Been 17 days since flood claimed lodged, no progress with 3rd party restoration company Callais Group
lodged a flood claim 17 days ago, no progress whatsoever, they use a third party restoration company called Callais Group, this company basically lies to you with an expected date, then doesn't turn up or give you follow up phone calls.
1st lie: Callais Group lied about contacting me
2nd lie: Callais Group lied about contacting my husband ( which was in fact my husband called up to follow up with them, Callais Group used this phone record said they've been "in touch" with my husband)
3rd lie: Callais Group promised come out (i had to call aami ...Read more
to get this dates by myself) between 17th-21st feb to my house, no one came out, and no one called me to give me any update. after the 3rd lie happend, I called up Callais Group myself questioning why didn't they turn up, there was 0 empathy, 0 apology, was told by Callais Group that they have over 600 claims, they will get to me when they get to me. I was furious after given that answer, I raised my voice and got hanged up by a supervisor at Callais Group. I then called back, they obviously can see my number pops up on the phone, lady answers the phone won't let me talk, keep talking over me and basically threatening me with the power she's got saying she is not gonna arrange anything until I stop being angry (after what I've been through). 4th lie: I then called AAMI to tell them how terrible the service is with Callais Group, after AAMI rep spoke to Callais Group, i was then given a date again, i was told i should expect Callais Group to come out today, AM, which not going to happend again after i spent an hour over the phone with AAMI, found out they're only going to contact me today, between 3-6pm (if that happens). I have a garage full of mouldy stuff, damaged floorboards and furnitures, fridge was soaked in ankle deep water, but 0 empathy or help but full of nasty attitude from Callais Group, beyond horrifying experience.

Disappointed
My brother put a claim for first time with AAMI for first time. Due to his disability I help him, his roof collapsed as water got in from broken tiles. When I rang the consultant wanted me to pay access before builder even looked at job. They said builder will call in 24 hours to make it safe. Day 4 noone called. Water leaking in brothers. Lounge room. So since their builder didn't contact me. I got my own builder to make it safe for my brother. Now AAMI are giving me a hard time to process my claim cause I picked my own builder. Disgraceful service. Still waiting for their reply to get approval for roof to be repaired.

Screwed for being a Loyal Customer
I have 4 houses (with landlord policy) and 3 cars insured with AAMI.
I have been with them for over 25 years.
I only had 1 claim back in early 2000 (no issue).
Last year (October 2022), the tenants damaged the property costing me over $8k in damages.
AAMI assessor came and only covered me for $2,350. Minus my excess -$1,500 = $850
AAMI is only going to pay me = $850.
On the final day of the claim to be settled (Feb 2020), I get a call from the Claims department saying that I have to pay equivalent 4week rent (when claiming for malicious dam...Read more

Excellent
AAMI were fantastic when making a claim on our contents policy after the recent bushfires.
They were quick to assess, approve and pay all in 1 to 2 weeks once the claim was submitted.

Fraud at its very best
Unlucky due to a disputed claim over 3 months to have our home roof totally repaired instead of half of it.
The end outcome over 3 months of this disputed claim eventually came to an agreed settlement with acknowledgement they were at fault for not evaluating our claim correctly in the first place.
So unlucky to be with AAMI !!!!!

Terrible: won’t support customers
Currently in dispute with AAMI
Skylights were “repaired” by replacing them with polycarbonate/ alsinite sheets. This is not fit for purpose.
AAMI “lost” the records during a transfer/ update of computer claims system. This resulted in “skylights” failing in hail storm. AAMI won’t honour “lifetime repair warranty” as a result.
Sent an engineer to assess. He damaged valuable fully mature ponytail palms with a cherry picker. We have photographic evidence date and time stamped showing evidence of damaged palms with cherry picker up. AAMI have chos...Read more

Caused damage during claim process and won’t fix it
I have been with AAMI for 15 years. This was my first ‘my fault’ claim...not a very pleasant one....
I had a leak in the waste pipe in my bathroom I called AAMI to see if I was covered, which was confirmed (as long it wasn’t happening for a ‘long’ time. I wasn’t sure I should claim as my excess was $1500, the consultant on the phone suggested that I start the process and if it’s cheap to fix myself then I could chose to once I was aware of the costs.
The resto guy and the plumber came out the next day (about 4 pm). Apparently the plumber wasn...Read more

