Didn't work
I bought an Australia Post travel SIM for use in New Zealand. I couldn't activate it, and was told on a chat line that it was being blocked by Optus. As I own my mobile phone outright I thought that this should be impossible. When I got back to Australia I went to an Optus shop and was told that my mobile hadn't been blocked by Optus at all.
Purchased in September 2021 at Australia Post Offices for A$25.00.

Not happy
Used the travel sim in Europe & London in December 18 & May 19 no problems. Had to recharge for NZ now & it will not work. Why? I rang my friend & number shows as coming from UK. I cannot ring numbers in NZ.
Purchased in August 2021 for A$75.00.

total failure to deliver
bought 2 sims so my wife & i could contact each other if we got separated in UK.
hers worked so she could send sms to me but i couldn't respond or send sms to her.
found that the app on website was wrong, they allocated additional numbers as backup as they were having technical issues, but that was no comfort while abroad. Spent time on the phone to Australia trying to get problems sorted out.
Don't waste your money. should have taken the advice of the Optus salesrep and bought a phone when we got overseas
Purchased in August 2021 at australia post shop for A$50.00.

What has Happened to this product?
I have held an Australia Post Travel Sim for a number of years and have always been impressed by the high level of customer service. Not anymore, my recent experience with this organisation was far from satisfactory. A helpful staff member advised, when I had a question, that my current Sim needed to be upgraded. He also advised that when the new card arrived I should ring to arrange the transfer of my existing credit to the new Sim. After three attempts to contact APT Sim by phone and being timed out every time as there were no customer servi...Read more
ce reps available I decided to activate the Sim on the website. Having recently been through this process with Aldi I was amazed at how difficult this process was with APT Sim. However I eventually navigated my way through this process and then had to figure out how to get the $80 remaining credit transferred to my new card. I sent an email to the Support Team asking for a callback, nothing. I then went through the long waiting times to speak to an operator and after again being cut off because no reps were available I finally got through to someone who was quickly able to resolve my problem. Has this Australia Post product become so popular that the staffing levels in their call centre are unable to cope with the demand or like a lot of other organisations have they forfeited good customer service by reducing the staff? Very disappointed with the overall experience whilst acknowledging that when I managed to speak to someone they were helpful and efficient.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Australia Post should be ashamed to endorse this product
As a couple traveling to Canada and USA we bought two cards (one for each phone) and checked the 'region one' coverage and thought the $100 investment was worthwhile. This involved the base card $25 per card (= $20 for the card and $5 voice credit) and paid $25 on each card for the data pack as we work with iMessage and almost never use voice (unless forced to do so). Thought we were "all set". NOPE!
This is NOT a pre-paid card. Firstly we used voice credit when calling up in Australia to set the card up (did not know this), then, we got stuck ...Read more

Unusable
NOT RECOMENDED.
As with other bad reviews my service was usless in Western Europe as despite having activated and tested the SIM in Aus any O/S attempts failed. All phone settings were tried and both SIM slots used also. The only messages received were to advise of new country and "beware excess data and call charges may occurr....". In the last week of 4 weeks I was able to use messaging and thats where $4.50 of the $35 was accounted, however the full amount was deducted and it still keeps showing $3/week incrementing in debt ! Use WhatsApp or similar when you have WiFi as that worked for the most part as an alternative.

Save your money
Bought 2 Australia Post travel SIM's to go to to Europe. Had a great deal of trouble getting it to work. Their tech help was very good, after numerous calls it worked. However we found it expensive 25c/min for calls and 25/text to make and to RECEIVE unless your call is to/from an Australia Post travel SIM when there is no charge. Save your money and buy a SIM in the country you are going to. We bought one in the UK for 15 pounds ($A27) which had 5GB data and 500 mins of calls with NO addition charges, 30 days expiry, when we renewed the data rolled over. It worked well throughout the UK and EU and didn't need to contact their help desk to set up.

They cancel your account and your funds are unrecoverable.
I have had an AUS POST travel SIM for several years. I use it seldom, as the rates are quite high, but it is good to have security of a SIM when travelling.
It requires 6monthly (approx) top ups, even with a reasonable (>$25) balance to sustain.
So for an infrequent user the balance keeps creeping up.
I had a reminder for renewal in May, which I missed due to a very busy period of work and other activities.
I now find my SIM has expired, my account has expired and my funds are 'impossible' to recover - according to their phone operator. And...Read more

Just too hard
Purchased the sim for data in Canada. Had to call the help line to activate it as the language was not clear about which of the many codes we were issued was correct. Didn't work when we arrived in Canada- Help line again. Data meter went from full to zero without using it. Didn't work when we tried to reload and left us stranded without maps for 6hrs waiting for reload to update. This is NOT a good product.

