Fraud at its very best
Unlucky due to a disputed claim over 3 months to have our home roof totally repaired instead of half of it.
The end outcome over 3 months of this disputed claim eventually came to an agreed settlement with acknowledgement they were at fault for not evaluating our claim correctly in the first place.
So unlucky to be with AAMI !!!!!

Terrible: won’t support customers
Currently in dispute with AAMI
Skylights were “repaired” by replacing them with polycarbonate/ alsinite sheets. This is not fit for purpose.
AAMI “lost” the records during a transfer/ update of computer claims system. This resulted in “skylights” failing in hail storm. AAMI won’t honour “lifetime repair warranty” as a result.
Sent an engineer to assess. He damaged valuable fully mature ponytail palms with a cherry picker. We have photographic evidence date and time stamped showing evidence of damaged palms with cherry picker up. AAMI have chos...Read more
en to believe the engineer, not us. We have had home and contents with them for 15 plus years, and 3 comprehensively insured vehicles through them. Corporate sociopathy at its worst. Even internal disputes resolution hasn’t been satisfactory.

Caused damage during claim process and won’t fix it
I have been with AAMI for 15 years. This was my first ‘my fault’ claim...not a very pleasant one....
I had a leak in the waste pipe in my bathroom I called AAMI to see if I was covered, which was confirmed (as long it wasn’t happening for a ‘long’ time. I wasn’t sure I should claim as my excess was $1500, the consultant on the phone suggested that I start the process and if it’s cheap to fix myself then I could chose to once I was aware of the costs.
The resto guy and the plumber came out the next day (about 4 pm). Apparently the plumber wasn...Read more
’t allowed to fix the leak but just confirm the source. I showed him the leak coming out of the vanity waste and he agreed that was the source. He had a look at my shower 2m away, and said the grout looked a bit dodgy and I should get it fixed sooner than later as it could give me trouble in the future. It was at the back at the highest level so under normal operation water doesn’t go there but still I agree it was definitely worth fixing. He also confirmed that any damage caused by a leak there isn’t coverend by insurance. I said thanks then I had to leave to go downstairs as my son was sick. He said he just needed to do a few more tests. When I was downstairs I could hear the shower was on., like full ball, I thought it was odd given our conversation just a few minutes ago...as I was going upstairs I hear this noise in my kitchen, it was water coming thru my ceiling and into and around my kitchen cupboards. ..I went up to find that he a put masking tape over my shower drain and filled up my shower pan (which it not designed to be ‘plugged’). He filled it up over the top of the grout that he previously said looked dodgy and when I walked up I said water is coming through my ceiling. He panicked but then said yes see your shower leaks The whole claim process everyone I spoke to at aami said that the challenge test/flood test is standard as and I should be happy it was identified. It didn’t matter who I spoke too, including when I escalated the complaint that I didn’t want the ‘experiment’ done I would have fixed it. Because the challenge test is a destructive test they couldnt understand why I dint want to risk it with the knowledge that aami wouldn’t cover it -even when done by its own contractors. I was told over and over again that the choice was not mine to make and this is standard am I policy to undertake for escape of liquid. ...despite the plumber knowing exactly where the leak was (my vanity) and no obvious second leak -moisture tests done when plumper was there confirmed no moisture in my ceiling or kitchen. I I was told constantly that it was my fault the grout was dodged and it was probably always leaking. They found a small bump in the ceiling meters away from where the water came thru but was mentioned in the report as the ceiling having water damage. the location of it was irrelevant but part of the smokescreen of the contractor to absolve themselves of responsibility. A week or so later I had little black dots coming thru on the ceiling at the exact spot the water came thru. I rang aami and they said they would send the resto guy out. I asked for another company as I felt there was a conflict of interest. They sent the previous guy the one who made a big deal of the (irrelevant) bump in my ceiling. He looked at it and said he didn’t know what it was...I said it looks like mould....blah blah. I said not to treat it if it’s not mould as I will get a second opinion. He agreed it might be (he’s meant to be and expert) so he treated it.. In the report it black substance, not mould but treated like mound. It was so insulting like they were trying to make it look as if I had made it all up.

High Cost of Monthly Premiums
As I do each year I tested the water for home and contents insurance. I am currently insured with RACV. AAMI were much cheaper on an annual basis but as I pay by the month I was surprised to see that the difference in monthly premium was a mere 5 cents. This was because RACV charged an effective interest rate of 4.5% to pay by the month while AAMI was charging 16.6%. As a consequence I stayed with RACV. AAMI wanted an extra 2 months worth of premiums to pay by the month. I do not know how they can justify that

Useless helpless
I claim the rangehood and cooktop renew from AAMI. They requested technician attend my house to measure the rangehood space twice! When they come to install the items, only one person came, and told me they are not fitted. They cannot do anything. And AAMI's case manager hung up my phone. AAMI is very very unefficient. I already wait two months for this.

