Never worked well from day 1, nursed along the last few years
From day one, never worked with washing powders, must use liquid. High efficiency mode never worked well hence not used. From day one, machine had out of balance type issues which was manageable in the earlier years of ownership (first five or six) but has steadily been getting worst to point to where literally a single pair of socks puts this thing out of balance. Requires constant supervision to help it fix it's out of balance load. This machine which was supposed to be water and energy efficient. It is thus not either of those things due to ...Read more
above listed reasons! Was not a cheap machine and we weren't in a financial position to purchase a replacement until recently. Thus our persistence all these years. Quite disappointed with the product to be honest.Purchased in February 2021 for $990.00.

Would NEVER buy again
This machine was okay for the first couple of years, then started to thump loudly. Thumping increased in frequency until now I can't even use it - have to 'rebalance' clothes and restart over and over again, cannot even finish one wash due to this. The thumping sound is like a car crashing into the laundry, and the damn machine moves across the laundry as if possessed. I'm reduced to washing by hand until I can get time to go to the shop and buy a new one, which won't be another F&P! Oh, I also had to change to liquid detergent as powder detergent always left marks on clothes.

Will go out of my way to never buy a Fisher&Paykel product ever again
Absolute rubbish. Wouldn’t wash a sock. Doesn’t fill. Doesn’t rinse. Doesn’t spin. Junk. Garbage. Wouldn’t even use as a boat anchor. Would happily drop from a great height. Never again will I buy a F&P product and will tell everyone I know to avoid this company like the plague.

Worst machine
This machine is trouble. It tangles clothes, leaves lint on all dark items, is frequently unbalanced and makes loud cluncking noises often,
After using for only 2 1/2 years it died. I'm told it is a control panel failure.
Not worth repairing so it's going out for hard garbage collection.
I'm looking forward to getting a new one.

Built well and very user friendly
Coming on 9 years old, and used multiple times a week, this machine is well suited to big loads. From heavy work clobber to delicates, king size bed sheets and doonas, the range of pre-set options to choose from will have a washing solution for all needs. Being able to tailor those settings to each load makes it very user friendly. And then a reminder after 100 washes to run a "clean me" cycle makes putting the clothes in the barrel the hardest part of washing. Always one to wash with liquid (not powder), my only negative is a white residue is sometimes left on black garments - in both warm / cold cycles. Otherwise, the unit is very gentle even on the toughest of loads - a brand I would certainly purchase again in the future.
Purchased in July 2021 at Harvey Norman for $975.00.

Read the reviews carefully
Lint left, unbalanced continually, and some clothes and sheets need rewashing after washing. I don't ever have dirty items, but many come out dirty after washing. Its aqua smart meaning frugal with water, but you actually need water to wash clothes. While frugal with water the cycle takes over an hour so expensive on power. Read the reviews carefully because it appears some are very questionable in their endorsing such a woeful washing machine that should have been recalled. After staying in Timeshares throughout the world using hundreds of washing machines over the years, this machine is the worst I have ever encountered.

leaves lint and a white residue on darks
Does not wash blacks well, leaves a residue of powder or lint? Have tried cleaning machine several times and changing to liquid but still can't get a good wash on darks.

Excellent machine if used properly
This machine is excellent if you adhere to the manufacturer’s advice.
It will not clean well if overloaded and will imbalance if underloaded. Use the suggested detergent in correct amounts. I use this machine 5 times a week with my family’s clothes. I also put through massage towels at a rate of 20 per week. Always a great wash. I also like the programming with is intuitive and the clean cycle keeps me up with when the machine needs cleaned.

The WORST Washing Machine
I agree with what other reviewers have stated about the Aquasmart Model loads being unbalanced. This happens constantly! One load of laundry can take 5 hours due to all of the sensors detecting 'unbalanced' laundry. This washing machine is a joke! We went out today, to buy a Maytag-they have always been reliable.

The best washing machine I have ever owned!
This machine is fully programmable, uses very little detergent and will WASH ANYTHING in cold water -backpacks, running shoes, clothes, manchester - including doona covers and delicate handwash-only items & it has never broken down! Its technology (touch control) and frontloader-like economy attracted my attention and it has really paid off. Being very happy with my current Fisher & Paykel, I did my due diligence on this new front-loader-like version to save my back and knee joints. I also wanted a more economical and sustainable machine to u...Read more
pdate my current 12 year old Fisher & Paykel toploader so I researched retailer and manufacturer websites, Choice Magazine and then also the user forums to see what people were saying about the Aquasmart. Although many people were complaining about soap residue, I did not really take them at their word as the underlining problem seemed to be that they were still using toploader washing detergents and/or too much detergent for their new machine. I have used this machine 2-7 times a week and have now had it for over 9 years and have never looked back.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

happy with the machine
This washing machine cleans really well.. clothes come out rinsed very well. doesn’t seem to wear out our clothes like other brands. I’ve found a top loader is far easier and more convenient to use. all round a great machine that does what it supposed too. we definately made the right choice.

