I just used a pod and got an Espresso shot into a glass, add ice cubes and filled with cold milk. Done.

Well with the incredibly sub par temp that it brews coffee, it shouldn't be more than a few minutes wait.

I had this happen and it seems the machine picks up even a slight blockage in one of the four holes at the stream wand tip. Use the pin under the water tank and clean the four holes then take the tip off (instructions are in the maintenance menu) and use a toothpick to gently clean the holes from the inside of the tip. Don't stick the tooth pick into the holes otherwise you risk making the holes bigger. Working like a charm now.

My Creatista seems to make my milk "watery" -- and I use Half and Half. Didn't have that problem with Nespresso Pixie + Breville Milk Cafe, but wanted a real "steamed/expanded" milk rather than "frothed". I readjusted the pours (they were all too long) fiddled around with milk froth/temp, etc but it's like drinking a weak coffee with skim milk and barely any texture or body. Anybody else have this problem? Any tips/hints? Thanks!

Same problem. Tried all sorts of milks, full cream, skinny, long life and not, almond, all brands of soy. Have never gotten that Cafe quality creamy milk, nor been able to make art as the milk is watery then has air bubbled froth plop on top. Was hoping I was doing it wrong but I don't think that's the case anymore.

We love our Breville Creatista Ma Machine. However, the Maintenance screen came up today and I followed the instructions to do a complete maintenance but at end, screen didn't go away. Did a second complete cleaning and still get the screen. What do I do to get the machine back to running so I can make coffee? Thanks

Hi I have never had this problem (fingers crossed) Have you tried looking at your troubleshooting in your manual? if not I would phone Nespresso Club on 1800623033 they are really helpful. Good Luck

Usually on the Creatista plus, the end menu is purge the steam wand. Go through to the end. If not, exit the menu by selecting the curly arrow and do the manual purge.

I own the Creatista Plus and I can't fault this machine. I believe the Plus as more settings than the standard Creatista so this could be the problem or you simply have a faulty maching. Cheers CC

Same problem here. Ive got one Creatista in our office an another Creatista at home. Both produce espressi with just 60 degrees coming out of the machine. Very disappointing. Both machine are send to service.

Plus machine goes hotter than the normal Creatista. No issues on my Creatista Plus and it's too hot even on the first Hot setting. It goes up another two levels.

Does anyone find the pod insertion on the Creatista plus fiddly? Mine doesn’t seem to line up and after pushing it in far enough to line up it falls straight through. Just got the machine and never had a pod machine so to be honest I’m probably doing something wrong

Think you might be trying too hard to put it in perfectly. I (almost literally) "throw" it in the opening and pull down the handle. Never had it fall straight through. It just "drops" into place. Assume you are using genuine Nespresso capsules?

Julie G
Julie G

Yep, just drop the pod in and shut the lid. Don't push the pod into place or it will just fall through.

Thanks for the replies, I’ve since become less precise and just drop the pod in, hasn’t failed me again. Loving the hassle free coffee experience.
Found a place that accepts used pods for recycling so I’m feeling better on that front too.

The Cup Volume setting has 5 different settings. What are each in milliliters? I have presumed that the 1st is a ristretto draw, the 2nd is the normal espresso draw, the 3rd is a bigger draw for the espresso setting, the 4th is the normal lungo setting, and the 5th is a bigger draw for the lungo setting. Even if this is correct, I have no idea what the milliliters of draw produced by each setting is. What is it?

Mandyc81
Mandyc81

The five ‘stages’ are not ristretto, espresso, lungo etc. I used a measuring cup and jug and did pours just with water. What I found was that on the ristretto option, the middle line (looks like half a cup) was 25 mL. If I turned it up to the next notch (4 parts of a cup picture) it went to 35mL, if I turned I down (2 parts of a cup picture) it went to 20mL. On the espresso setting, the middle line was 50ml (the manual says it’s supposed to be 40 but it wasn’t) and on lungo the middle line was 120mL. Cappuccino, flat white, and latte macchiato middle lines were all 50 ml. I would recommend getting your own measuring cup and playing with water draws (no capsule inserted) and adjusting the settings on each different type to see what you’re getting.

Does anyone know how to change the temperature of the coffee on the machine? I like espresso and we have the exact same Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus machine at work. The one at work has the perfect espresso temperature where my one at home is luke warm at best! Both are around 3 months old!

