Questions & Answers

The battery life on my Bosch stick vacuum has shortened dramatically. This may have coincided with our installation of new carpet. Could there be another explanation? Do I need a new battery? We've had it less than two years.

Mike, I'd be guessing about your situation. A couple things come to mind though. It makes sense that a longer pile carpeting would cause your Bosch to work harder and thus shorten the usable between change life of the battery. Also, like any chargeable battery, they sometimes developed a memory. In other words, they think they are charged but actually they aren't. I'm not sure of the battery type the Bosch has. Another thought is to keep the filter clean. I clean mine after each use to ensure free flow of air. Once blocked, the workload on the vacuum increases tremendously and that will shorten battery life. I've had mine 1 year and use it daily for light dirt on a low pile carpet. I have noticed a slightly shorter battery life between charges but for the area I use the Bosch on, it lasts two full days. I do place it on the charge cradle after each use and I might be dealing a bit with the battery memory issue. I hope this helps!
