Antibac has your back

published

I find the anti bac has good coverage. The smell takes a couple weeks to disappear though. You need to get it up quick and roll on wet to avoid roller lines. The low sheen finish is probably a bit shinier than other brands and what I would prefer, and it does texture/orange peel more easily than other brands, but the colour is perfect and it is easy to clean compared to other paints. I’ve rolled it, sprayed it and also sprayed with an airless and back rolled and all methods work well. Spraying does tend to go through more.

Good paint, forgiving and easy to apply

published

I have just completed painting the 3 bedrooms in my house with Dulux Wash & Wear Low Sheen (Tranquil retreat grey) and found it easy to apply with good coverage ( 2 coats per room ). Re coat time was short, painted 1st coat in the morning and re coated the same afternoon ( hot weather ), time will tell of the durability but so far happy with the result achieved. Not sure why so many other reviews are saying 4 - 5 coats are required for even coverage (possibly people are skimping on equipment / prep or got bad batches of paint)? I am not a pro painter but did not find the product difficult to use.

Don't waste your money and more importantly your time.

published

We bought a new house and decided to repaint the entire house. We went with Dulux as we perceived it as a premium brand.

All I can say is we are bitterly disappointed with the product performance.

Very poor coverage and walls needed multiple applications to get average results.

Ended up switching to another brand to complete the job. Thankfully that product worked extremely well.

House smells like cat urine

published

After painting the master bedroom with wash and wear we noticed a bad smell. We made a complaint to Bunnings and a dulux rep told us it was a bad batch of paint . He gave us a new batch at no extra cost and repainted the master bedroom and one of the kids bedroom. Now we have two rooms that smell like cat urine. I've had with dulux

Love my final finish.

published

I was super pleased with my final finish on my walls after using Wash & Wear Low Sheen. I love to read and found the Datasheet for the Wash & Wear which was super helpful. I suggest having a read before painting as many things can influencer your paint work. Thanks Dulux. One happy customer here.

Mottled appearance of finished walls and ceiling.

I did all the recommended preparations but three coats later of Dulux Washand Wear Plus Kitchen and Bathroom paint and the finish is still slightly mottled. I could have used a cheaper paint and had a better result. Very frustrating and disappointing.

I buy nothing but Dulux

published

I have been using Dulux paints for about 45 years. Painting is just about the worst chore that a DIY can do, so the less often you have to do it the better. You cannot save money on paint - you get what you pay for. I have never had Dulux paint peel. A tip I learnt is never use ceiling white, use flat white instead, a bit dearer but smoother and easy to clean. I have only had one disaster where wall paint went on white and gradually go brown patches but it may be that I used part of a used tin that may have had rust in it. Sorry to read of so many dissatisfied users. My wife at times has bought other brands but I refuse to use them. I only rated it 4/5 for Value because it is expensive but it is good,

Terrible

published

Have painted many houses in the past and never had a problem before. Now using this product I find the coverage poor. Painting over white interior walls with Hogs Bristle, after two coats it is extremely patchy and seems to be an array of different shades. Previous room took 3 coats to put a light grey over white. Looking for another brand. And what about my $176. My daughter also starting to renovate, just sent her text, avoid Dulux.

Happy

published

After asking pro painters advice they have all said Dulux. Despite some reviews on here I purchased Dulux Wash & Wear to paint my granny flat . My neighbour kindly helped me and couldn’t believe the excellent coverage. We have got away with only one coat on a slightly darker base colour with Natural white.
I sometimes wonder where some of these reviews stem from.

Streaky finish has appeared 1 week after painting

published

I’ve never had paint that has created the finish this paint has, did everything right, washed ceiling with sugar soap wiped clean with 2 buckets of water, patched and then lightly sanded existing ceiling white. Yet it is super streaky. Paint did seem to dry a lot faster than other paints I have used. Unfortunately I painted our 4 bedroom house with this paint and it took about a week to show itself. So dissatisfied should have just bought the elcheapo ceiling white that bunnings sells for $5 a litre!!! Used dulux wash and wear ( normal) on the walls and it looks great

Its horrible - magnet for marks and especially the Theatre black paint we used in the theatre room.

published

The Wash and Wear name is not suitable for these paints, the marks cannot be removed from the walls. we have used "white on white" for the walls and after a weeks there is marks on it everywhere. It is hard to clean these marks. We just moved into our new home and it is already looking old.

The Theatre black you are not even able to remove the marks that the kids of done to the wall. we will have to repaint the whole room. I will never recommend this colour.

Don't use Dulux Lexicon Half - it's not neutral

published

We spent $5,500 painting a whole house with Lexicon half strength and it's terrible. It has so much blue, grey and green undertones it's ridiculous. When we tested it, it was white, paint the whole house and it's anything but. We have told everyone not to use it and they haven't. They purchased Taubmans. We are stuck with this now and yes it's taken a year for the smell to go. Occasionally we get a whif of it. Please don't use this product. You'll be upset every time you walk into your house.

useless paint

published

came back to Dulux paint only because of Dulux paint consultant advise on colour and discount offered, I am very meticulous when it comes to prep work and using the best gear to paint with, so using Dulux note the following
Used white base tinted to an off white mix,

1 coverage power is useless, off white even over a pastel colour it will take three coats
2 finish is very poor, and found the only way to get this paint to lay down without blemish is to add 10-15% Floetrol to mix.
3 If you want to see how a paint company can screw up a paint mix try Dulux

Worst paint ever

Awful smell (bacteria from bad batch) 6 months later

Worst experience with Dulux and still not taking responsibility for their bacteria-laden paint. They will not return calls and the painter blames everything on them as well, but still nothing from Dulux. Time for that class action lawsuit everyone is talking about.

Wash & Wear Low Sheen

Hi we are using dulux wash n wear low sheen on plasterboard walls. We used dulux acrylic water based sealer as undercover. The walls feel gritty. Is this how it's supposed to feel? We were expexting a smoother finish given that it's a wash n wear product. Should we have used a satin product? Thanks, Helen

DuluxDulux

Hi Ozone, thank you for reaching out! We're sorry to read that your experience with Dulux Acrylic Sealer Undercoat and Dulux Wash&Wear Low Sheen hasn't been so positive . Both these products do not behave this way and it's unusual for these products to feel gritty. We recommend a brand new good synthetic roller 10-12mm nap for your application. Please lightly sand the walls with a wet and dry sandpaper P400 and re-apply 1 coat of Dulux Wash& Wear Low Sheen. Hope this helps! Please feel free to contact us on 132525 option 2 for further advice. Wash & Wear

Can you use Dulux Wash & Wear using a spray gun for interior vj walls?

1 answer
Dulux
DuluxDulux

Hi SeaHaze

Thank you for your enquiry! Dulux Wash&Wear can be applied by a spray gun and suitable for all standard spray equipment, to aid atomisation, you can thin up to 100ml per litre of water for conventional spray and for airless spray 30ml per litre of water can be added. Hope this helps you with your project!