No words to describe how bad AAMI are
AAMI repairers caused more damage than they fixed. Each time tradies were sent back to fix the problem they left a trail of destruction damaging things that weren't part of my claim. My home has been left in a mess for over 4 years and it is now falling apart due to AAMI ignoring the extent of the damage on my initial claim. They also blamed me for a break-in that occurred and left me with a door held together with tape and bits of wood for two months and 3 days, whilst the perpetrator stalked me around the clock. Then they slandered me to ever...Read more
y tradesman they sent out and the tradies then caused more damage to my home. Then they undercut me on a lot of the items that were stollen so that i couldn't replace most of the stuff. I could go on and on about the abuse this company have subjected me to, but I will save it for the media and change.org as this company have traumatised me and wrecked my life. They should be shut down.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Time to LEAVE!!!! after being a loyal customer for many many years!!!!
Been with aami for my various properties insurance, they used to be GOOD! now not so much. Have had a $2000 necklace insured with them for 7+ years now, sadly this has been misplaced, i gave them all images of it, but had no receipt as its 10 years old now, they basically were willing to pay for not even half of what its valued, but they were happy to take the extra premium off me to cover for this....Shop else where, im seeing a lot of other bad reviews now for AAMI maybe its changed of ownership, back in the day they were non greedy, cheapest and best around now not so much....now time for me to move my insurance elsewhere and never return!!

AAMI wasting your money paying this insurer
Damage to bedroom after water came through roof after broken tiles. Paid excess as mould was discovered and high mositure in walls. Trades people came multiple times, removed parts of wall, carpet and skirting.
After many appointments and negotiations in getting their contractors to actually work, we arranged for three days for work to begin. No scope of work sent.
On the day of starting work the workmen arrived three hours late after calling twice. Then stayed as then had no equipment or resources even through they had taken away in previous...Read more

Extremely unfair, negligent an irresponsible insurer
13 Month since accident and they choose to settle with a 1/3 of actual provided as a fair settlement by Lawyer. Yet AAMI won't provide dignity. Quick to advertise, promote irresponsible in a fair settlement.

One claim in two decades and it was rejected.
Very disappointed. We have been insured with AAMI House and Contents for many many years. First claim ever and it was rejected. No attempt to keep our business, so I'm assuming this is their business model, take your money for years then when someone claims, reject it and send them elsewhere whilst keeping the thousands of dollars paid in premiums. Claim was for carpet damage.

Took 12 months to approve my claim and with a fight
I had a leaking water pipe in the wall of the kitchen and when it was discovered the assessor determined that one cupboard needed to be replaced and a mold treatment done. Ok no worries. That happened but we could still smell mold, so I contacted AAMI and the assessor came back and determined that we just needed another mold treatment in the kitchen. I explained that the smell was still very strong and there was clearly still mold there.
AAMI sat on it for ages, and I had to follow them up, on one particular call the female claims consultant ...Read more
was really rude and condescending and I was so upset by the way she spoke to me. She essentially insinuated that I was trying it on and spoke to me like a child. They agreed to send the mold treatment company out again, who he himself lifted some boards and looked himself and the whole kitchen was riddled with mold! He obviously went straight back to them with his photos because the next week I was having the claim approved for a new kitchen. When the old kitchen cabinetry was removed there was black mold everywhere! So no AAMI, I wasn't trying to make a false claim. In my opinion you need to use better skilled assessors because clearly it was his advice that was so totally incorrect, and you need to be more polite and respectful to your clients who pay you for a service.Similar opinion? Disappointed- terrible experience with Aami. Beware of this insurance company.
We had a water damage at our house in February 2022.
It has been 7 months now and they still haven’t started fixing the house
They took 6 months to do the remediation process which could have been done within 6 weeks.
When I asked the reason for delays.
They started to bullying us blaming that all delays happening due to us entering the property occasionally. That was totally rubbish.
Every question I was asking, their answer was against me.
They treated me as if I am a criminal
They been bullying us a lot asking us irrelevant questions.
This is the first time in my entire life when I felt hopeless and fully stressed.
Is that what we pay them for ...Read more

Always re-quote every year
Our renewal for home and contents insurance was $1800 this year so I thought I would go online and get some new quotes.
I also went back into the AAMI website to requote with our exact same details only to find the quote was $400 less!
I gave them a call to question this and they said they can start a new policy for me with the new quote. So moral of the story is to not only shop around with other insurers each year but also to shop around with your existing insurer.

Very poor, Deteriorating services of AAMI
I have been with AAMI for for ten years continuously and missed my annual payment in July 2022. They were in rush to cancel my existing policy and trying to sell a policy as a new customer with an additional $200 added to the premium. It was a real disappointing situation considering the fact that I had just one claim for all these 10 years. Feeling ripped off by AAMI.
Prior to that I had a vehicle claim (not my fault) which I removed from AAMI due to very bad handling (did not response) so I had to talk to the other person's insurer myself and arranged to fix my vehicle. Prominent deteriorating services. Just interested in getting money. I am now going to remove all other policies I have with AAMI. I was very unlucky to be with you AAMI!

My son threw a toy accidentally cracking the tv screen.. am I insured for this accidental damage ?
1 answer
if you have the accidental cover option enabled then yes. However, compare the excess for content, if it is greater than the cost of the tv then there is really no point. so the amount refunded will be TV cost - Excess for content.
