have started with AAMI years back. It has been 7 months and counting with no end date in sight for the repair of my brand new car. It took over a month to even have the car assessed and have had massive problems even being able to speak to someone about the issues. Car had been left outside in the elements and even had an assessor give me false information telling me my car was ready to commence repairs which was a complete fabrication. I’ve been told nothing can be done to help the situation and will never insure with AAMI ever again after being a loyal customer for many years.

Incompetent and poor customer service, provide false and misleading customer related to their claims and lack of communication provide no update to customer. If you raise complaint or send them email no reply or contact, I sent raise complaint and email them but no communication since last 3 weeks.

Aami has taken 4 months of me driving my car after an accident before deciding to deregister it without telling me till a week later in the mail. They then want to pay me out $13000 for a $20000 car after there recommended smash repairers said it would cost the $13000 to fix it and don’t want to accept the quote of my smash repairer which was $7000 due to the only damage on the care only being cosmetic, because he wasn’t one of there listed repairs when he was for years before. Aami is doing this to lots of people I was told by the ombudsman the only conclusion I can make is they are taking people cars paying them out small and making a profit of robbing people

Worst customer service. When called to lodge the claim the phone was answered quickly n made us pay the excess and there after anything else we try to contact them atleast 1 -1.3 hours wait time … if u lucky to get ur call answered after one hour they will again put u on hold for 30min just to verify ur details.. this is seriously ridiculous… when the repair was booked they cancelled the booking n never informed us of the cancellation… when went for the repair removing the baby car seats two of them n went they told the booking was cancled ..

I’ve been with AAMI for over 5 years. Previous premiums were about $600. I bought a new car and advised AAMI of the change. When my renewal came the premium had been increased to $1300! This was with 0 claims and no accident history. I got a quote off their website as a ‘new’ customer and they were offering the same cover for $650. This is clearly a rotten money grab by AAMI, capitalizing on the assumed ignorance of their existing customers.

I got quotes from lots of other insurers and happily went with Australian Seniors who have offered the same insurance for just $400.

Customer service is terrible. As a customer, need to manage all the communication between repairer and AAMI. Spent hours and hours on the call. In the end, vehicle returned with more damaged. Agreed to make a re-assessment, but being waiting for months, until insurance expired.

AAMI is one of the reasons why we need a Royal Commission in to the insurance sector in this country. My car was crashed in to by one of their customers, who were wholly at fault. Accident happened on 6th May. Every communication has been a trial, from the first trying to claim on internet, only to get thrown out many times, on hold on phone for ages, then get cut off. Car was clearly a write off, but it took a month before the assessor could even look at it. I’ve had to make so many calls, no one ever rings to give info. Absolutely shocking service, it’s not good enough. Certainly going elsewhere when this is done.
