No, but if your tap water is hard then I would use a filter, or perhaps a Brita filter jug

OK, many thanks. I will check the water hardness and decide. Cheers!

in the process of descaling, after 30 minutes the water is empty, then I clean the water tank and replace with clean water and the the steam light is on, I switched to "1" to continue the descaling process, however the water did not come out from the water pipe, it came out from the coffee dripping, is it right?

I only get a little water out of the coffee outlet at the very end, but perhaps they have changed the process since I bought mine

I’m yet to get a perfect coffee ? I have tried all the different settings but can’t seem to find the perfect one. Either too weak or too strong. Help!

Grind is really important. Try setting the grind to max, which will leave you with just the dial on the front to worry about. But I've said here before, it's not EVER going to give you a perfect coffee. Trade off for the convenience, but you should be able to get a good coffee

The coffee it produces. Same beans and grind, better taste for white or black coffee compared to any of the auto machines I have owned

Citric Acid powder. 4 years and maybe a dozen descales with no problems, plus on my previous unit that counted 11,000 cups of coffee it made my family, cleaned only with Citric Acid powder.

How hot is coffee one review said it’s only warm?

I've had no problem with the coffee temperature, but I always warm the cup (and the machine) by filling the cup with hot water from the hot water button. The manual has instructions on how to adjust the coffee temperature to make it hotter, but I've never had to do that.

Leigh Jensen
Leigh Jensen

Mine is the perfect temperature. If the coffee is too cool there is either a problem with the unit settings, the cup is cold and is cooling the coffee. I have found that adjusting the height of the spout makes a difference, as the coffee will cool a little on a cold day if it has 2 or 3 inches to fall before it gets into the cup, so I set it to allow just enough room for the cup to slide under. Three of my friends also have this unit and they all make coffee to the correct temperature without needing adjustment from the factory settings.

It didn't take that long for me... maybe you might have to take it apart again and put it back together again? The internal parts must click together correctly or it will flash. The internal part is inside where the water chamber slides out. Persist......! This is a great coffee machine!

Hi Sonya have you managed to get your machine working?
We have had ours for around a month now and yesterday the temp light started flashing and we can’t use our machine.
I’m now waiting on Delonghi for a response on Monday before going back to the store.

Turn the round dial in the centre of the machine to stronger? If not that, maybe usr a stronger coffee bean. I think the centre dial grinds the beans finer so you get less water coming through and a stronger taste.

Strongest coffee comes from the finest grinds the machine can pump through (dial inside the grinder -only adjust whilst grinder is grinding)

water tank light will not go off as it wont register that i filled tank, why is this?

That sounds like my problem with the descaling light, but I'm afraid I don't know anything about how to fix it. You could take it to the service team, who are very good, but that would mean being without the coffee maker while they look at it. If the light is on but the coffee maker still works it's probably not worth it.

Jess

Hi Alex its purely because you are not descaling it properly. You need to follow the instructions in the manual exactly. If you don't have the manual simply download it from the net. For me I live in Melbourne where the water is very clean and the hardness of the water is virtually zero so the descaling procedure is pointless. The descale is basically on a timer but doesnt actually know how dirty it really is so at the begining when I first purchased it I was descaling every time the light showed but now I don't worry about it.
If ur in Melb I wouldn't worry its quite a long process. I just do it every 2 months now. Hope that helps
As for the water tank light not too sure Jo

Mark

Jess, You told Alex that it is his fault because he is "not descaling it properly" without any evidence or other good reason to draw that conclusion. I don't know what Alex's situation is, but like him, I have not been able to get the de-scale light to go out on my DeLonghi Magnifica S machine despite having de-scaled the machine 4 times in a row now following "exactly" the instructions. Yet the light remains on. This happened also the first time I de-scaled the machine after purchasing it and the light finally went out after a number of repeat de-scales. Not so this time.

Whilst it is good of you to offer a suggestion that a possible cause may be not following the de-scaling instructions exactly, your certainty that it is "purely because you are not descaling it properly" is disrespectful and quite possibly wrong if Alex has already tried multiple times to ensure not miss-steps in the de-scaling process.

Meanwhile, if anyone can advise how to get the light to go out, I would be grateful - Alex may be also.

I purchased a MAGNIFICA S ECAM 22.110.SB early august this year, I really only use the expresso, but now once the shot comes out the water continues to flow to a full cup again. Is this an easy fix or does require a service? Regards, Kim

Hi Geoffrey,
I had this isssue a couple of times. Under the pannarello wand you will see a black and a green o ring. Over time they wear to a point so they don’t seal properly. Ring DeLonghi and they will send you a replacement or two and you will have it working properly again. They have always been very helpful to me.

Howdy all,
We have just purchased the Magnifica ESAM 04.110.B and still getting use to it.
My question is to do with the rinse cycle.
When turning the machine on it will go through it warming up etc. and does an automatic rinse cycle.
But when turning the machine off using the on/off button on the front, the rinse cycle will occur (per manual) but other times it does not occur.
(there is enough water in the container).
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hi Geoff,
I have found that if you don’t actually extract a coffee, then turn off the machine it will not complete a rinse cycle.

How is it possible that two same DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM22110 are making different quality of coffee? The coffee maker that makes better coffee is even 7 years older than the other one? Just had the same problem Betty. Fortunately we have extended warranty thru Harvey Norman. Machine is just out of manufacturers warranty. The product care warranty required us to send Bravo Repairs in Sydney..apparently they are the best and only specialise in coffee machine repairs. A pain being without the machine. .but they were really quick...we got it back 8 days after sending. They replaced the Assy Gearbox Valve, ecam22110 power board and
4 x Hose connector seals.Have just used it after getting it back. Seems to be working fine.
