Great Vacuum
Great vacuum cleaner, great suction even for those dirt in the carpet. The only down side will the be vacuum hose is hard & the unit is bulky that take up quite lot space for storage. Also not really a light a vacuum too. Easy to clean the filter and clearing up the dirt.

Makes housework a breeze
This is a great vacuum cleaner. Very strong suction. It comes with several attachments which can be interchanged easily. Height adjustable so it's good for posture and great for reaching high places. It is easy to take apart and empty the barrel. Great for cleaning up pet hair. Not too heavy to lift. Very happy with this vacuum!

Thinking of buying one? Don't!
Just read a post about the wheel breaking off due to poor piece of plastic that attaches it to the machine. This is exactly what happened to mine. My last Dyson lasted more than 12 years. This one was much less than 12 months. Forget about contacting customer service number. The wait time can be close to an hour. I know because I've had to call on no less than 3 occasions just to arrange getting it to a service agent. Poor machine design and poor customer service. I should have done my homework before purchasing rather than relying on my satisfaction with my previous machine.

Design fault, wheels fall off, should be doing a product recall
Bought a Dyson bigball because we liked the prospect of a bagless vacuum with a good reputation. Wheel broke off the very first time we used it and returned it back to the store and swapped it for a new unit. two months later the same thing happens with the replacement unit. The plastic piece holding the wheels on is poor quality. Cannot believe within 2 - 3 months the same part has broken in two different machines. Repairs can only be done Mon to Fri between 9am and 4pm, Not flexible if you work during the week. Now trying to get a refund and ...Read more
everyone from Dyson to the retailer are ducking for cover and blaming each other, not happy Jan. Dyson denies it is a design fault, but I see I am not the only person experiencing this issue, no doubt there are others out there unaware of this site.1 comment

Really hate this vacuum
Sadly after 8 years of loyal service my old Dyson went to heaven. Having loved it so much I bought this version as a replacement. I have honestly hated using it from day one. The only thing I'm happy with is the suction (when the tiny barrel is completely empty sometimes having to pull dirt out by hand as it gets caught) the design is full of flaws. The multi floor tool is designed so badly that you can hear it scraping on tiles & wood floors. Anything larger than fine dirt is pushed around and you have to lift head up & place it over the top o...Read more
f debris to pick it up. When using the wand with the small brush attachment I find the handle on top to be so awkward & uncomfortable that I hold the wand itself. The connection where the swivel part is then catches & pinches my skin that my forearm is always covered in little bruises. You have to be very careful after emptying the barrel that the bottom lid is clipped shut. This unclips so easily & the dirt falls all over the floor. It is near impossible to carry the vacuum with the wand attached as the storage clip is useless and the wand just falls off. Not to mention that wand lays over the handle. Stupid design. I've never sworn so much as I do to this vacuum. Dyson seem to just keep pumping out newer models with no thought to being user friendly WHAT SO EVER. Hate it X 1000.Similar opinion? My DC 19 was much better
Had the DC 19 which I loved until the motor died. Replaced it with the Big Ball Origin. Have found it to be considerably louder than my previous machine. The dual floor tool scrapes along the tiles when switched from carpet to hard floors. Not worth the money when you can buy better at a cheaper price.