Meant to be easy but it isn't.
Works finer overseas (UK) for calls and SMS but data roaming failed. Still trying to work out why. Tried all the tricks, such as turned data on, turned phone off then on again, etc. Possibly to do with the Access Point Names settings. Instructions are lacking. Found an old user guide about how to set the APN but not sure if it's still valid. Never again will I use TravelSIM. Better to stick with the original service provider and pay up for data roaming, which isn't that unreasonable these days.

e and borderline scam It took me ages to configure the phone to make it work. Once done it worked fine. The main issue though any credit that is left when back in Australia is lost. So in essence it can be considered to be a scam since one could be left with a huge slab of money lost.Purchased in September 2021 at Australia Post Offices for A$75.00.

very expensive and deceptive advertising
the australia post SIM card advertises $25 for 1 gig of data, but doesnt make it clear that your initial purchase of $25 is only for the SIM., You need to spend another $25 to get the data. So the total cost of $50 makes it very very expensive compared to buying a SIM at foreign airports on arrival. The US, Canada, Europe, NZ and Singaporean airports all offer monthly data and phone deals for $20-30. The auspost sim is only OK if you want the convenience of buying it before you leave.

Didn't work, not even able to receive SMS.
I joined with a local plan as it looked like I could travel overseas and keep my number, adding GB of data as I need it. Unfortunately however the roaming just didn't work, not even joining a network. This meant I couldn't receive SMS for my bank accounts, or messages from the airline when they lost my luggage.
I went through all the steps suggested to fix it, and customer service did respond but they couldn't fix it.
Further, I had some issues with the local plan at home. Not huge problems, but overall it was a lot of hassle and I got the ...Read more

Does the job, good support experience
My travel Australia Post prepaid travel SIMs have done what they needed to do with phone and data services. I once lost a printed credit voucher before applying it (my fault). I was able to get a reprint of the transaction from the Australia Post outlet, then got the top-up from the support centre with no arguments (after some initial confusion). On my first time with the SIM I wasn't warned that the phone service doesn't always work in the normal way. When making a call, you sometimes get a call back rather than an immediate answer from the other end, and that confused me a lot at first.

Useless and waste of money
My sister and I purchased a travel sim each for a 1 week stint overseas visiting family. We were mostly connected to the WiFi but did need to use our travel sim when WiFi wasn't available. We were never able to receive real time usage updates via the app and now we are back and have logged to check our accounts, we can see we both have a negative balance. Why doesn't the service restrict access if you have run out of credit? If I want to use the travel sim again, I need to pay the negative balance that I owe $145 and then I can top up and use t...Read more
he sim again. If you've run out of credit, why are you still able to use data and make/receive calls? What is the point of topping up? I did not read anywhere when setting the sim up that this would be the case - very sneaky and misleading. I will never use this travel sim service again and I would urge anyone else considering it to be very wary!!Purchased in July 2021.

I love this Travelsim
My husband & myself bought a "travel sim" SD card, just before we went overseas for the first time. It had been recommended to us by a friend & we found it amazing. Cheap, reliable, easy to use, rates were just so cheap compared to other ways to keep in touch ie Roaming, which is very expensive. We were able to contact each other easily if we were in different areas of large buildings, churches etc. We can use them in Australia to ring overseas at a cheap rate, or just use it for any phone calls. The help line is open 24/7 & you can reach them on Email or by phone anytime of the day or night. We would NEVER travel without our Travelsim!!!

Shocking waste of money!
Looking at how much data I would get, when I compared with local SIM cards in the USA, I thought this would be comparable in price, but easier to set up. Well it was certainly easy to set up, but my god! It really chewed through some very expensive data! I have no idea how it chewed through so much data. I never watched video on it. I never streamed music or radio through it. There were a few times I was driving around cities using the GPS function in google maps and that’s it! I never used location services outside of the cities or even most o...Read more
f the time in cities. Still, somehow this sim managed to gobble up two gigs in less than two weeks! And the minimum payment for extra data is $25 for one gig! I stopped using the GPS and just started writing down directions in my hotel room! It might be easy to set up and add credit, but it’s going to cost you sooo much more than a local sim.Purchased in July 2021 for A$25.00.

Worst product - AVOID!
Three years ago when I travelled to Europe I purchased a TravelSIM and it worked quite well - sometimes didn't connect to the network but mainly ok. This time I purchased another and found AP had taken over the product - I thought "great, it'll be even better". Wrong. It barely worked and just when I needed it most (single traveller) it let me down. Spent $175 all up on the sim and credit but should have just bought a sim when I arrived in Europe. The app is terrible - have to log in with a pin, then insert email and another password every time...Read more
you go into it?!? How ridiculous. It also doesn't save your account details so you can easily add credit, you have to enter credit card details each time. There's no time for this when on holiday and the old TravelSIM used to enable this. Couldn't access data so couldn't see if I had credit, it just didn't work. Also when I did manage to get into the app on wifi connection, it told me I had $9 or so credit, when in fact I apparently had none. My parents couldn't even call me when the credit was gone (and I didn't know). It's very dangerous to cut people off like that when they are abroad and alone. I requested support via the chat function and got cut off, then received an email of the transcript and thought someone would respond to my request for help given they had my contact details from the chat but they didn't. Have requested a listing of my usage since returning and have not received this either. I need to make sure I was charged correctly because I spent a fortune on credit, yet could never get the thing to work. Very annoyed!Purchased in June 2021 at Australia Post Offices.
