Considering throwing it out.

published

Worked well at first, now almost useless. The 'sensor control' system kicks in constantly. Meaning you can never vacuum for more than about a minute, and even then the vacuum sounds like it is struggling, despite multiple and frequent cleans of all the filters. I spent good money on this brand, deciding it was better to buy a 'quality' machine in the hope it would last year's. I reckon a $50 Kmart model would do better. Very very disappointing to see multiple reviews saying the same. I hope this has been removed from sale.

Purchased at RetraVision for $350.00.

Expensive piece of crap.

I have the same vacuum as everybody else has with exactly the same problem. If you take all the filters out it still has the same problem, so definitely not a dirty filter problem. I have also completely stripped the machine down to just bits, definitely no blockage in the machine. I then reassembled it, same problem. Bosch don't want to know about it. Customer service has probably been told not to acknowledge there is a problem with this unit.

Once you locate the 3 rd filter the cut off stops happening

published

I took mine back twice until someone showed me the third filter there are 2 finger holes near where the hose connects, open it up and you will see a cone shaped filter. Once you clean that, the vacuum works fine.
It’s badly described in the instruction book. Cleaning this filter fixes the problem

DO NOT BUY THIS USELESS VACUUM

published

This is the worse vacuum cleaner I have ever had. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT. Obviously there is a problem if it is discontinued, but we have been left with a useless machine. The sensor light comes on even when filters are clean and no blockages. Spoke to the service department and all they did was email the instruction book to show where all the filters are.

Expensive waste of money

published

Sensor light keeps coming on, filter has been cleaned and no blockages, so there is no reason for it to be shutting down and not working. I have used it twice and now it doesn't work as sensor light comes on and it shuts down after about 60 seconds of use. I paid $399 for it so that works out to be a $200 cost per time I have used it. Wow Bosch are laughing all the way to the bank on this. So many more people have been ripped off too. Unacceptable Bosch. Do the correct thing and refund our money. Selling someone a faulty product for financial gain is called fraud!!!

It was an awful vacuum cleaner.

published

We bought it at harvy norman at the price $388 a year ago. And, it broke down after about 6months.
We took it to harvy norman, what they said was that we will need to pay for it if it is not fault vacuum itself, and the staff there also mentioned that most of time it is not fault vacuum itself. I hate bosch vacuum i would never buy anything from bosch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Piece of Junk! Do not buy!

Worst machine ever - cannot perform sole task of a vacuum - to suck up dust and dirt. I have a small 2 bed apartment and yet it gets clogged each use! I need to clean the filter halfway through every single clean. There is a clear design fault. Also the power cord it's so sensitive and winds itself up at the slightest pull so effectively unplugs itself from the socket multiple times each use. Do not buy this vacuum. I am furious that I got sold this machine by a pushy sales person at Harvey Norman. And I see it has now been discontinued. I miss my Miele!

Bosch Runn'n

published

I agree with all the bad reviews written about the Bosch Runn'n. I purchased it to replace a Phillips Jewel which was old and not working particularly well. I now use the Phillips Jewel instead of the Bosch Runn'n as it is impossible to vacuum a room never mind a house with the Bosch without continually stopping, cleaning filters etc etc.

Blinking red light & crashing expectations

Well, I have nothing new to add here but couldn't stop from sharing similar experience of having expected a high quality product that turned out to be as dud as it gets. I am surprised that a company of Bosch's repute hasn't recalled the product and/or shared a way to fix the issue.

On some of the more tech savvy forums read it is an issue of faulty thermal switch caused by the filter around the motor. And here we are cleaning up the filters after every use.

Can't use it on my 1-bedder carpeted unit without the light going off 5-6 times.

So frustrating

published

I bought this thinking I would spend the money and buy a decent vacuum cleaner. It has been nothing but frustrating, it keeps turning off because of the sensor, it happens every couple of minutes. I have regularly washed the filter, and replaced the other one only to have the problem continuing. The problem has been doing it continuously since I purchased the vacuum cleaner. The store I bought it from refuses to cover anything under warranty, so I don't think I will ever look at a Bosch product ever again.

