Lint!
I love the capacity of this machine. Do not need to do so many loads as drum is so large. What would have been 1.5 loads only takes 1 load for this machine. Have read reports about not being to add in clothes but you can. Don't pause the machine just add before the spin. Maybe certain cycles you can do this. I can do this on regular. But my biggest gripe is the lint. I've read the Instructions about separating the lint givers and receivers but keep coming up with articles that need to have lint removed frequently. Have never had to use tape so ...Read more
much to remove lint from clothes. UPDATE: 14/9/17 The technician came out last Friday 6 days ago to eventually say our machine has no lint filter. Apparently this model does not have one. He advised that he will order, should be here by the following Wednesday. So I thought I'd suck it up. Maximum 5 days of removing lint and pilling. It's Thursday today and still no filter...2 comments

Good top loader
We bought this washing machine to replace an Electrolux 7.5KG front loader one that died and was struggling with the volume of washing for a family of 4 with 2 boys.
We wanted the 10KG volume because we were doing so many loads of washing and it was taking a whole day to do washing on the weekend. With this change we've gone from 6 loads to 2.
On the machine itself (will get onto the top vs front loader issue in a second) its fine and does what you want with no issues and the build and finish quality seems to be good.
It fits a lot of ...Read more
washing in it. I know there are 10KG+ front loaders but I can't see how they could compare, this thing is huge. It has a lot of programs which is good but we only use the quick wash and easy iron really anyway. It has auto water level sensing which seems to work well and the lid has an auto lock but allows you access when its not spinning or is paused (another plus for top loaders...). Its also very quite.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Replacing a Good Machine with a Good Machine
Our old F&P top loader failed after around 20 years of great service so we replaced it with the new model, slightly larger load size but same footprint and costing less than the original one (in straight out dollar terms, ignoring inflation!). After 6 months it is going like a dream. It does a great job, is quieter and smarter than the old one (e.g. it told us when we need to "clean" it by doing a hot cycle without any clothes) and adjusts the water level automatically. Just one niggle: the control panel is dark in color which makes it hard to ...Read more
see the programs unless there is good lighting in the room, not always the case in a laundry. We ordered it from Appliances Online and the price included delivery, installation and removal of the old machine. There were fast to deliver despite it being just after New Year.Similar opinion? Computer died after 3 years, just out of warranty
Worked okay for 3 years. Then the computer died. Terrible. Never buy another Fisher Paykel product again. I Rang the call centre. Service fee will be about $150 and the new computer part over $100. Not sure it's worth having it fixed as high probability of something else failing after. Lousy quality product.

Disappointed!
Our previous Fisher Paykel needed a new electronic panel after 13 yrs of use and they were discontinued so we were forced to replace. The only machines that would fit in the space we had was the new Fisher Paykel. Or a Front Loader. I did a lot of research and we were happy with Fisher Paykel in the past so we went with the Fabric Smart 8.5kg. Well from the day it was delivered we weren't happy. Even though it was 8.5kg (our old one was 7) we couldn't fit anywhere near as much in which means you have to do more loads and waste water. The barrel...Read more
was half the size! Then every time I was ironing our clothes random items had a large oily looking patch on them. This has been happening for the entire 12 months I've owned it. At first I thought it wasn't washing stains out. But no clothes that had no stains were coming out with stains. So I would have to wash the items again. Not ideal on a Sunday night when the kids school clothes needed to be ready the next day. Its also incredicble rough on clothing. We have holes in clothes and stitching undone on items that have only been washed a few times. I also like to wash our towels on hot water, but even though it was on hot the water option it was still stone cold. After 5 calls to customer care someone finally told me that you have to turn the Eco Wash Option off. You would think if you selected hot wash you would get hot wash! But No, lets frustrate consumers!!! Plus the Eco Wash option is a gimmick. Its more a hindrance than anything else. Then after a few months we had issues with the electronic panel. If you first turned the machine on say a Regular wash but then before it started you want to change to a Heavy or a Quick wash etc, the machine just continued on to do a Regular wash. Nothing would reset it. Even turning its power off and removing plug at the wall. Needless to say a technician came and replaced it with a new board which was meant to be a better one. So far that's working ok. Then onto the next annoying feature. These machines are meant to save water. Well not a chance. Every time you pause it, which we do often when our kids are in the shower, the stupid thing goes and empties all its water and then if has to refill when you uncaused it. Oh this is a new feature to protect the wear and tear on the machine. What a waste of water! If its ever off balance it empties and refills to try and rebalance itself. It does this three or four times sometimes. What a waste of water, Id rather it beep so I could rebalance it. It also has other instances where it just empties and refills unnecessarily. So all in all I HATE this machine. Please look at other brands. Just because your previous Fisher Paykel was a dream, doesn't mean these new ones are. They are water wasting, clothes destroying, time wasting monsters!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It is the workhorse of the household.
It's strong. It isn't easily thrown off balance. It can do a bunch of towels at a time. It does 4 loads of grubby clothing for teenage boys a day per day. The washes come out really well cleaned. The cycle selection is simple & sensible. The warranty, sales and service was extraordinary. They let me upgrade & factored in the value of my previous Fisher & Paykel. It is the right model for me. Could not manage without it.

