Not worth it
I chose the 'ultimate' cover as it states it covers up to $20,000 annually, along with the added routine care package, and pay $80.00/month. Unfortunately this insurance doesn't cover as much as they state, it only covers $250.00/year (including de-sexing, as they gave no money back for that). Whenever i ask why claims I made had a nil benefit they say it's exceeded the limit of coverage. I'm not sure what I'm paying $80.00/month for if it's not covering parts of my vet bills, especially if it didn't cover the de-sexing operation at all. I'll be shopping around for another pet insurance provider, if this is all you get from their 'ultimate'/best package, but until then I'm stuck with them.

Pathetic
Worst pet insurance ever paid for ultimate cove and my pet had an accident and had to be rusjed to the vet. Later on we were told that he wasn't covered for accident even though it stated in his policy it was. Stay away from Bupa pet insurance.

Absolute rip off
I had to give one star rating because there are no 0 star rating. Incredibly disappointed in this product. I made a claim for my dog who had what appeared to be an allergic reaction. Took her to the vet on a fine Sunday morning and thought no worries you have pet insurance. $190 plus dollars later my dog was on the road to recovery and I made my claim. I did it submit case notes from the vet and was then informed that it would take a month for any results of their decaying to pay. Today I got the good news! Despite having the top cover f...Read more
or my pets I would not be given a refund because it would exceed my yearly entitlement for my policy. Needless to say I cancelled today. Total rip off. I will also be reviewing my own Bupa health insurance and after over 20 years with them will most likely leave.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The worst customer service
I have Bupa health insurance and pet insurance for Many years. The customer service you receive from Bupa health is fantastic and the cover they provide is excellent but Bupa Pet Insurance is the complete opposite. Bupa should be ashamed of the customer service Bupa pet (pet sure) staff provide. I wish I insured else where for pet insurance. I would not recommend Bupa Pet Insurance.

Waste of money not worth it - customer service treats you like a criminal
With the $200 excess per condition and other ways this insurance is really not worthwile. 90% of my claims resulted in nil benefits. Currently I have a claim for my second dog pending for over a month because he is healthy and they don't believe us that he didn't need to see a vet during certain time periods. Doing everything they can to stall and get us to go away instead of paying us. The tone of the emails we receive from is accusatory, as if we are trying to scam them when it is in fact us that appear to have been scammed by them. Being sent the same questions over and over again, our vet has sent documents to them 3 times and they "haven't been received". It is an absolute nightmare to deal with this company.

Unexpected
We had to claim a large expense for our dog and were happily surprised to receive a larger than expected refund . It has been worth having bupa pet insurance !! Our policy is certainly good value

Ordinary - but they all are
They were generally polite and helpful when I had contact with them (never made a claim), however, price increases every year, which you expect, but then just recently they increased the premium by 25%!!!
That is just gouging, in my opinion, so I cancelled my policy and decided I will take responsibility for my dog and keep them all out of the picture.

Disappointing - Pet Insurance Customer Service
I have been a member with Bupa Health for years and also have my car insurance with them so I obviously looked at Bupa Pet Insurance when we got our puppy.
Went online and got a quote which I thought was reasonable as we got the highest cover of $20,000 and was $90 a month. We made a claim in the first year and although you had to pay upfront and we did need to ring Bupa once to ask about our refund all was okay.
Bupa automatically renewed our policy in July and our repayments jumped to $110 a month, I went online and tried to get a new quot...Read more
e to see if it would be the same as what they bumped me up to and to my surprise I could get the exact policy for $80 a month so I called Bupa and explained that I could get the same policy $30 a month cheaper than what I currently paid to which I was told this is for new customers and their policies will go up after a year, I asked do Bupa not look after customers which have been with them for multiple years and explained I had my health and car insurance with Bupa to. I was told there is nothing they can do apart from lower the covered amount to $12,000 to make it cheaper. I asked if I am able to cancel my policy which I was advised I can cancel at any time so I said I will look in to a new insurance company and call them back to cancel. In the meantime I had also submitted a claim for my dogs 1 year vaccination which Bupa paid us back $80. Last month I called Bupa to ask if I could lower the covered amount to $12,000 to which I was now advised I cant because I have made a claim and have to keep that cover for the year, I asked to then cancel my cover and was told again I cant because I made a claim and if I want to cancel I need to pay the complete years amount. I explained I wasn't advised this previously and was told that's the way it is. The man was very rude and clearly didn't care. I will be leaving Bupa as soon as the next year is out and already moved my car insurance and looking at new insurance providers for my health care. I would not recommend Bupa Pet Insurance at all!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Takes the pain out of claims
I have been with Bupa for 3 years. This is the first time I had to make a claim and it was a big one, with my doggo / fur kid / best fur friend recently diagnosed with melanoma, going through 2 surgeries, ultrasound, X-Ray, blood & lymph tests, CT scan and immunotherapy treatment within a matter of a few weeks. The claim process was smooth and fast, with both the vet (not fully automated) and the hospital (fully automated), receiving payment in my account within days. They have delivered what they promised - taking into account excess, annual c...Read more
onsultation quota and non-claimables, they met the 80% benefit. It really is a relief that I don't have to worry about the financial burden, whether and when bills will be paid, and can focus my energy on my girl.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fabulous and thank goodness for my insurance
Claimed for my Cocker Spaniel surgery and some consultations. After my vet released the notes the payment for the claim as smooth and effortless. I submitted everything online and when I called them the operator was very knowledgeable and helpful.