Maybe try to warm up your cup first? Then run a couple shots without capsule.

Anyone having issues with the steamer? Mine still steams but its not producing producing a creamy milk. I notice that it used to make a pulse pumping sounds then a second later a high pitched faster motor sounds when it makes the milk before reverting back to the pump only, but now it just makes the pump sound. I've sent it off to be looked at but its still not working right.

My one had same issue, it was due to steam tip partially blocked by milk residue. They told me to clean steam tip by the cleaning tool. Need to make sure the tip is clean.

My Nespresso Creatista has been great. A few days ago it the maintenance light flashed. I did the full descaling process and cleaned the wand by the process on the menu. The pressure and quality if great but the flashing maintenance light won't go off. The good news is that the machine still makes coffee and steams milk, but until I fix this I will not know when it is time to do maintenance again.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Complete the clean steam wand cycle as you may not have finished it properly, we don't have flashing lights only messages on telling us to clean or descale etc and you must complete to the end and the lights go out. If this doesn't help you could follow the manual to take back to factory default, instructions online or in your manual or alternately ring Nespresso themselves they have always been very helpful with our previous machines

From Nespresso online or you can get compatible pods from major supermarkets from brands such as Lavazza etc so lots of options just depends on your taste.

You can also get the Nespresso pods from their boutique stores. You need to look the locations up on the Nespresso website.

I drink my coffee black and it comes out of the Creatista Plus at what I think is a good temperature - I have to sip it to drink it as it is too hot to drink straight down. Why not ring Nespresso for help - I have found them extremely helpful.

Hallelujah, someone else with same problem. I am currently in HUGE battle with Nespresso because my Creatista Plus machine dispenses luke warm coffee (3 months old and faulty from the start) and they tell me there Is nothing wrong with it.!!!Coffee temp measuring at 60C and their rep telling me it should be at 90-91C!!!!!! yep, 3 months old, you have to pack it up yourself, take half day off work, cancel a doctors appointment while you wait in for a promised courier that never arrives. I am experiencing the absolute worst, most disgraceful, appalling, pathetic of customer service. Lies, can never speak with same rep, twice, no one will give a direct phone number so you can talk to same person, no one knows who you spoke with last, hours of wasted time, false promises. This saga is too long and involved to relate here but I will not stop until I get some justice. my family just want the Aldi coffee machine back. Seriously, The only thing worse than the machine itself is the complete and utter disregard by the Nespresso company for me as a customer. I am a reasonable, patient and understanding person, but I am so very angry with how I have been treated by Nespresso.

I have the same problem and despite its excellent milk frothing capabilities have regretfully decided to return it. Breville seems to have got too caught up with the technology of frothing milk perfectly and forgotten that the well frothed milk is useless without a well pulled espresso shot. The coffee comes out at a temperature that is much too low to fully extract the full coffee flavour from the pod. The result a thin and bittery brew. My old and dated Essenza machine still does a better job. The latest DeLonghi machines are way ahead of the Creatista in brewing quality. Unfortunately they are very weak in milk frothing.

I am very disappointed that i have had to return my Creatista Plus. But the most important part of an espresso machine has to be the coffee not the milk. I had great faith in Breville's technology and design and feel let down. Maybe they will get it right in the future.

I drink black coffee - the rest of the family drink milk based. Does the black coffee come out HOT? I see the milk temperature can be adjusted but I don't see if that is possible with the coffee itself. Our current nespresso produces warm black coffee at best.

Hi Merian,
The coffee temperature is definitely not adjustable, only the volume of water per shot is. I have no complaints about the coffee temperature as it's always nice and hot. I always preheat my cup just to be sure.
They had a demonstrator unit making cups at Myers when I bought mine. Maybe call your nearest store and ask if the have a unit they can use to make you a cup so you can try for yourself?

Phil K
Phil K

You can make it as hot as you like via the menu on th machine

Debwil89

Hi Merian check out my contribution to Patsy's post. I returned to Harvey Norman where I bought my Creatista to try a cup from their demo. machine. Spat it out it was that hot. Brilliant! Convinced me my machine was faulty but Nespresso telling me that it's not!!!! NOt happy. No one wants to drink luke warm black coffee, have to put every cup in microwave. Not happy. And definitely, you can not adjust the water temp., only the milk temp. even though the Nespresso reps (who have limited product knowledge) tried to convince me otherwise.