Washes well but....
We have been using our new washer, replacing an old fisher paykel, for two months. Was a necessary purchase, the worst sort, and matched a jbhifi sale price (insane price) at appliances online. They offer to install and take away your old machine, so that's why we will always buy big appliances from them.
Anyhoo, the washer is good, but has a major drawback (to me anyway) that frustrates me more than it probably should. I ALWAYS need to put more stuff in after cycle has started. #unorganised This machine does not like to be paused. As soon as...Read more

Love it!
Bought this machine 6 months ago and so far it is a dream! Very quiet, touch controls with a smooth selection dial. The panel for the touch controls is glass and the lid toughen glass, so I know this will last for a very long time, if treated properly. The 10kg capacity is great for king sized sheets or a weeks of dirty clothes.

Best thing I've spent my money on!
This washing machine is the best after having a sensor machine, going from agitater then a sensor to agitater again I would never recommend a sensor machine ever they are a waste of money and water! we were recommended a sensor machine and wished we had never brought it from the start. This machine cleans within 40minutes and it's the quietist machine I've been around. You have more options with water levels soil levels and also has a echo wash if you like to save water. The noise for when it's finished isn't annoying and is loud enough to be h...Read more
eard with a door closed. I'm glad I spent the money I did for it because it's definitely going to last me a while. My previous one wasn't even 6 years old before it started to die leaving rust over clothes and not cleaning anything properly eg socks would still come out smelling like socks still. If you are looking for a good long lasting reliable machine I would recommend this one.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
why doesnt it take the lint and hair of the clothes?and where is the lint filter?

Ok
Had it for 5 months was great in the beginning but now noticing the lint problem it is shocking & the agitator just catches clothing & towels, have found singlets stretched & wrapped around the fins after each cycle & finding it is shreading edging of towels that arent even old, now wishing I had just purchased another simpson.

Never a problem
Had this unit over 15 years. Never had any technical or mechanical problems. Auto water sensor has been a bit finicky on occasion and rethinks itself a few times, but that is all we could say about it in a negative aspect. The purchase date provided is an approximation only.

Excellent Machine 14 years of trouble free use
This was the 3rd Fisher and Paykel top loader we have had in the past 30 years and because they have been so good we are just about to upgrade to a new one.
But we have discovered that they now make 3 models of the 10KG capacity and there is not a lot of difference between them for the $600 price tag difference so it seems like a marketing exercise rather than to provide a better quality product, particularly as the reviews for the most expensive model are far worse than the cheaper model.
What has come to light by reading all the reviews...Read more

NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!!!! !!?
We have been very happy and loyal Fisher and Paykel users since our twenties (now 70's) and regrettably have to say we are not happy with your call centre. After using a front loader in our caravan for nearly four years, we were delighted to purchase a new top loader when we moved back into a house again in January. We chose our washing machine based on the following criteria ... the FIsher and Paykel brand, the faster wash cycle with it being a top loader, the value for money (price)! Not minding it being a run out model soon to be discont...Read more
inued, the helpfulness of the salesman at Harvey Normans compared to the disinterested almost rude salesman at The Good Guys ... we wanted a quick, quiet machine which did a good wash. FIrst issue was when being installed out of the never before opened and non damaged box, was that there was a dent on the top side which is able to seen over the level of the tub beside it. This dent caused one of the hoses to jam so we needed to have a serviceman call to set it going. he indicated that the machine should have been exchanged but that was not possible due to it being the last for sale in the shop. He said that we should be due some compensation, so subsequently we emailed the service centre, receiving the automatic reply stating that we would receive a phone call from customer care in the next 24 to 48 hours ... some 4 weeks later we still hadn't received a call, so emailed a second time, copying the original email. It would now be more than two weeks since we received the second perfunctory reply saying we would receive a call from the call centre in 24 - 48 hrs ... no call. In the meantime we experienced difficulty getting the machine to do a spin only after hand washing some clothes. Our main issue other than the call centre, is the unfriendly logic of the model. To avoid necessitating a second service call, we called the call centre ... the girl on the phone assured us that we were doing everything right, therefore she and we concluded that it must be therefore a faulty machine. A serviceman called who understood the complex logic and showed us what to do ... the machine was not faulty at all. He also stated (as did the first technician) that we should be compensated for the dent on the side, and he is happy to verify the damage, having sited it first hand. We would have expected at least $100 discount had we purchased the washing machine out of the box, therefore having seen the dent before purchase. In summary, we are happy with Fisher and Paykel for over 50 years ... we like the machine for its speed and quietness and the way it does a good wash (the only issue we see is the logic of the machine being not easy to follow) extremely happy with the professionalism and helpfulness of the servicemen/technicians ... but the Call Centre has a lot to answer for!!! Can someone please get back to us and sort the dent issue for us ... thank you. SIncerely ... NicSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great buy.... Washes like a charm!!!
Great buy!!! The washing machine works very well with both cold and hot water. No lint is left behind on the clothes. Good locking mechanism while washing and spinning the clothes. Washes blankets, doonas and quilts with ease. Colors and whites are washed really great. This washing machine is really efficient with power and also water consumption. I would definitely recommend to everyone!!!!

Power cut on spin cycle and now it's dead!
The worst machine. Few months ago the machine kept saying 'power cut' when it got to the spin cycle in rinse 1. It would restart 10 seconds later for 1 minute then power cut again. Had a technician come in and said something had gone and needed a new part. $125 for the part, another $125 for the technician to come in. It's been 1 month and he still hasn't come in to fix as the part was back ordered.
Today, the machine DIED during a cycle. It won't turn on. I'm fed up with this machine, especially when we pay $1500!
Have to get another tec...Read more

Fed Up!!!!!
I have had numerous washing machines in my lifetime of 55 years, many of them Fisher and Paykel. Having been so happy with Fisher and Paykel before now, I bought another one. Before I bought it, I read reviews that commented on black grease marks on clothing and thought the commentors must have been doing something wrong. Fisher and Paykel have stated that the black grease on clothes is due to the use of fabric softener. However, I have been using fabric softener with several other machines, including past Fisher and Paykel ones, and have never...Read more
had any problem. I wish I had heeded the reviews, as my new Fisher and Paykel washing machine regularly leaves huge and numerous black grease marks on clothes, sheets, towels, bath mats etc. It has excellent sensing capabilities - it particularly knows when the wash is a light coloured wash, as it seems to reserve the most amount of black grease for these washes in particular. I am sick of double washing, and throwing out ruined clothes, and this is even despite the fact that I pull apart my machine every two or three washes and clean every part I can get to, something I have never had to do before. I have severe injuries that prevent me from hanging washing on a line, or ironing clothes. The only way I can avoid having to do this, is to use fabric softener and a clothes dryer, and hanging up clothes immediately that they are dry. Having to clean every part of my machine every week causes me great pain. I am fed up with it and am looking for a new machine, even though mine is only about 2 years old. The black grease seeps out from the joint between the plastic bottom of the drum and the metal sides, coating the clothes that touch the sides during the spin dry.Similar opinion? After 3 years the Washing Machine is not working -
At least 10 times our machine has stopped. When it gets to a spin cycle we get a message on LCD power cut, turn power off & on says restart in 10 seconds than stops after 5seconds.The power point is fine all other appliances are working perfectly. Fisher & Paykel produces rubbish products, I am very disappointed.

We found a very good brand and happy so far.
* Our clothes either colourful or white clean perfectly and rinse as well. No complaint so far from each home member.
* Not at all wear-out of our clothes.
* It is very quiet machine compare to our previous one. And thinking why we did not have before this machine.
* there are few favourite features like very quiet, gentle washing, facility of several washing mode which covers my whole family requirement.
* We are very happy and enjoying with the benefits of their features. Thanks Fisher & Paykel for such model.

Since we have received our lint filter our machine washes much better. Still have ‘some’ lint issues but not as bad as before. Have been advised to manually adjust water level as machine will automatically use least amount of water.
