Not up to its ancestry
My Breville 800 series machine broke down this morning, catastrophic pump failure, it was well over twelve years old and gave sterling service each and every morning during that time .
The GoodGuys sold me its replacement for $349, great I thought, the old one was so good I expected the same from this new model, it looked almost identical .
Looks are obviously deceptive, the coffee tasted frightful despite playing around with grind size, filter cups and infusion time . Bitter, burnt coffee from previously sweet and aromatic grinds . S...Read more
team facility gave smooth and dense milk but at the cost of huge clouds of vapour on turning off and horrendous noises akin to nuclear reactor failure, guaranteed to wake the entire household early in the morning . The built in tamper is useless, steam condensates on its tamping surface causing the grounds to stick and come out of the filter insert with it, really messy . The silly ' razor ' supposedly for ensuring there is the exact amount of coffee in the inset is just a waste of resources destined to lie unused at the bottom of the odds and ends drawer. Despite the filter inserts being a tight fit into the infuser handle they remain in the machine, very difficult to remove and this results in grounds spilling everywhere. A great shame really, so disappointed with it I returned it to the store for a full refund . The Good guys really are good guys when it comes to customer satisfaction . I now have no coffee machine, Breville has always been my preferred small appliance brand and will continue to be so, just not for coffee machines .

Not as good a past machines
This unit replaced my old Breville 800 Class Espresso which I owned without any problem for about 6 years till it finally broke down took it in for repairs was told not viable so of to buy another Breville.
Well, this Duo Temp pro cant hold a mirror to my old one, while it works ok the coffee creme is no way near as good nor the flavor close, so disappointed.
Will be selling it off I think.

Can’t live without
The Brevile coffee machine is what starts my day. It is super easy to use. The coffee tastes better than any coffee shop. You do not have to be a barista to use it, and cleaning is a breeze. If you are thinking of purchasing a coffee machine this is the one to get.

makes a great cuppa and silky milk
cannot fault, Only way you get a bad coffee is if you dont run water through the coffee terminal before using each time, frother makes silky milk easy to clean and compact. If you know how to use a coffee machine properly you can't go wrong every time!

Great value machine
This was a downgrade for me since moving away from a housemate that had the next model up so I do miss the built-in grinder and slightly sturdier feel, but this machine nonetheless makes very good coffee and is easy to use. It doesn't take up too much bench space and is very intuitive.

If you know your coffee and know how to make coffee -this is the perfect machine!
This machine is basic, yet powerful and ideal for the person who knows their way around a manual coffee machine.
There is nothing complicated, just need to know your grinds and measurements. It is not as simple as a capsule machine, but not much more complicated.
Very easy to clean
Pumps out quality coffee all the time
Very impressed with this product,
Ideal for a espresso drinker

Good coffees with a little practice
Making a good coffee with this machine needs some practice, however the machine is easy to use and easy to clean. All the parts are good quality and machine has very low maintenance costs. Overally I'm happy with it and am using it everyday in the mornings if I have time to make coffee. It takes me about 8 minutes to prepare the coffee.

Simple and easy to use
Coffee as always tastes amazing, but more than anything the machine is easy to take apart and clean. Compared to my previously purchased coffee machine which was very loud when making the coffee, this one is quieter, so its a very successful purchase. Considering the price, it seems very affordable for its quality.

Great Coffee Everytime
For the price, this is a great coffee machine. I had to replace my old coffee machine and the assistance I had from Breville customer service was excellent. They suggested the Duo Temp would be best suited for my needs and they were right. Easy to use, looks good, and to top it off, makes great lattes every time. Very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this machine.

A great first machine
Its easy to clean and use with its straightforward design and the coffee always tastes great! Also as a plus it isn't too noisy!! I have never owned a coffee machine like this before and I wish I had bought one sooner. I am quite happy with my cafe quality coffee machine!

