Great until warranty runs out....then turns into a heap of junk
Worked perfectly on carpet or floor tiles....until warranty ran out. Sensor Control simply cuts in and stops machine working effectively, even when all filters have been cleaned and dust bin emptied after every use. Not a great product from a supposedly quality based company
Purchased in November 2021 at Harvey Norman for $450.00.

will never buy a Bosch product again
Not happy. Small two bedroom house and have to empty vacuum cleaner at least twice to vaguely clean the floor. Mostly the dust just moves around while I try to vacuum. Sent it back for repairs and was told nothing was wrong. Nearly $400 spent on something useless. Customer service was no help. Quite rude sometimes. I will never buy another Bosch product again.

Worst vacuum cleaner ever!
As with every other review, this vacuum cleaner turns off every 2mins due to the "sensor control technology". I called Bosch and explained my problem, having had the machine for 3 months and having cleaned the filters multiple times. They advised that I take the vacuum for assessment at their maintenance and repairs centre, which I did. After having the vacuum cleaner assessed, i was told that i hadn't cleaned the filters enough after only 3 months of light use and that I needed to replace them. there were no physical problems with the vacuum itself, and therefore their assessment wasn't covered by the Bosch warranty. Having replaced the filters, the machine just alarms every two minutes and turns off. This is the worst vacuum i've ever owned, and I regret having been talked into purchasing the vacuum at Harvey Norman, having originally requested a Dyson model. Massive regret, useless customer service. The only compensation would be a complete refund, but given the multiple similar reviews from other customers, Bosch is obviously disinterested in taking responsibility for their faulty product. What a joke.

Total rubbish
This vacum only works for 3 months, because the many filters block up. Now it needs the filters cleaned every week and the vacum still shuts down. I use it in a small apartment in thailand on hard floors. I am disappointed as this was an expensive mistake, I see even Bosch agree it's rubbish as they have discontinued this model. Time to retire it to the bin as I can't find replacement filters. I was a great fan of bosch.

Great vacuum cleaner
Does the job very well. Easy to use and no loss of suction after two years. We have three dogs two cats and young children so a tall order for any vacuum. we haven't had the same problems as others with the sensor coming on its only happened when the machine is full or some thing has blocked the machine. Hopefully it continues to work well.

Secret filter that needs cleaning
Had a lot of problems with the Red light coming on, cleaned all the filters as shown in the instruction manual and this did not help. There is another filter and this was blocked causing the fault. There are two filters on the side, one is the conical one accessed by the round cap- on the other side there is another hidden behind a plastic cover which is not labelled!! Two little plastic clips at the top hold it in place.

Since day 1 of owning this vacuum cleaner I have had so many incidences of the Sensor light coming on, it is so frustrating checking filters about 3 times every time I clean, when I know I have cleaned it out every time after using it only once!
It has powerful suction, which is useless if you can't use it .
I have done cleaning work for over 30 yrs and have never had to complain, yes some have had problems, but nothing like this one . Very unhappy

Same problems as everyone else
If only these reviews were available before purchasing it. The vacuum cleaner came highly recommended from Harvey Norman. It worked very well initially but now I have the same problems as everyone else. Constantly cleaning filters and loss of suction. Very disappointing as it wasn't the cheapest (nor was it the dearest).

Worst ever-DO NOT BUY ONE
This would be the worst vacuum ever. Went to Harvey Norman-Shepparton to purchase a new vac (had the Dyson for 15 years!! - and only replacing because they had stopped making replacement parts!!) had and electrolux in mind, was then talked/conned into the Bosch Runn'n, great in store, and yes, very quiet, but as previously noted by others, it takes me longer to clean ALL the filters etc (which we specifically asked about and were told only takes a minute a month-big bloody fibber) before EVERY use, really disappointed, would not recommend at all. And also, we have cats, and cleaning their hair from the carpet is useless!!! Also, we only have a small home, mostly hard floors, except the bedrooms.

