Love it
Love it. I have had this monitor for 6yrs and I got it second hand. It works perfectly even with a cracked screen from being dropped 2 years ago and a trip in the toilet yesterday.
It's so easy to use and set up and sound is great. I do wish I got the video one as I would like to see what they get up to without opening the door but that It is a personal preference.
The coverage isn't that great if I go out the front and bubs room is at the back it beeps to let me know I'm out of coverage. But it is old so they may have improved that.
I bought another brand for my eldest when I had bub #2 and it was the worse.

Great features, works well for us.
Overall i'm really happy with this monitor. I was given it second hand. It took some getting used to.
Pros- the sensor pad is adjustable so with trial and error i got a perfect level of sensitivity.
You can plug in the cot side and use rechargable batterys on the parent unit. It has a audible ticking sound that you can turn on or off so you know bubs is moving without even looking or checking unit is turned on which has been really helpful for me especially in the middle of the night, just hearing it helps me relax knowing bub is ok. So far so good.
The instructions to set up the device were a little bit confusing but once I got to grips with them it was fine. I am very happy with the product and it is reliable & works well. The heart rate monitor has not yet given be a false alarm. So far I would say it is worth the money.

Peace of mind made easy...
I had two little ones born 12 months apart and it was an easy decision to buy a second Angelcare system for our youngest. Easy to set up, great range on the parent unit and my littlest poppet still uses the night light even now that he's three. Money well spent. Twice :)

A reliable brand
I purchased the AC401 based on the functions it showed and the baby movement pads for when baby is little, you know, a little bit of extra safety is wonderful
But
The extra features I feel this amazing baby monitor could do with.
Further instructions on how to turn the movement pads off when you lift baby out of the cot. Nothing worse than hearing baby cry at 3am go in to get him only 30 seconds later have this high pitched beeping going off at you for not turning it into Hold mode before picking up baby. It's not very clear in the instruc...
Read moretions. I thought ours was broken when we first got baby home. To turn the movement beeping off you just press and hold the 'hold' button - but you then get left with a single beep which reminds you the machine is on hold. Not so amazing at 3am when the rest of the house is trying to sleep. But also a very handy feature for a sleep deprived mum. The other is the parent display screen. I hate light in my room. You can't turn the display light off?! I've covered the monitor in our bedroom with all sorts of things just to stop it lighting up the whole room. The good parts. The easy to read display screen on the parent monitor. The clear sound. The easy to use features (once you get used to it) the simple design. Mine is still working solid after two years of being plugged in. I also take mine when we travel, always nice to have an ear on baby while your away in a noisy house. I always take the baby and parent monitor but recently have just started to take the baby monitor as we use the light on it for little man to have the same ambiance and consistency no matter where we are. I would recommend this product to other parents, it's very reliable and simple. Though I would test it out and get to know the movement 'hold' function first.

Great for peace of mind
Have found this monitor great for peace of mind.
Ny son is a tummy sleeper and refuses to sleep on his back (once he could roll by himself). He was also a very quiet baby when sleeping. If we had had a video monitor I wouldn't have been able to see what was happening as he would have been lying still on his tummy.
Monitor has very good (adjustable) sensitivity. Had a few false alarms when bub has moved to the edge of the mattress. Other than that it works well.

Good for peace of mind
So glad we bought a baby monitor, have had a few glitches with the handset randomly turning off, esp if its outside and warm. Bubs has also managed to set off the alarm when she's gone into a deep sleep and when she was moving around her bed and on her tummy it went off. So a very good warning for us to go and check on her. We rely so heavily on it and take it when we go anywhere overnight with her.
Reliable for breathing and temperature
handset can randomly turn off when off the base station.

