Broken after 6 months of light use
Paid $1899 for what I expected to be a great dishwasher. The fan component never worked well but I was willing to overlook that. There was an intermittent problem with the touch panel that became more frequent until it just stopped responding at all. At the first call out the technician was very arrogant and claimed customers usually let the control panel get very dirty so that the keys don't respond and then asked me to get a cloth so he could clean it. Lo and behold, it actually didn't work!! A part was ordered and was meant to be installed t...Read more
oday. The technician has broken the service contract as he did not call by 7pm last night to advise a time. Very disappointed in both the terrible quality of the expensive appliance and Asko's customer service. I would not purchase an Asko again and wouldn't hesitate to discourage others. There are many more better reviewed and less expensive dishwashers on the market! Update: so after cleaning the touch pad (which I was assured works all the time) and replacing the control panel Asko are now insisting on replacing the door. I've requested a refund or at least replacement so I can sell it and get a better brand but have been denied. This one is worthless now after such a short space of time and little use . Terrible customer service. Update: Asko replaced the door with a generic unbranded panel. They assured me it would be replaced ASAP with a genuine Asko product but 3 months down the track I still have an unbranded dishwasher I paid way too much money for.Similar opinion? Love it!
I absolutely love this dishwasher. The size is great, the dishes come out clean and completely dry (although I do use the heavy wash and extra dry options) and as a bonus it looks nice and doesn't show up finger marks. My only complaint is that the top cutlery draw is really stiff and annoying to pull out.

Well worth it.
We've had our ASKO dishwasher for about 10 months now and I love it. It does have difficulty with baked on food, but what dishwasher doesn't - I just take the baking dishes out straight away and scrub it off while it is still soft from the dishwasher, easy peasy. Other than that I have no complaints. It doesn't leave sandy grit on the inside of cups; no water marks on the dishes; no stagnant smell; no loud noises; fingerprint and streak free front; easy to lift out and clean filter; the racks never slide off the tracks. I love the knife support...Read more
; the utensil drawer; and, the collapsible racks on the bottom drawer so you don't have to bend the tines to get in large dishes and pots. I love that the bottom section is so deep so it can fit in awkward shaped, and large dishes. I love that the cutlery basked can sit anywhere on the bottom rack. It even washes my non-stick baking trays without damaging them. Excellent product.1 comment

Excellent product
Have had Fisher & Paykel, Smeg, Miele, and Bosch in past. This is is the best dishwasher I have ever owned. The racking is brilliant. We fit roughly 40% more than both the Bosch and Smeg. It is extremely quiet. The loudest sound is the water draining. Controls are very easy to use and results are excellent. We were Recommended this machine by a friend who had one. It is one of the few machines that pre washes (so you don't need to rinse) and is NOT prone to filters blocking. Both the Smeg and Bosch ( the old made it in Germany model) were good ...Read more
and lasted 12 years. They were repaired a few times each. The fisher and Paykel dish drawers were replaced or repaired 4 times in seven years. Once under warranty. I'm shocked they receive such a high rating, as I had nothing but dramas with mine, until I redesigned the kitchen to get rid of them. I'm a big fan of Miele, but wasn't sold on the condenser drying and filter cleaning required on their current dishwashers. We are very impressed with the asko. They are a solid machine, and you can see the quality of materials used. If it proves reliable, I will definetly be placing them in my other properties.Similar opinion? Waste of money and time.
First purchased our machine about 2 months ago. We were told it would be delivered and installed for us at no extra charge. The morning of delivery we were told it'd be a day late, still happy with the purchase. When the delivery person finally graced us with his presence the dishwasher was dumped in my kitchen to be installed by my father. Ok, little inconvenient but still fine. Two washes in and the door mechanism gave out on us and needed to be replaced. Little annoyed at this point but factory defects do happen. We began to become a little ...Read more
agitated when we were told it would take a week and a half to replace our faulty dishwasher though. Part of the draw to Asko was their great reputation for customer service (or so the store clerk told us). So we waited a week and a half and this time the dishwasher delivery guy installed the machine for us! Everything seemed to be going well, until tonight. When our 2 and a half month old dishwasher experienced an F11 (drain blockage) error. So we pulled out the pipes and cleaned the inside of the machine and ran it through a quick wash just to double check the machine. Even though we'd not found anything (there was a stray pea in the catch) blocking the machine it still would not run. We'd previously had a miele dishwasher last us 7 years without fault so to transition to this is... well, it's a $1500 paperweight and little more. I'm sorry but I'll be asking for a refund and going elsewhere. 1 star and that's only because I can't rate it any lower.1 comment

