The 'empty grounds' light on my Magnifica S comes on after only about 5 or 6 coffees. Is that normal?

Seems to be the case - mine does also. The grounds container is small so I guess it fills pretty quickly. I am now in the habit of emptying it when I have made 3 or 4 coffees & don't have any trouble with it lighting up

I have just purchased an ESAM04110B machine. One day ago. Yesterday friends turned up and I made coffees, steamed milk, then another coffee was ordered. I pushed coffee buttons to get it back to coffee from steam and they just flashed for a good ten minutes but didnt stop. In the end I had to turn the machine off, wait for even longer and then try again. Is this a problem with these machines? Once you've gone to steam you have to wait an eternity to go back and make another coffee? I had a Bosche for over 14 years and could switch between the two with no waiting.

Turn the steam button off and then open the steam valve until water runs out. Coffee is brewed at a lower temperature and as the machine only has one boiler you need to release residual heat to get back to brewing temperature

Great and easy to use however the taste of my coffee is very weak even on the strongest settings (grind setting and dial on the front has been changed a few tones but still the same) I am using beans from my local cafe so Im wondering if certain beans might yield better taste?

Unfortunately I am having same problem, done all the things you have tried - have tried several beans from my coffee shop & they keep suggesting different beans but so far not found the right ones. My ratio for a mug is-2 cups coffee button topped with milk & still not very strong. I think these machines are made for cups & not mugs as the coffee is just right for cups. Hope we work it out soon

Thanks Marli, yes I am doing the same with the 2 cups and with a little milk on top. I am still finding the coffee weak even if I have it black unfortunately. Have you tried the DeLonghi brand of beans yet? The main reason I bought this machine was to savour 3rd party beans from different cafes but now I am wondering if I should have just gone the pod route. Strength and flavour is the bottom line.

Its all about the bean !
Admittedly we are not getting that cafe syrup espresso but the slightly thinner version which I prefer . I have mine set to the hardest grind and I am very happy .
I have tried a lot of beans and find organic beans suit my taste and strength more .

Have just setup the DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM22110SB and filled water and followed the instructions:- fill water tank, insert water tank correctly, turn on, turn dial to left to prime the machine. It finishes making a pumping noise then I get flashing lights across the display as follows: coffee light flashing, water light on, triangle warning sign is flashing.
Attempted to prime again, as per instructions. No water comes out of the cappuccino wand. Does this sound like a faulty machine out of the box? Please help.

Have you inserted the water tank in as far as it will go - needs that extra push at the end until it clicks into place. I had the same thing but when I took it out & reinserted I actually broke the plastic lug which goes into the machine - ($99.00)for a new tank - worked out I didn't get the machine that cheap after all. If this does not work & you have followed all the instructions again take it back to where you purchased - has a 2 yr warranty.
Hope this helps

Thanks Marli for taking the time to help. Yes water filter in very secure. On the way now to the store to return for a refund!

Really unimpressed with the service call received from Delonghi this morning.
It appears that the flow monitor wires can not be crimped properly at factory which can throw the error.

To be honest spending $700 on my first automatic coffee machine with what I thought would be a good reliable brand with good phone customer service has left a bad taste in my mouth. To be told that I would need to get a service person to fix a brand new machine out of the box, and not be advised to get a replacement product is pathetic service!

Thanks for your time to help.

I found their customer service is not up to scratch either with my previous DeLonghi machine had a lot of problems with it but because it was out of warranty they did not seem to care. After several calls & 4 returns to the repairer eventually tossed it away & purchased this Magnifica S - think I should have gone to another brand - not as good as I thought costing a lot in beans to find the right strength for a decent mug. Hope you got your replacement machine

Hi Bob,

Please view the following video on how to set the temperature of your Magnifica S https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1oRT6BUrz8. Once you follow these steps the temperature setting will be saved for your next coffee.

In terms of making a hotter coffee using warmed coffee cups and room temperature milk can help increase the temperature. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to call our friendly team on 1800 126 659.

If it's still under warranty, I'd take it back. If not, have you taken the coffee press out and cleaned it as per the instruction book? It sounds strange, like it's not pushing the grinds up into the section where the water flows. I've never had that happen. Maybe check out the trouble shooting section of your manual, if you don't have it, you should be able to download it via internet. Otherwise, definitely contact DeLonghi. Hope this helps, good luck

Our Delonghi Magnifica S is now putting far too much coffee in on the espresso (1 cup) mode. We have tried everything and now have to press the button again to stop it from pouring. It was doing it perfectly yesterday and now it's not. Anyone have any idea what we can do? Thank you.

It has on the top a dial that goes from 1 to 12
Says turn to 2 and fit filter
Do I turn it to 4 in two mths then to 6 in a further two mths and so on till you reach 12
Meaning filter lasts 12 mths

I can’t say I’ve had that issue with mine. Perhaps it was the water line getting the air out before use again?

Hi
Just tried mine didn’t make a noise
Could be trapped air going thru or the cold water going thru hot pipes and hissing
Some time I hear that if I make a couple of coffees in a row

No answer from anyone on this review page. I rang DeLonghi and they said I should leave the grinder on 3-4, which I have done - the same 'stewed' coffee no matter what number I put it on. I'm taking the machine for a (warranty) check of the grinder. If this is as good as it gets, I should have stuck with my Aldi pod machine and saved $600 +.

Ours is brand new replacing the identical model which worked perfectly until last week. Hence the replacement machine, followed installation instructions etc.
Machine is delivering bad coffee, even on the finest grind settling. No crema.
We have had the identical machine for years without any issues.
Only difference with this machine in the water filter.
So frustrating.
Any advice gratefully received

I have a lot of problems using pre-ground coffee. I have the dial set correctly to the left, I put a scoop of ground coffee in the slot. The first cup mostly works (70% of the time maybe), if I try a second one it hardly ever works. The triangle warning light and grounds container lights flash and it stops. If I turn off and on again and put in another scoop it mostly works. Emptying the grounds container does not solve it.

I have the same issue on mine. It’s only 18 months old. I suspect the heating element is broken, so the machine just stalls waiting in vain for the temperature to rise. No idea how to fix it though. Sorry. Do come back if you work it out please!