Worst washing machine should have been recalled
Dud machine bad from day one it took too long to wash and continuously noisy and offbalance and it lasted 11 years was not a heavy user 2 loads a week and black clothes were covered in washing powder every time I used Omo had to use liquid to overcome this issue. My old Simpson lasted 35 years Fisher and Paykel no longer a New Zealand company sold to Haier crap brand will not buy ever again!

loved this machine
I had this machine for almost ten Years. Had a perfect run, not 0ne call out. My towels were always spun well and dried really fluffy, never had a problem with any of the cycles. Why on earth I got the idea to try a different brand. BOSCH what a disarster. When I can afford to I'm going back to FISHER AND PAYKEL.

Not a good purchase
The worst machine we've owned. Was in for repairs multiple times. Loud, bangs like a bin truck. Is not kind to anything delicate so bring out the mesh bags if you have them. Will not run a spin cycle without endless rinses in between. Wish we had bought anything else.

White Trash
Mine just broke. So happy. Time to buy a new one. Clothes came out dirtier than went in. Sheets in knots. always unbalanced, black stuff just impossible to come out clean, went through about every washing detergent on the market to find something that wouldn't leave residue, gave up on the HE feature years ago - never washes properly, takes ages, have resorted to doing many smaller loads - just so things will clean properly and if you want to wash a blanket or doona, be prepared to spend the whole afternoon at home tending to the thing. White Trash. Pure and simple.

Lint all over cloths. Get a work out with the cloths brush on every item.
Leaves dark marks on clothes very disappointed every time I do a wash!
Hardly any water to cover clothes!
Bad idea! Traded in a front loader which I hated but this tops it all.'
Bought second hand but looked in very good condition, sad I didn't read reviews before hand.

Not as good as I expected
The machine is quiet and reasonably faithful. It has no "quick" cycle for clothes that only need freshening.
It also has no lint filter in the wash area. This means that all articles are left with lint and/or fine grit in any creases - there are lots in a sheet! Any dark synthetics are decorated with pale lint on the surface. Both these problems would be almost eliminated with a lint filter IN the wash area. Effluent lint filters will not help here. I would happily use a clip in one if it were available. Please return to the same cleanliness s...Read more

4 Towels
Trying to wash 4 towels. 4. Towels.
I've reset it about 20 times now due to unbalancing. 4 towels. Absolutely ridiculous.
Machine leaks, unbalances, leaves lint on clothes, basically what all other complaints are about.
This thing is actually struggling to wash 4 towels. 1 bath towel and 3 hand towels to be exact. What a joke.

Tilt, tilt, tilt!
Amen to the above. I've just hung out a load of washing after it was on spin cycle for 90 mins. During that time I rebalanced the load (4 bedsheets and pillow cases + 1 bath towel) 14 times. After the 'tilt' beep sounded the 15th time I hung them out soaking wet and phoned for a technician. I was informed that the 'suspension rods' were probably gone and replacements would cost $200 + $142 service charge. No thanks. This machine is going to the tip. I gave it an 'ok' rating for the previous 'ok' service. But was tempted to give a lower rating t...Read more
hanks to the customer service rep. I first spoke to, who advised me to turn off the machine at the wall and turn it on again. "What will that do?" I asked. Long pause. "Probably re-set it or something." [Me] "But wouldn't it re-set after being turned off at the end of the wash cycle?" [Longer pause] "Maybe." [Me] "Do you have any other suggestions?" [Rep]: "Don't overload it." [Me] "I didn't." [Rep] "Have you tried turning it off at the wall?" [Me] "Can I speak to a technician?"Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Reliable and water saving but there are a few things I don't like...
Had our machine 8 years and it's still going strong - have never needed a technician or spare parts. Uses minimal water, washes well and has a great range of programs including hand wash and cycles for cleaning sneakers and soft toys, etc. Two things I don't like about this machine are the fact that without a centre spindle clothes can get tangled together - especially when you use the soak cycle - however the upside of no spindle is you can easily fit in large, bulky items like sleeping bags, blankets, etc. The second thing that's annoying is there's no "quick" cycle - I think newer models might have this feature?

Questions & Answers
Angel 2014asked
Hi, My Aquasmart washing machine was not switching on. I checked the power plugs were working and then turned it off at the wall for 60 seconds. The machine turned on, but now none of the buttons to program are working. I push them and nothing happens, including the power button. I held it down for 2-3 seconds to see if the key lock went on, but that isn't working either. Please help.
