When I descale my DeLonghi coffee machine, the descale water only comes out of the milk frothier (which we hardly ever use) and not the two coffee spouts. I am following all the descale instructions in the booklet and have watched the youtube videos and I'm doing all the right things! Please help.

Hi,
I had an automatic DeLongi Prima Donna for years but was never quite satisfied with the milk foam. I understand that DeLongi now has machines that have a Latte system that produces a thick lasting foam so I’m thinking of buying another automatic DeLongi machine.
So, two questions:
1) Does the latte system produce a foam that is like the foam you get when buying a cup of cappuccino coffee at a coffee shop? (To me the foam is almost as important as the coffee itself, and is in fact the reason I would be prepared to spend many hundreds of dollars on a machine, instead of just continuing to use a simple plunge coffee jug.)
2) All I wish to make is a good tasting Cappuccino coffee with a thick creamy foam, from an automatic machine as I’m lazy, so I don’t need any other extra bells and whistles. If a DeLongi person is reading this, then which of your automatic machines would you recommend?
Hoping someone can help,
Jen

I would suggest you look at the De Longhi website and find where there is a local demonstration of their machines. We found some at the local Good Guys and Harvey Norman stores, they were invaluable in determining the machine to buy.

Hi Jenifer,
Our Latte Crema system can definitely do thick cappuccino froth. We have a live demo service set up at the moment as due to the covid restrictions there are not as many stores doing demonstrations. If you wanted to book some time here is the link.

The Dinamica Plus ECAM 37095T is a perfect solution as it has the thermal carafe that can keep milk out of the fridge for a couple of hours. All of our milk carafes come with an easy cleaning system so that you dont get milk build up in the top of the carafe and it separate to the coffee brew.
THe good thing about dinamica plus is it has a colour screen and this makes it even easier to choose your favourite coffee recipe as you mentioned Cappuccino. Then you also have 3 settings on the milk carafe to change the level of froth you want.
Like all of our Fully auto machines they are easy to clean and the machine tells you when to empty the grounds container.

Also here is the link to the Dinamica Plus so you can see the machine.

Thank you

Hi,
We have a De Longhi Magnifica S coffee machine which we have had for approx 10 years and lately it has stopped frothing milk and also struggles to rinse hot water after. This seems to indicate that there may be a blockage. Is there somewhere where I can go to clear the blockage if this is the reason for the problem.
Also the tray keeps coming up with a message saying empty grounds container even though the container has only a few small grains. Perhaps the 2 problems are connected. Can you provide some suggestion as we love our cappuccinos and have had a great run with the machine. iF we cant sort the problem out we may need to replace it with a new de Longhi model.

Our machine has started throwing a fault code with the fill water icon on continuously and the icons on either side flashing. Happens interminably after pouring a shot or while using steamer. Does anyone know what this means?

I am looking at buying a Delonghi Magnifica s ECAM 22110SB some show filters in the water tank some don’t. Do these machines have to have a water filter or can they be used without a filter?

The unit has what is referred to as a "water softener filter", this is a consumable which the manual says should be changed every two months. It looks a bit similar to the water filter in our filter jug and the unit seems to function fine without it fitted. Since we already filter our water, we don't see the point of yet another bit of landfill and cost. I cannot say if it would have any impact on the warranty not using one.

DeLonghi
Cheryl B.DeLonghi

Hi,
All of our Fully Auto Machines will function without a water filter for exactly the reason of using pre filtered water. The option of using the filter is to enhance the taste of the coffee and soften the water in case of tap water being used specifically in very hard water regions.

I have completed a descale 3 times, 1 with the descaling liquid and 2 with water and the red light still won't go off. Please advise what I am doing wrong!

The customer service line should be able to talk you through the correct process and identify any problems.

Cheryl B.DeLonghi

Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for your question. For the descale process sometimes the light stays on because the process is broken if you have not filled the water to A and B with the descaler and then max during the rinse process. Its important to make sure you fill the tank to max and continue with the rinse. It will ask for 2 to 3 rinses and then it should go off. If you still cant get the light to go off definitely give our team a call 1800 126 659. Thank you

Why is there water under the trays of my Delonghi Magnifica S machine?
Also, why is there too much noise when frothing the milk?

water UNDER the trays? If you mean actually under the trays/machine, it could be that you're over-filling the water reservoir, used to happen with our old machine. Noise level is subjective.

Hi Cheryl,
What I was trying to ask is this - the Delonghi Magnifica S ECAM22110SB - is programmed. Can an old machine checked as for how long has been working, how many coffees it has made? I have one, love it, can't even remember when I bought it, but would love to know when I made my first & last coffee on it? Is there a test for that?

Mike
Mike

I don't know about the coffee count but I would doubt you can tell the other factors since it had no clock so no concept of time passage.

Hello again guys
i set my grinder to 3.5 but am not sure if its correct.. (leaving in Cyprus)
Also i noticed that when i made a strong coffee, aroma at the last quarter of the settings..
The coffee its coming out like drops and not continously...

And the last again when i make strong coffee, after i finish my coffee, for 5-10 seconds there is smoke (steam, am not sure) coming out from pre ground coffee hole...

Is that right? Or its something wrong??

1 answer

My unit came with a cautionary addendum to the manual saying that you could actually stop the press from operating if you have the aroma too high and use the double long coffee. I did it once and an error light came on with no water passing through, I suspect you are very close to the same point.

I would suggest you dial back a little (three o'clock position on mine) and use two short single shots, I find that produces a far more satisfying result even though it uses more coffee - a small price to pay!

Oh, and I strongly suspect it is steam from the hole, if it were smoke you'd likely have a burning plastic smell, it would be very unpleasant.

Hi Paul are you saying the machine won't program the volume you are trying to set?
Here is a how to video showing how to program
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKBXHwpHtRA

Also If it is stopping before it reaches the level you want it's just reaching the maximum level of water for that button. The 2 x buttons will let you program higher because it is for double.

Hey Giannis,
Generally in australia i find setting 2 or 3 is about right for most coffees. I also put the aroma on max this is what changes the dose.

Maybe see what your grinder is set on. Maybe it is the brand of coffee you are using.

Thanks, checked the grinder it’s set to #5

DeLonghi
Cheryl B.DeLonghi

Hey Silvia usually 3 is a better setting for most coffees and also check the temperature setting sometimes the wrong temperature can make coffee taste very sour or bitter. Perhaps use the highest or second highest temp setting to see if that makes it a better.