Asko dishwasher a pleasant, quality surprise I just bought.
Needing another new dishwasher and having just spent 3 weeks off and on reading reviews and comparing models in store, I resolved myself that the days of solid built reliable mostly metal appliances like the ones 30 years ago that I used to service as a repair electrician were either gone or out of my budget so I decided that I might as well go with the flow and buy something full of plastic again in my price range and hope for the best.
Having narrowed my selection down to a Snazzy looking leading brand built in one I liked amongst the myri...Read more
ad of dishwasher choices because of size, appearance and recommendations I resolved I would buy that one. To my disappointment when I got close and inspected the machine it was full of plastic parts and felt a bit tinny and I had second thoughts about it as only having 2 lower plastic spray arms wasn't doing it for me. I wanted a cutlery tray with its own spray arm having had average performance from my 2 previous different brand machines with upper cutlery drawers, so I assume one more spray arm should fix that. A salesman sat 2nds world online and Penrith store suggested I take a look at his Asko machine he was pointing me toward which was $1300 instead of $1800 ex display but like new. Having only looked at one other of their models I didn't think was too bad so I thought for that discount I'll give it a look. When I checked it out the quality in it was obvious. Besides the full stainless steel internal cabinet and 3 stainless steel spray arms inside it including one for the upper cutlery tray, it had an external thick hard plastic sealed insulation instead of the underlay like insulation loosely packed around cabinets I saw on some of the other brands built in models. From experience I have found the underlay type insulation cockroaches like living and breeding in where it gets warm so not having that there was a huge plus. The metal racks inside it seem to be coated in something harder than normal plastic and the racks come in and out easily by big wheels. My overall impression of it is it reminds me of a commercial machine under the hood with minimal gimmicks and finishes off nicely with a small easy to use controller on the front door and can sit back in flush with the front of the adjacent cupboards and screws in fixed. My only hesitancy was the lack of Aqua safe valve on the water intake and they just have a plastic hose which apparently is Plex, the same material as the fixed plumbing in your house so it mustn't require an electric safety shut of valve. For peace of mind I bought a $12 Water Wizz flood stop valve off eBay that will fix the potential burst hose flooding issue if needed and on the upside is one less electric thing to fail and need to be replaced by a service call I guess.Similar opinion? F12 Error
Love the dishwasher! The configuration inside is great it so quiet and so easy to use HOWEVER from the first week we have had the machine we have the F12 message (and beeps!) occur randomly every few days. We requested someone come out (1 week old) until we found out that if the fault didnt occur when they came out WE would be up for $$ call out. Turning the power off seemed to rectify it that first time. We were subsequently told to switch it off, let the machine "rest" then turn it on and hold down the on button to "reset" the computer.... th...Read more
is works some of the time but may require several attempts!. In the short space of 2 months of having the dishwasher this problem has occurred probably 18 times! Im too afraid to call someone out ($$$) but it isnt good enough that a new dishwasher should have this much trouble!.A free service call would be the least that could be offered,Would I recommend an Asko...probably not.3 comments

A quality product that gets the job done...
I recently replaced a poor performing LG dishwasher with this Asko machine and I'm so happy that I did. The Asko is fantastic, and has some great features. It cleans and dries the dishes perfectly (with no need for rinsing), performs quietly, and is easy to use. So far, I have only used the Daily Wash program and I've been very pleased with the results. The internal size of the dishwasher is relatively large compared to other dishwashers and the layout has been thoughtfully designed. This model includes a top cutlery tray and a cutlery basket (...Read more
which can be removed if you need more space in the lower drawer) and the lower basket has foldable tines, which is great when you have a lot of pots and pans to wash. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this machine. It is brilliant.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Do you have to use the cover on the lower cutlery rack? I’ve just purchased this dishwasher and discovered that all of my cutlery pieces are too wide to fit through the holes on the cover. Without the cover on the receptacles for the cutlery are much shallower than my previous dishwasher and I wonder if they will stay in.
1 answer
Do you mean the cutlery 'basket'. I've never used the cover and cutlery has never fallen out.

I need a dishwasher that really dries the dishes. The Asko D5456WH was recommended to me by the salesperson for the turbo fan for drying. Just want to know does it really work and how noisy is it when the fan is running? Our new kitchen is in an open plan living/dining area (only living area in the house) and also only 5 metres (2 walls) from a holiday flat I rent out, so don't want it to be too noisy.

The dishwasher is very quiet. I set the programme to Eco. Some items were not quite dried, so once the dishwasher finished, I left it for quite some time so everything dried. The superseded model was much better regarding programming. I'm not super happy with this one. Very expensive and not up to scratch. I'm seriously contemplating replacing it and not with an Asko.
Certainly not noisy when it doesn't work, after only 3 years! Very expensive machine, nothing extraordinary about it in any way, and I most definitely don't recommend any Asko product! Forget anyone being able to help you with fixing it.

When you fill the rinse aid container, approx how many wash cycles do you get before having to refill it ?
2 answers
I'm sorry, I've never counted. The container seems to take a lot of rinse aid. I use the dishwasher probably every second or third day (there's only two of us) and so far I've used one 500ml bottle and three quarters of a second 500ml bottle of rinse aid. I've had the dishwasher since end of August. I hope this helps.
Thanks Rosemary. Yes, I also thought the container took a lot of rinse aid. Like you, there is also just the 2 of us and we wash about every third day. Guess I'll probably use a similar amount to you.
Cheers
