Great! Can't Complain gets the job done and more
No idea why there's poor reviews on this product?!
It does a brilliant job of cleaning for carpets, upholstery and stairs! I have been using it consistently for the past 3 years, nothing breaks down, its like a heavy duty machine that the whole family can always count on. with asthmatic family members and sensitive pets, the whole family lives so much better and less sneezing and allergy with this.
It is expensive but worth every penny imo, I no longer need to spend a fortune on professional cleaners and it does the job just as good.
The horrid colour of the water after each clean is disgusting but just shows that it's cleaning my carpets efficiently!

Awful, dont waste your Money
Would never buy one again, doesnt clean that well, might make the carpets etc smell nice however, its heavy cumber son, the water tank leaks, doesn't get hot enough. My sprayer stopped working, rang customer service line which was rubbish, have to rebox etc to have it collected, repaired etc. Very very disappointed (not like it was a few hundred bucks these things are expensive). My suggestion is dont buy one have your carpets professionally cleaned, or use the ones at the supermaket and hire it for the day.

Great carpet shampoo machine.
I just bought the Bissell Lift Off Deep Cleaner (BS10N4F) from the Harvey Norman Boxing day sales. RRP was $899, Boxing Day only shelf price was $799 but we got it for $687 as we bought a Bosch Vacuum cleaner and a Baymix at the same time. Interesting to see that the H/N online price is $749 - so the Boxing Day special was clearly a load of crap.
Anyhow after using the cleaner to clean my 8 month old medium length carpets - I was amazed at what came out and the horrid colour of the water! It was not only very murky but it was loaded with ...Read more
dirt and sand. We are a shoes off house although the new dog has been allowed to rule the roost of late. The suction was fine to me and after comparing the amount of water I put in the unit vs what was in the dirty tank after cleaning left me with around 85-90% of the water was sucked up. Not too sure why people are complaining about suction issues. Yes the carpets are a little wet but atleast you know that the water has deeply penetrated the carpet. Put it this way - if you put a piece of non glossy paper on the carpet and push on it - it won't get wet. The clean water tank is a little small and most makes don't list the size of the tank so it is hard to compare. So yes it does require a lot of refilling. It all depends how fast you move when you put the water on the carpets with the trigger button. Setting the cleaner up out of the box isn't too hard - 4 screws need to be installed to join the handle together using a No2 screwdriver - a magnetic head and a 100mm shaft are an absolute must however. I think Bissell could really make an improvement here - it was easy for me but if you aren't all that practical then you will need someone to help you. Bear in mind that once it is done that you wont need to do it ever again. Lastly I just wanted to make mention of the upper handle - you can feel the 2 halves of the handle casting moving against each other when you twist the unit to move it onto the next row you want to clean - it wont ever break of anything but it doesn't really instill a feeling of quality where as the rest of the machine is really very impressive for the price. Love the lift off part for doing the couch etc.

Wow, this machine is a lifesaver
Had a 'professional' carpet cleaner in a few days prior to moving into this house and he did a woeful job and I wasn't about to send another $160+ that way again. Time to start reading reviews and educating myself as to what machines were currently available. The last carpet shampooer I owned did an OK job providing the carpets weren't too dirty, but that was alright because it was an older machine and technology has improved so much there had to be something better....and I found it!!!
The previous reviews on this site left me a bit uneas...Read more
y but after watching a couple of videos, decided to take the plunge and buy one, I could always resell if it didn't work out but this particular machine wasn't being sold secondhand, whereas other models were plentiful, so that told me something too. I also looked into hiring a machine but they are too cumbersome and heavy to do the stairs and then you need to rush them back to the store, besides the carpets here had become quite dirty during some renovation work (tradies like to make as much mess on floors as they possibly can). The machine arrived a couple of weeks ago, and immediately I tried the lift-off unit to do the stairs as that was going to be the most difficult area to clean. Success!! I cleaned the stairs several times and the carpet quite literally, changed colour due to more embedded dirt from work boots than I ever thought possible. Over the last few days I've been doing the hallway and bedroom carpets and what a change, I can't believe how great they look and this machine has saved me the cost of re-carpeting because that was the next (and only) option. The carpet is 20yo, plush pile pure wool and I'm suspect (for many reasons) it's commercial grade...it's in good condtion and much too good to replace but now it will last another 20 years. Thank you Bissell, you've saved me several thousand dollars and to top it off, I can clean the carpets whenever I want because the machine is super easy to use, and while I agree it is noisy (just wear ear muffs) it does a fantastic job of extracting water, so that's a simple trade-off. I love the idea of separate, and removable, tanks which are so easy to fill and empty, if they were a larger capacity they would be heavier. A tankful does a bedroom, so no complaints from me on that score either.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

So far so good
Update
18 months down the track since i wrote my initial review
Still using the machine every few months...very convenient and effective and it works great! (able to do a few areas/rooms at a time, no time pressures!)
Initial review from June 2014
I have used the 10n4f twice now and it has done a reasonable job
It is not made of titanium- most things are made of plastic now
I got it on sale at Harvey Norman at Springvale center - great deal! ask for Herta - she knows customer service!
It doesn't spray too much water and sucks it up well
One thing - be careful when you hold the plastic water tank when it is full - it is slippery!

Junk, its only worth $99
I can't believe the RRP is $899! what a rip off!, i managed to get this one on sale, but its just junk! the plastic is so weak and the handle does not screw on properly.
The water does not get hot enough
There is not enough suction to soak the water back up, its really wet still compared to other machines.
You brush is continually going so you can't just use the suction to suck up the water, you risk tearing your carpet to bits.
The brushes are not even. They leave patches on the carpet. some patches are lighter than others.
the water tank...Read more

Great improvement from Bissell, but weak suction
I have used a few carpet washers in the past. I have used Bissell's 2in1 tank and found it digusting and difficult to clean. Then I tried Vax Rapide Ultra II, the separate tank is much easier to clean and use, but not easy to clean the stairs. I found the Lift-Off portable washer and separate clean/dirty tanks great improvement from their previous products. However, the noise it creates does not correlate to suction power. Lift-Off leaves carpets wet when compared to Vax Rapide Ultra II.
Separate clean/dirty tank system
Loud motor, weak suction, the dirty tank is not locked in place and simply sit on the machine by gravity
