I already sent the vacuum cleaner BGS4220au/03 to repair twice during last two years. Today the vaccumn has no suction and the noise is like the sound of boiled water. I checked the filter and cleaned the two filter. It is still like that, the same problem..What's wrong with it?

Its quite frustrating that the Sensor Control Light goes on every few seconds even though none of the filters are blocked. Recently, I noticed that the secret sponge based filter that sits under the plastic panel on the side has a tear on it. i suspect this is issue triggering frequent sensor control light. Is there a way to replace this filter?
Also the chord retractor mechanism seems to be broken in just about 2 yrs. of usage.

This particular bosch vacuum cleaner has a manufacturing fault with the sensor light continually coming on for no apparent reason. Mine starting playing up and sensor issues and being unable to use the vacuum cleaner any longer than 1 minute before it shut itself down, this happened from just the second time I used the appliance since purchasing it.
Borch should of recalled this model from sale but they didn't and as a result many people ended up paying big money for a faulty product.
i noticed that one of the filter (sponge based filter under the lid) was bit torned. i tried to chase customer care. the filter costs $1 odd but postage is $30 odd as its shipped from their warehouse in victoria somewhere so i just gave up dont want to spend any more money on already aged product with less reliability. sigh. i thought bosch was a good brand with good customer service in general.

Hi There.
We own a Bosch GS40 2000W (BGS4200GB/02).
We are getting all the usual problems as stated by many other people - red sensor light keeps coming on no matter how often you clean all the filers?
That is a shame because when the vacuum cleaner actually works it is very good and has really good suction.
Obviously there is some sort of design problem here which Bosch are reluctant to admit.
Is there a conversion kit or anything I can do myself to cure this problem - I'm thinking here in terms of a replacement sensor etc. as I am reluctant to spend yet more money on this vacuum as it stands.
Thanks Very Much................Billy.

I have been so happy with this vac, particularly the noise level, but cleaned the filters 2 days ago and now the noise is frightening by comparison. I have done everything by the book re cleaning, drying and inserting them back into the machine. Any suggestions welcome.

Out of sheer desperation and trying not appear too blonde, the only thing left that I could think of before taking it in for a safety check was to empty the front dust container. It only had a small amount of dust in it, but once that was done, the noise level has returned to normal. Maybe the two filters were seeing the dust as an alien...... don't know, but am thankful it's righted itself.

I also have the same problem.sensor light goes on after 1-2 mins vacuuming even after washing/cleaning all filters. I used to be a huge fan of Bosche, but now don't recommend it at all. Really do not know what to do with it. Has anyone know how much are the filters? Why does not Bosche provide the filters for free for the customers???

Hi, I'd like to share my experience with anyone has the same problem.
After I wrote review, the Bosche customer service team suggested me to contact them. I called the home appliance section a month ago. Firstly they did listen then suggested me clean the filters. I told them I had done this many times. I asked if I could have it refund. They advised they could not give refund but repairing. I was asked to run the machine without filters to test. I tried and the machine still stopped after 1 minute. I called back to advise and been told they would send me filter without charge. I had waited 2 weeks+ but haven"t received filter. I called again then been told they were waiting for the result of running machine without filter. I actually told the result 2 weeks ago. This time someone promised they would send all the filters out staight away. I waited another week without receiving anything. I was so so so frustrated but still had to call them as they had never made any phone call to me. I was told that because I couldn't tell which filter need to be changed, they didn't know which one to send nd they were not able to send all filters to me. As I had no idea which filter could be wrong, they decided to send me the main one (on top). After this conversation finally I received the filter last Friday. It took almost a month. But...the vacuum cleaner stopped after 1 minute with the new filter on. All these words just for your reference to judge the quality of Bosche's customer service.
I will call the Bosche to let them know the result as they required. But I realized now all the hassel above was useless but just wasting of time.
I've sent the machine to Harvey Norman where I purchased it last Saturday. They took it in and would send it to Bosche to have it repaired.
I don't know what the result will be. I will let you know as soon as I get back from HN. Iucky I bought this from HN whose customer service is good.
This product is still on HN's shelf. I think Bosche should recall all the products as it is immature since its custmers has been suffering.
By the way, I had my carpet changed a week ago. Harvey Norman in Alexandria lent me a vacuum cleaner to ensure the job done. The Vax vacuum cleaner was very good. So a brand with big name don't mean good quality. At least I won't buy any Bosche products. The customer care members do not care about their customers.
What I suggest you to do is: send the machine to where you purchased it staight away. It has 2 years warranty so it should be covered.

I have the same problem as everyone else, the sensor light comes after a few minutes vacuuming and I am sick of wasting my time . The filters are clean. So many complaints about this, why hasn't Bosche addressed the issue on this site. I do not have time to spend waiting on a phone line which will obviously be very busy if everyone with this problem is ringing you. Has anyone contacted the department of fair trading about this issue?

Can i buy replacement filters for the bosch vacuum cleaner model BG55220AAU03?
The filters are cleaned but the sensor light and slow down happens repeatedly. I can't do more than a minute before it shuts down..don't know if I replace the filters whether this will solve the problem.

We would recommend following the visual instruction on the page of the user manual, most of the filters can be rinsed in cold water, they must be 100% dry before being placed back into the machine.