What a nightmare. I sold a property which was part of a two property strata title. What should’ve been a simple change of bank accounts ended up taking 8 phone calls

High Cost of Monthly Premiums
As I do each year I tested the water for home and contents insurance. I am currently insured with RACV. AAMI were much cheaper on an annual basis but as I pay by the month I was surprised to see that the difference in monthly premium was a mere 5 cents. This was because RACV charged an effective interest rate of 4.5% to pay by the month while AAMI was charging 16.6%. As a consequence I stayed with RACV. AAMI wanted an extra 2 months worth of premiums to pay by the month. I do not know how they can justify that

Useless helpless
I claim the rangehood and cooktop renew from AAMI. They requested technician attend my house to measure the rangehood space twice! When they come to install the items, only one person came, and told me they are not fitted. They cannot do anything. And AAMI's case manager hung up my phone. AAMI is very very unefficient. I already wait two months for this.

No words to describe how bad AAMI are
AAMI repairers caused more damage than they fixed. Each time tradies were sent back to fix the problem they left a trail of destruction damaging things that weren't part of my claim. My home has been left in a mess for over 4 years and it is now falling apart due to AAMI ignoring the extent of the damage on my initial claim. They also blamed me for a break-in that occurred and left me with a door held together with tape and bits of wood for two months and 3 days, whilst the perpetrator stalked me around the clock. Then they slandered me to ever...Read more
y tradesman they sent out and the tradies then caused more damage to my home. Then they undercut me on a lot of the items that were stollen so that i couldn't replace most of the stuff. I could go on and on about the abuse this company have subjected me to, but I will save it for the media and change.org as this company have traumatised me and wrecked my life. They should be shut down.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Tried to charge for insurance after paying already. This isnt the first time these thieves have tried this on. Beware. You would think this 2 bit company could tell when people have paid. Take your money, leach some more.

Time to LEAVE!!!! after being a loyal customer for many many years!!!!
Been with aami for my various properties insurance, they used to be GOOD! now not so much. Have had a $2000 necklace insured with them for 7+ years now, sadly this has been misplaced, i gave them all images of it, but had no receipt as its 10 years old now, they basically were willing to pay for not even half of what its valued, but they were happy to take the extra premium off me to cover for this....Shop else where, im seeing a lot of other bad reviews now for AAMI maybe its changed of ownership, back in the day they were non greedy, cheapest and best around now not so much....now time for me to move my insurance elsewhere and never return!!

AAMI wasting your money paying this insurer
Damage to bedroom after water came through roof after broken tiles. Paid excess as mould was discovered and high mositure in walls. Trades people came multiple times, removed parts of wall, carpet and skirting.
After many appointments and negotiations in getting their contractors to actually work, we arranged for three days for work to begin. No scope of work sent.
On the day of starting work the workmen arrived three hours late after calling twice. Then stayed as then had no equipment or resources even through they had taken away in previous...Read more

Extremely unfair, negligent an irresponsible insurer
13 Month since accident and they choose to settle with a 1/3 of actual provided as a fair settlement by Lawyer. Yet AAMI won't provide dignity. Quick to advertise, promote irresponsible in a fair settlement.

One claim in two decades and it was rejected.
Very disappointed. We have been insured with AAMI House and Contents for many many years. First claim ever and it was rejected. No attempt to keep our business, so I'm assuming this is their business model, take your money for years then when someone claims, reject it and send them elsewhere whilst keeping the thousands of dollars paid in premiums. Claim was for carpet damage.

From reading these reviews, who are the companies who do actually pay out claims for bathroom water issues ? Has anyone had success ?
1 answer
My main complaint about AAMI is that they took well over 4 months to settle a fairly straightforward bushfire damage claim. OK they paid fully in the end but it was a long and tedious process which I didn't need on top of the stress from the bushfires. Their Ad's potray them as a caring and compassionate company, crap, they are looking after themselves; their shareholders and bottom line is all they really care about. Their advertising "Lucky I'm with AAMI" is just hypocritical, and they need to be called out for their cynical posturing.