No time waiting
I made a claim for my Great Dane online. I attached my receipts from the vet and vet notes for his condition. Was very simple to do. Within a matter of days I had the money that I was entitled to reimbursed to my bank account. The last claim I made through a specialist in Sydney a year or so ago was exactly the same. I am very happy with Bupa and I think their yearly rates are very good also.

Pet insurance
I have had a few health issues with my fur baby recently and had to pay a large amount for her care. Bupa pet insurance was very quick in regards to paying me back 80 percent of the total amount back into my account. Making a claim is so easy to do online yourself through the Bupa web site. I highly recommended Bupa for your pet insurance.

Glad we had insurance for this year
We had quite a few issues the past year with our Beaglier. First a Ruptured ear drum, then removing a lump and lots of follow up appointments at our local vet as well as at Sydney Uni Vet Hospital. Our dog was well looked after each time but it was an expensive year for her. It worked out well for us this year, and having the insurance left us ahead $500 (as opposed to if we didn't have the insurance this past year).
Lots of paperwork to lodge, but once it's all done BUPA paid us very quickly.

Pleased with the service but the process was a bit daunting. The policy said he was covered but this didn't happen easily. A lot of paper work done by my vet. Why is claiming for pets not as easy as claiming for oneself?

Good policy that is expensive and paperwork heavy
Each claim requires paperwork completed by the vet. Should be easier for us and vet. Would like more paid back to us. I've been with them for 4 years and premium has increased. Phone support is offshore anr the staff werent familiar with basic pet anatomy.

Disappointing. The claim covered less than 75% of the surgery. My pet recovered before they paid out the claim.
My pet underwent major surgery and I submitted a claim as soon as she was discharged.
I was soon asked for a list of veterinary practices the pet had visited to which I complied.
I also, on my own, contacted the vets and obtained my own copy of my pet's medical records and submitted them to Bupa.
I didn't hear anything until a month later, they sent me a new email asking the same question.
I told them they already had it and sent it all through again.
A month later I called them asking why they hadn't processed my claim, they said, no joke, tha...Read more

Best Pet Insurances
This insurance is good value for our valuable pets but most of all it’s a sensible policy. Responsible pet owners are listened to and assisted so that their pets can be given the best care because animal care is so expensive. Communication is great, claims are quick and reasonable. After horrific experiences with other companies in the past I will always use BUPA.

Cannot emphasise the value of pet insurance enough
I changed to Bupa three years ago because the previous insurer made claiming very difficult and had very narrow parameters within which to claim. My dog just snuck in as a nearly nine yo at the time I changed. After being a very healthy, fit dog all his life, he suddenly started having major health issues with mini strokes and autoimmune disease. I have racked up about $20,000 worth of vet bills over the last two years, got about 80% back and yet my premium remains very affordable. Vets were at a loss about how to treat him and I could not have...Read more
forked out the money for expensive diagnostics and hospitalisation. Without insurance, I would have been facing the decision to put him down. Claims are easy and made through my vet so no messy paperwork, are resolved within a few days and usually in my favour. Obviously, given he's on lifetime medication, I've reached limits on some items and had claims denied, but $50 a month for those is not going to break the bank. I'd recommend Bupa because it gave me the ability to pursue a definitive diagnosis and subsequent treatment that is keeping my pup alive and happy. Two thumbs up for BupaSimilar opinion?
