Hi, Is this model better than the Breville Q (not super Q)? Can it do more things than the Q? For example, I can't see that the Q can do frozen desserts
Thanks

My Boss Blender BBL910 is nearly 4 years old and has performed really well. Lately, however, it has developed a brown coating around the base where it connects to the jug and there is a kind of greasey/burnt smell sometimes. It still seems to perform well. Is there a problem I should address? Does it need grease? or what is going on here?

BBL910 my blender has stopped working today. Bought this awhile ago (3 or 4 years ago). Just wondering what's the warranty on this product?

the Boss BBL915BSS (Stainless Steel)

The black rubber (or plastic) base which the glass jug goes onto has started breaking down, with the result that the jar is not firm on the base and if under pressure (e.g. making almond milk so on mill) the jar starts to jump up and down and can then not be properly connected to metal connection. I'm never far away and can hear the difference in sound so I quickly attend to the problem, but it now means I have to stand there holding the jar down whilst the job is done (wearing ear defenders because The Boss is not quiet :-) ). Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, did you find a remedy.

Thanks, Jan D

I love my blender, but it has begun to leak from the bottom of the jug. What should I do?

Given the blender comes with a 7 year warranty it should be covered for free replacement. Give Breville call on their support line - it can be found in the operating instructions book.

Hi, does this blender blend dates used for energy/bliss balls?

1 answer

It depends how hard they are, soft medjool dates blend up fine, though I chop them a little first. For hard dates I always soak them in warm water first (with any water left in the kettle) for 5-10 mins while I prepare other ingredients and chop them a couple of tmes. That works well.

I wouldn't recommend it, I don't think it is designed to do that.

Hi Maz - the test kitchen has advised against grinding a raw chicken carcass in the BBL910 as this may put unnecessary strain on the motor. Thanks, the Breville team

the Boss BBL915

I've recently purchased the boss but am finding it's not blending very well. So far I've tried smoothies, gelato and nut butter - the blades are spinning but it's not blending so what I'm getting is half blended, half frozen food?? So I'm having to pick out the unblended bits. Help needed please!

You probably need more liquid. I always use at least 1/2 cup of water or milk for smoothies. Also use the tamper provided to push food onto the blades, or the spatula. I've blended lots of frozen fruit smoothies without any problem.

Stelar
Stelar

Thanks Tam - I've been using coconut water or cococonut milk and also using the tamper and still comes out with lumps/chunks. I've been following the recipes in the book that comes with the blender so wouldn't have thought I'd need to add any extra liquid.

I do find that if I am making frozen desserts it certainly takes longer than just pressing the Frozen Dessert button once. I usually have to do it a few times. Only time I have had problems with smoothies is when I use frozen ingredients and not enough liquid.

the Boss BBL915BKS (Black Sesame)

Hi, I just purchased BBL910BKS FOUR DAYS AGO from the good guys, and started to make smoothies and soups, today I notice while making the soup, the liquid is spilling out of inner lid. I waited till the soup function finished, half of the soup on my bench top. I cleaned up everything and put the jar in autoclean mode with liquid soap, as soon as the liquid hit the lid, everything starts to pour. Need help please?

I haven't yet tried the soup function. Maybe you had it too full? If you made the soup before pouring it in the blender it needs to be cooler than boiling. I had the same first time I used auto clean - too much dishwasher liquid! It literally needs only a drop of detergent and water filled to .5 (between .4 and .6) then it's fine.

I made tomato soup (from the recipe book that was supplied with the blender) and I did not have any liquid spill through the lid. Make sure you don't overfill, or use very hot liquid (the instructions advise how hot it can be). Also make sure the inner lid is clicked into place properly. If it happens again take it back to the store and get a replacement. I've had no issues with mine. Good luck!

Breville

Hi Sarvari - if you still have the receipt please take the unit back to the store for a replacement – its either the inner lip or an issue with the jug not sealing so best to swap it over if only recently purchased. Thanks, the Breville team

I'm considering the Breville "The boss to go plus." Looks like it's good for smoothies but can it also do pesto?

Hi, I think you've asked the question in the wrong product space. This is for the big bad Boss blender. The little Boss is a different product. If you can afford the big one, do it. It's ridiculously good. I'm assuming the small one will kick too. Pesto really isn't that hard to make, I don't see why not.

Breville

Hi Cris, The Boss To Go Plus can do pesto (in smaller quantities than its big brother). It's a little powerhouse! for more information on the product go to www.breville.com.au

the Boss BBL915

Is the base plastic coated like the cheaper $199 model, or is it metal coated like the $299 model? I have the $299 model that looks fantastic--the best of the Breville blenders aesthetically. BUT the metal is peeling off and I am having to send the unit back to Breville. I had the same issue with the stainless steel trim on the jug a few months ago. I asked Breville if they would upgrade to this model and allow me to pay the difference. They initially said no, and are getting back to me. Now after reading some reviews for The Boss, I'm wondering if I should stick it out with the $299 model. I don't want a plastic-y looking appliance on my countertop.

I don't think it is metal - it seems to be a type of plastic but it looks pretty good to me - not plastic-y at all.Just looking at the base it appears to be metal, but I tried a magnet on it as well as tapping it - pretty sure it is plastic . We have used our unit a lot since the review and we are still impressed with it.
There are no marks or signs of wear on the coating of the base, so it seems to be fairly resistant to casual knocks and so on and it is somewhat scratch resistant and slippery when scratching with my fingernail.
The unit itself is quite heavy, much heavier than other blenders we have had, so there must be a lot of metal in it, perhaps it has a plastic type of coating? The jug part is a BPA free impact plastic the same as the model you have I believe just a bit larger.
Hope this helps

I'm not too sure now, the jug sat on a very heavy duty rubbery part. It looked good but I had problems with the rubber coming off in small curly bits and then it was leaking anyway. I ended up just buying a Kenwood blender for 399 instead which I really like. I just make the soup in a saucepan and then blend it!!

Naomi S.Breville

Hi Timtriolo, The base of the Boss is made from heavy duty die-cast metal. It is then has a coating over to the top to protect and give the machine a premium finish. With all of our kitchen appliances we would suggest when cleaning, to simply use a mild detergent, warm water and a non scratch cloth to clean. Hope this helps you. Kind regards, The Breville Team