Perfect first machine
Ive owned this machine for just over a year now and I can't really fault it. It is the first espresso machine I've ever had and has been a perfect introduction to cafe quality homemade coffee. After a bit of practice it makes a perfect brew everytime. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive machines, but it is simple and easy to use and has only what it needs to make an amazing coffee. Before long it will be your own coffee that will be your standard to compare all others against, and it won't be often you taste another as good. If you're looking for a budget first machine you can't really go wrong.

Breville customer service awful
We love a good coffee and since we live next to a cafe it's pretty hard not to buy a take away so to stop this is we thought we'd upgrade our machine. We have been using a little sunbeam which was fine but the milk frother on it didn't seem to get hot enough. I purchased this from Harvey Norman for $350 which is a mid priced machine. The problem is that the insert in the group head constantly falls out when it is taken off the machine to empty. Super dangerous when it gets stuck on the part that the hot water flows out from. We also bought a ba...Read more
ng bang to put our coffee grinds into. It also falls out when we use this. The breville team agreed to send me a steel ring to insert in the head which has not made the slightest bit of difference. The head has just became blocked even after washing after ever use. We buy boutique beans so the coffee has been good but the milk frother average. Wouldn't buy again.Similar opinion? A very nice coffee
I'm no coffee expert but I really like the latte I make with this machine, It's easy to clean, not too noisy, easy to use so I'm quite happy. I also purchased the matching grinder to go with. A slight pain to find the filters but I rang breville and they organised over the phone to post them out to me which was quick so I'm happy

Easy to use
I got this Cofee machine as a gift from a friend. It's easy to use and easy to clean. However it takes time to prepare the coffee in the mornings with all the steps of making the coffee and preparing the milk. I prefer having my coffee ready within 5 minutes of waking up so the capsule ones work better for me.
Coffee tastes good with a little practice on preparing the milk properly. I use it during weekends and never had a problem with it so far.

Fire Hazard - pump does not turn off
Within 7 months of purchase, using once a day, the machine failed. Likely the switch. The pump continued to run if machine switched on or off. Had to unplug it. Failure is one thing. A fire risk and Breville refusing to take responsibility is another. Video of fault at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEPLsRw46nk
They didn't find a fault when they tested the machine, and refused to look at the video or let me know they the fault as it happened via facetime or skype. They sent a LAWYER to the consumer tribunal (NCAT) who was not able to ne...Read more

Good machine
A good little coffee machine that makes a lovely cup of coffee. It seems to use less coffee than my old machine (Lumina, Aldi). Cleaning the drip trays is a bit of a pain, and the milk frother is messy. A nice compact design, fits well in my small kitchen.

Love this machine
Received this as a housewarming gift! We love it. So easy to use, only thing is I wish it came with a bigger steam jug. Otherwise great user friendly machine which is easy to clean, it would be more convenient if you could use the steam wand at the same time as when the coffee is pouring

Good coffee machine
This is a good little coffee machine if you plan on not over using it. You have to measure your own coffee as it will keep pouring it. It makes amazing milk (was the best part about this machine) the taste of coffee varied with the brand but it was still lovely. It's hard to clean and ended up blowing up after 5 years of use. I did make anything from 5-10 coffees a day as I have a big family and it's not meant for that many coffees so I suggest making 3 max
I purchased another one 6 months ago but gifted it to my mum

My duo temp pro makes luke warm espresso....how can I make it hotter?

Hi there. A problem others have mentioned above, but with no answer that I can see... the water stops pumping through the coffee at anywhere from 20 to 30 seconds. I thought this was a manual machine? It's not such a problem making a single shot - that's roughly the time required. But for a double, it should pour for longer right? Why is the auto cut-off?

Hi
I have not experienced this problem at all !
Machine is completely manual, I make sure out of habit that I fill the tank every time I turn on the machine !
I make up to 6 cups a day and multiple cups all the time for no issues at all.
This is a very capable machine in my opinion.
I must add that I use the whole (double) shot for a single cup as I like a strong cup. I do not put 2 cups under filter at once!

What beans do you use

We've tried Bean'd, Illy, Industrie, Republica Coffee and Aldi's Lazzio brand. Bean'd has probably given us the best results.