Great product
I bought this unit second hand and I really like it! It's very reassuring that it picks up baby's breathing! I've had no problems with it so far.
One annoying little thing is how often it is set off and it does get set off just a little too late so very often, it gets set off but I can't hear baby making noises.
Reliable, easy o set up, breathing sensors work grate
Sound activation a little late, expensive

Peace of mind for mum and dad!
I love that this has a movement monitor which sounds a loud alarm if bub stops breathing for 20 seconds. As a new parent, I felt that I could relax when I put our son to bed knowing that I didn't have to check on him every few minutes to see that he was still alright!
The soft night light on the nursery unit is just the right amount of brightness, although the blinking 'pendulum' light is a little too bright and distracting. Having said that, it's nice being able to look up at the blinking light to know all is well. I also like the pendu...
Read morelum ticking sound that you can choose to have on or off, and the temperature display is a nice touch as well. If you need to change the settings for any reason, I found it to be a bit complicated and would always have to get the instruction manual out to check what everything meant. We have also had a couple of false alarms (only to the extent of the initial warning beep) as our son loves to lie right on the edge of his moses basket and possibly rolled off the sensor pads underneath the mattress. They were definitely false alarms as our son was wiggling around at the time at the edge of the moses basket trying to go to sleep. As another reviewer mentioned, there is a thin cord that runs from the sensor pad to the nursery unit. As our son is still in his moses basket, this means the cord has to run over the inside edge of the basket, which could potentially pose a strangulation hazard. Overall, this is a nice and compact little unit that looks great and gives us peace of mind. Looks good, works well, gives us peace of mind Occasional false alarm, changing settings is tricky (not intuitive) so you have to pull out the instruction manual.Find out how Angelcare AC401 compares to other Baby Monitors

Great for peace of mind
Great monitor only issue is had to replace power adapter after a year and a half and having constant charging issues even though i replace the batteries every few months. Not cheap for the rechargeable
Peace of mind when baby is sleeping
Not even 2 years before problems started to occur

Easy peace of mind.
Really easy to use straight out of the box. No interference. Handy temp gauge. Small parents unit that doesn't look too awful. Nice long cord. Handy very soft nightlight.
Can be quite sensitive and give false warning alarms although the only 2 times the alarm has properly gone off we are pretty certain my sons breathing had stopped as he was in a very deep sleep and floppy when we scooped him up.
No interference. Easy to use. Handy temp gauge and nightlight.
Can be a bit sensitive.

I am pleased we have it, my sister died of SIDS so it is as comforting for me as it is for my Mum. It worked much better when we lived in a house with carpet as mentioned above hard wood floors transmit lots of vibration through to the pad- I should put some carpet squares under the cot legs but haven't. The range is pretty good, I can almost get to the letterbox and still have signal.
Great peace of mind.
The temperature gauge is woefully inaccurate, it always reads 22 degrees which we've figured out is the temperature the base unit produces. ...

Great, peace of mind for a nervous new mum! The monitor is great, we had it with two sensor pads, never had a false alarm, not one problem!
We had a tummy sleeper from day one and this gave is great peace of mind. The units are small and way to use and the instructions were easy to follow to set up the sensitivity. The options to have it noose only, noise and
Movement, eta were great as we were able to customize the settings as our children got older.
So far so good, this monitor is on to our second child and we have never had a problem with anything.

We bought this unit, because our son was premature and we wanted a bit more peace of mind. I can see myself using this when he is first moved into a toddler bed, because the alarm will sound when he gets out. There is a lead running from the sensor pads under the mattress to the monitor (They need to be at least 38cm apart), so you need to be careful as this could be a strangulation risk. I would recommend the unit. You may need to play around with the sensitivity to get the balance right. Too sensitive and it will pick up other movement in the...
Read more room and not enough sensitivity and your child's breathing will not be detected. A little bit more peace of mind. Alarm often sounds when baby has wriggled off into the corner of the cot and is no longer over the pads. The temperature display is often inaccurate.- 15 reviews

Good
Overall I think this baby monitor is very good quality. It has many features and it's good how it detects breathing as well as sound.
I like how the parent unit displays the temperature in the baby's room. Having a second parent unit has come in handy. We keep it in our rumpus room for when we watch a loud movie so we can hear our little boy cry. Also, you can adjust the decibel level so the monitor doesn't switch on just for a little whimper.
This baby monitor was the most expensive one in the shop but the breathing detection pads give us some peace of mind when our baby's asleep. When my baby cries and the parent unit switches on in the middle of the night, it gives you a big fright!

Thank you for the question. Was this for an additional child or for an additional pad under the same mattress?...
