Our E522b fridge keeps beeping constantly when the doors are shut. When we press the buttons in the back of the fridge it stops momentarily, but then starts again within a minute. Any ideas?

Hi, our fridge/freezer (E522BLI) has just in the last day started beeping every 30 mins - its about 14 years old and still working fine. Anyone else had this happen or know why it's happening? Very frustrating!!
Thanks, Debbie

The same thing just started a few days ago. I rang support this morning and they had no idea as no indicator lights are flashing inside. Still seems to be working though. Only suggested that a repairer has a look for $145 fee. We are going to try a full clean and manual defrost over the next few days. Empty everything out, press = and down buttons for 4 seconds and leave doors open for a minimum of 3 hours. This is suppose to reset. Fingers crossed it works. Sorry I can't help but would love to know the answer if anyone else has had the problem.

Hi Deb, we worked it out. It is really silly but it was not the fridge. Do you have a dog? Last time we went to the vet we picked up a Braveto magnet, that we put on the front of the fridge. It has a countdown and will beep twice every 30 minutes when 3 months expires. That is why there was nothing flashing inside the fridge. We have not done the reset yet but gee the fridge is now clean. Hope you have a simple answer too.

Hi Dan, thanks so much for your reply - thats exactly what it was with ours too! We felt so silly, but i suspect its more common than we think. I've since got rid of the bravecto magnet and put a reminder in my phone - no more beeping every 30mins!

Hi our fridge is 5 years old, and we have an intermittent problem that lasts a few days then goes away for a couple of weeks, but then returns.
We open either fridge or freezer door, and it starts beeping like a reversing truck while the tepm lights glash red. Everything is cold enough and the temp lights are still set as per normal and have not been changed.
Any thoughts please?

I purchased this fridge about 2 years ago. It's a good fridge, but in the last days we noticed a horrible smell from it. We found a tray down the bottom at the back of the fridge that had the wires that run from the fridge to the compressor sitting in it. The tray was full of a horrible smelling and looking liquid. What could have caused this?

We had the same problem, it was spilled milk which made it's way to the drip tray

I have a F&P E522B and the freezer ices over and leaks water out. The drain is frozen into the pan. I have used a hairdryer previously to melt the ice a check the drain for blockages. Any suggestions?

I think you should contact an appliance repair person...which could take a while, as my problem was with trying to get a F & P designated repair person - so be patient, it may take a while. But using a hair dryer may be dangerous and at best would be a short term remedy.

Sounds like you need to adjust the legs of the fridge it may be on a slopping floor. You can unwind the front legs to adjust tilt of fridge.

Shamus

Agree with others, check the legs and that the fridge is not leaning forward.

Just bought a condo that has this refrigerator in it. There is no ice maker so we need to add one. I've searched for a part number for the ice maker unit with no luck. Is this available?

Also, would like to reverse the swing on the doors. Has anyone with this model done this, and do the doors seal okay afterward?

I can only guess as to the reason that is happening but suggest that the evaporation tray underneath is not emptying before the next lot of water comes in. You don't mention where you live but if it's anything like the weather we're having at present, humidity may be the cause. The heat from the fridge's motor is supposed to evaporate the water, but when the humidity is very high it just takes longer.
We live in a dry climate as a rule, so have never had the problem. I suggest you don't panic too much but wait and see if it corrects itself once the humidity returns to normal.

Toerag
Toerag

The tube to the evaporation tray is most likely blocked or frozen solid. It requires some practical expertise, patience and common sense to resolve.
Or you can just pay someone to fix it.

There is something called Sabbath mode on your troubleshooting page of you fridge booklet. (if you kept it) But we rang Fisher and Paykel and they sent a service guy out. His answer was to remove the very back panel inside the freezer and replace it, as he stated the fan(about 6cm wide) freezes over and stops the cold air circulating. But he replaced the fan last April as well. So we are on our 3rd fan since we bought the fridge 2 and a half years ago. This one better last a bit longer than 9 months.

I have just bought a F&P BM Fridge 517L with the freezer on the bottom. The problem I am experiencing is when the top Fridge door is allowed to close by itself, the impact is causing the bottom freezer door to open. Is there something that will remedy the problem or am I stuck with checking the freezer door after others open the fridge door. The fridge works okay other than this minor issue.

There should be small silver plaque at the bottom of the fridge near the feet at the front.

There is a compliance plate somewhere in it on the fridge, I think usually just inside the freezer door

Hi,
Our fridge is only 18 months old and has just started making a very loud noise when on. The temp in the freezer is stable but in the fridge compartment it is cooling to well below what it usually does. Any ideas??
Many thanks

1 answer

I am not a fridge mechanic but..
If by fridge cooling more than usual you mean it is freezing(mostly in the top shelves), it may be set too Cold or something is causing the cold air to leek from the fridge and extra cold air is constantly being pumped into the fridge from the freezer.... which in turn would mean the machine has to work harder and longer

There is no actual thermometer that show a reading, the least dots you have the colder it is.