Worst vacuum I ever bought
Quite simply unusable. I have to clean the vacume cleaner more than it cleans my small flat with only the stairs carpeted. The red light keeps coming on. Even after I have cleaned all the filters and emptied the dust. I am lucky if it stays running for 3 mins. Got my old Henry back up from the cellar. Not fit for purpose

Crap!
Biggest waste of money ever. Got talked into it by Harvey Norman in Victoria. I cannot even get through my house without it red lighting for no reason. Even one room it struggles. Clogs up straight away. Useless machine. Has been back 3 times with no resolution, will NEVER buy Bosch again, we are Very disappointed.

I purchased this vacuum cleaner in 2014 and also paid extra for the 60 month product care. The vacuum was excellent for the first few months until (like everyone else) the sensor lights came on. I took the product back to Harvey Norman last week in order to get a repair / refund however the store manager bullied me / raised his voice and advised that I would not get anything as I had abused the product. He claimed I lived in a very dirty house and it's my fault the vacuum won't work. I live in a brand new house - the only reason my house is dirty is because I have a very expensive vacuum that doesn't work!!! After reading the reviews here it seems I am not alone in this kind of response. What is the point of paying for product care if they refuse to even acknowledge a problem exists. Anyway, I've lodged a complaint to Fair Trading to see if I can get a refund on this terrible product. If anyone reads this review - do not purchase this vacuum. So far so good
Suction is fantastic, the flow control is a handy option going from carpet to rugs to hard floors. Nice and quiet compared to our old dyson, easy enough to maneuver around the house though not as smoothly as the dyson. The filters trap alot of dirt and dust which is great, sure its a bit of extra maintenance but id rather that than the extra dist and dust remaining in our carpet. Have only just purchased the vac so im keen to see how it performs in a years time when most people seem to be finding problems with the machine and after sales support.

Two years of hell
The suction is very good. I can not use on my parquetry as it scratches. It is good to maneuver around. It is no wonder it was discontinued. I had to use my product care to get a new one. The red light would not go off then it would shut off. Bosch repairs did not fix it. I don't use the new one much as I am scared I would have the same problems.

Broke after 1.5yrs
As other reviews, was great at first,now shuts off after 1 Min of light vacuming for no apparent reason. We live in a small 2 unit apartment and so barely use a vacuum, usually just sweep. A lot of money for something we barely got to use and I thought ours only had 1 yr warranty so now too late to do anything about it

BOSCH BGS4SILAU CANNOT HANDLE HAIR
I decided to follow through with this review after I spoke to Bosh regarding my genuine problem. After purchasing this vacuum cleaner I raved about its quiet disposition and the incredible suction. It took up dust like you would not believe. However after the end of the first vacuum I noticed the automatic sensor went on and reduced its power dramatically... indicating the filter had to be cleaned. upon opening the main filter (one of 3 mind you) which is a cone I noticed that there was hair wrapped entirely around it. stack of dust that found its way in there due to the hair blockage. I removed it and hoped this would not happen too often. Short version is I had to do this every single time and sometimes halfway through a vacuum session. So now I am cleaning the cleaner?? TWICE in one vacuum. I called Bosch and they suggested using the turbo brush with the bristles to pick up the hair. After doing this it I didn't have to clean it from the filter as much but then had to clean the hair off the brush which was a tangled mess. I had to cut the hair off with scissors...TOO HARD, TOO MESSY AND DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF VACUUMING. We have 3 girls in our place all with long hair that will drop occasionally (girls will get this) Basically Bosch did not care about my problem and so I am left stuck with this vacuum cleaner that I don't want to use. Thanks Bosch!!.... think you need to take this one back to the drawing board as it obviously has a design fault. Frustrated customerasked
I have the same problem as everyone else, the sensor light comes after a few minutes vacuuming and I am sick of wasting my time . The filters are clean. So many complaints about this, why hasn't Bosche addressed the issue on this site. I do not have time to spend waiting on a phone line which will obviously be very busy if everyone with this problem is ringing you. Has anyone contacted the department of fair trading about this issue?