Worst vacuum I've ever owned - don't waste your money !

published

I think I am just repeating what everyone else has said. I had a Bissell that lasted years and then also got talked into buying this one from Harvey Norman. Should have trusted my instinct and bought another Bissell but the sales lady raved and raved about this one. Plus it was more expensive so I stupidly presumed I was getting a superior product. Not in the slightest. Worst vacuum I've owned in all my years. The stupid red light is on constantly. I am ready to throw it in the bin and go and buy a trusty Bissell

Terrible!

published

I purchased this vacuum cleaner after the assistant at Harvey Norman strongly recommended it. It worked fine to begin with but after six months it lost its suction and also started stopping in the middle of a clean. I'm extremely disappointed with the product, especially given the price point of $350.

Not worth the money

published

Ever since we have purchased this vacuum we were lucky to vacuum the house once without the filter blocking. Now the filters have to be completely cleaned with water every time we use it. Very frustrating . I tried to purchase a full set of filters to have a back up, but to know avail. Buy with caution. We too were talked into getting this at Harvey Norman, and my husband worked there at the time selling white goods. There were many to pick from and we trusted their opinion, big mistake. Better to do your own research, even it you work there.

DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM CLEANER

published

Honestly, a vacuum cleaner has one function, to suck up dust. What sort of vacuum cleaner shuts itself off when it has decided it has sucked up too much dust?! WHO SIGNED OFF ON THAT FUNCTION?! I have rang Harvey Norman and Bosch and neither were helpful at all. They just told me I needed to buy new filters. For a $400 vacuum cleaner, i don't appreciate having to buy a $50 filter every year.

This Bosch Runn'n (can't see the model number) was AMAZING for the first few months, we were beaming at just how great it was.... NOW the sensor light goes off and the vacuum stops working not just every time we use it but multiple times in one use. We have a very small 3 bedroom Victorian house and despite cleaning the filters and whole inside of the vacuum each use the sensor still keeps going off, in turn stopping the vacuum from working. This is so frustrating especially since we paid around $800 for it! Gahhhhh this vacuum cleaning is terrible! I just want a replacement that works!

I already sent the vacuum cleaner BGS4220au/03 to repair twice during last two years. Today the vaccumn has no suction and the noise is like the sound of boiled water. I checked the filter and cleaned the two filter. It is still like that, the same problem..What's wrong with it?

Runn'n BGS4220AU

Its quite frustrating that the Sensor Control Light goes on every few seconds even though none of the filters are blocked. Recently, I noticed that the secret sponge based filter that sits under the plastic panel on the side has a tear on it. i suspect this is issue triggering frequent sensor control light. Is there a way to replace this filter?
Also the chord retractor mechanism seems to be broken in just about 2 yrs. of usage.

This particular bosch vacuum cleaner has a manufacturing fault with the sensor light continually coming on for no apparent reason. Mine starting playing up and sensor issues and being unable to use the vacuum cleaner any longer than 1 minute before it shut itself down, this happened from just the second time I used the appliance since purchasing it.
Borch should of recalled this model from sale but they didn't and as a result many people ended up paying big money for a faulty product.

i noticed that one of the filter (sponge based filter under the lid) was bit torned. i tried to chase customer care. the filter costs $1 odd but postage is $30 odd as its shipped from their warehouse in victoria somewhere so i just gave up dont want to spend any more money on already aged product with less reliability. sigh. i thought bosch was a good brand with good customer service in general.

Runn'n BGS4220AU

Hi There.
We own a Bosch GS40 2000W (BGS4200GB/02).
We are getting all the usual problems as stated by many other people - red sensor light keeps coming on no matter how often you clean all the filers?
That is a shame because when the vacuum cleaner actually works it is very good and has really good suction.

Obviously there is some sort of design problem here which Bosch are reluctant to admit.
Is there a conversion kit or anything I can do myself to cure this problem - I'm thinking here in terms of a replacement sensor etc. as I am reluctant to spend yet more money on this vacuum as it stands.

Thanks Very Much................Billy.