Utterly amazed
The biggest problem with Dysons is that they don't die. I bought a DC01 in 2003 and it lasted a decade eventually being donated to my brother. I got another DC01 second hand that is still going strong. It was a hard decision to buy another considering how good and strong the DC01 is.
However admittedly the DC01 is a little heavy and we were in the market for a newer, light weighing model so we ended up buying a DC63 Small Ball. Now we had just finished vacuuming with the DC01 and decided to give the DC63 a go. Within an hour we had filled t...Read more
he hopper. The carpets felt and looked significantly cleaner It was far quicker, easier to use the DC63 and it was amazingly strong in its suction. What more can i say. This machine is amazing. Its an absolute steal at $599. There are no negatives, its light weight and it comes with a bunch of attachments. Just buy it and forget about the competition.Similar opinion? Reasonable but pricey
I've owned three Dysons: a DC05, a top-of-the-range DC54, and now a new 'Origin'. The first was a great vacuum, and lasted years. I can't sing its praises loudly enough! The second was approximately twice the cost of the first; lasted less than half as long, and was a right royal pain to use! The DC54 barrel capacity was way too small; you needed to stick your fingers into the thing to empty it properly; the chord was far too short; the machine turned over all the time, etc. Given I've only just bought it, the jury is still out on the third. Ho...Read more
wever, I'm hoping it will renew my faith in the Dyson product ;) In closing I like Dyson vacuums, obviously. But I've noticed the build quality has diminished greatly between my first Dyson, and the latest iteration. And while I reckon they're reasonable cleaners, I'm convinced they're significantly overpriced for what you get, hence I've gone back to the lower priced end of the range. Disappointing comparing with my 15 years old DC08
My 15 yo Dyson DC08 brush broke and Dyson has no replacement spares anymore- very disappointing because rest of it is solid and sound, was obviously made to last those 15 years ago. So having deep loyalty and trust fillings deep in my heart I bought newest Big Ball Orygin. Only at home when unpacked and examined a serious questions raised in my mind. It has overal filling of cheap plastics. Flimsy power switch and cord retractor require gentle women's touch not to break them, I'm used to use my foot on my old DC08. My home wall corners are butt...Read more
ered badly from old DC08 hitting them for 15 years hardly leaving a scratch on solid DC08's dust collector. Big Ball looks like it needs to be nursed around, kept at distance from those "danger" spots, or risk a flimsy thin plastic dust releasing flap edge chipped off. And that under engineered( looks like an afterthought) tiny clip holding dust flap looks like it has no chance lasting even warranty length of even carefull weare and tear. More disturbingly when we put it to use on a polished timer floor it got scratched. Wife got mad but I had to investigate so I tried it on out of sight spot and it really scratched it. I could hear rubbing too and fill even more when catching on a joints of boards. I rang Dyson, they have sent new brush, no questions asked. I offered sending old brush for their benefit of finding why but they declined. New brush arrived and it is exactly like original. I concluded it's a design fault. Also bristles were pushing smal debris in front instead of allowing them to be sacked in. Not wanting a fight I modified the brash by grinding and sanding protruding edges around inlet slot, also I have cut deeper and wider the teeth in the front bristles too. !!! Do you read this Mr Dyson's chief engineer/designer? It works fine now no scratching, no uni graduation. Overall this new Dyson Big Bull...t looks like it has no chance of giving me another 15 years of happiness as did the old school engineer of 15 years ago. I understand, I wasn't born yesterday, it's a typical profiteering thinking of manufacturers of household appliances: make it perfect entering market at first to win its big share and name awareness then change to cheaper materials and build in a certain failure time bomb set for when warranty expires, and sell with more profit and more often. A wise friend of mine said: stuff Dyson, buy $99 vacuum, he did it, it works just like $700 one and you will have no regret when you damp it broken after couple of years (his $99 still goes strong after 3 years), then buy another $99 one, laughing at Dyson cleaver engineer. Mr Dyson, you have been exposed!! Victor1 comment

It is good.
I am happy with the machine, bought it half a year ago. Suction is good. Collects dog and cat hair well from hardwood floor. Have to empty container after each vacuum, though there is a lot of hair from the dog of course. I do not like that it is difficult to empty dust container. Dust get stucked between walls and filter.

Dyson Wheels fall off told common problem !
The vacuum works ok but Paying $799 the wheel should not break off after 9 months ! Told it is a common problem where the machine heats up and melts the plastic components. I was only offered it to be repaired not replaced. Anyway if i did get a new replacement the wheels will probably fall off again. I don't believe it is worth the extra money! It may be due to Hype and good advertisement to command such a price.

or we have a manufacturing problem with that model as a number of people have complained about wheels falling off . Phoned the Department Store 15th of March who contacted Dyson and the Vacuum was still waiting to be repaired . By the 17th March still no repair so Harvey Norman solved the problem by replacing me with a Brand new Vacuum just hope the wheels don't fall of it ! If a full refund was offered I would have taken it and bought a different brand .Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Wheel fell off!
Was enjoying my new machine until today. It is 3 weeks old and the wheel fell off. I think Dyson should have recalled this model because others are saying the same thing. This vacuum was a replacement for my previous Dyson under product care because it was losing suction and sounded unhealthy. Dyson needs to work on their quality control.

Not up to Scratch
Disappointed with this machine. Have had Dyson machines before but after 1 week its going back for a refund. The floor tool just sounds like it is scratching everything it touches, the floor tool just pushes dirt along the floor not suck it up. The vacuum on carpet does work better but not on hard floors. The machine feels very flimsy with the cord retract and on and off buttons (will wonder if they last). Machine seems to be a lot noisier than other machines I have used. Also wonder how long the clip on the base of the dust collector will last.

Not Happy
I have had quite a few vacuum cleaners in my time but this Dyson Big Ball Origin is the worst one l have ever used. I saved up to buy this Wizz Bang Dyson Vacuum. The head is large and cumbersome. The motor is not smaller than a normal maching and the brissels on the head just push the dust along the floor boards and doesn't suck it up. I could have spent $99 and brought one from KMart that probably would have done the same thing. On calling Dyson all they said they could do is bring it into their service centre to make sure that it was working properly. What good would that do!

Questions & Answers
Sandra Robinsonasked
I have a Dyson Big Ball and while it sucks ok without the head on as soon as i put the head on it blows!! I end up with dirt spread all over the floor and none in the vacuum. What is the solution to this?

Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Sandra,
Thank you for reaching out.
Based on this, it sounds like there is a blockage or restriction in airflow through the machine which can cause this to happen.
For a Big Ball Origin, please remove the floor tool and thoroughly check the airways for anything caught prior to retrying the machine.
If you aren't able to locate any blockages or we can assist further, please reach out to [email protected] and our Dyson Experts will be more than happy to assist further.
