The 2016 Ford Focus got back into my list because its not using the Power Shift anymore. I also like this car for the following reasons. Others may differ.
After test driving a few cars, this is the one that I can really sit back and feel relax while driving. This is how I like to drive the car, though occasionally I am able to have some fun driving it differently. The 132-kilowatter Focus LZ sport is quite zippy for me. I find this car most suitable for suburb driving and the sports mode and the early turbo kick-in is useful for overtakin...
Read moreg and to beat the red lights. Its a small car with enough power. I don't have long legs and the driver's seat can be adjusted so my right foot is never dangling or straining but lightly resting on the accelerator, feel comfortable with my buttock and under-thigh pressing evenly on the seat. I can't drive a car without back support and this one has manual adjustment. Radio reception is very good. The Sony player reads the cover picture of the CD or mp4 file and title of the song. It also plays my FLAC music through a thumb-drive, mobile phone and digital player. Sound quality after minor adjustment is fairly good. I like to be able to use any grade of petrol, and the once-a-year servicing at 15000kms helps, but running cost is subjective. Road noise is minimum with the fitted Michelin tyre. On smoother road it is very quiet because with windows up, the interior is almost free of outside noise driving around the suburb or even on a 70k highway. Visibility from inside is still good for a short person. Dashboard is large and deep, but all controls and knobs can be reached easily while driving. Lots of adjustment with the aircon and can be real cold.- 2 reviews
This car has served us well over the past 160k km. It's been regularly serviced and has been a pretty good runner with trips for 2 years to and from the airport almost daily and then 2 years to and from the city almost daily. It's accommodated family well, has a basic interior but is functional, easy to maintain and without any components breaking or malfunctioning internally.
After the 160k mark we have encountered a raft of electrical issues (lights malfunctioning), air conditioner issues (compressor died) and hoses, etc failing.

I brought my ford focus in 2007 brand new it was sitting on the lot but yes at the time I was looking at another car at that time I was looking at a Holden at the time cause I am a big holden fan I found the ford focus sitting on the lot and it just caught my eye. and friend of mine owned one of the previous models and yes I fell in love so I wen't to the car dealer to start the process by it end of the day I had the finance and started signing the contract I love my ford focus since having my car I have started spending money on it buy buying new alloy's beefing up the suspension tinting the windows and a lot more but no I would not update to the current model as the boot is smaller as well as the engine.

When buying this car make sure you check Transmission, Coolant leak inside the car on driver side and check if the alternator is over charging on the battery. lf you don't have any of these problems its a great car.
The biggest pro for this car its cheap on fuel.

We've had this car for a few years now. It's reliable and is easy to manoeuvre. The boot is surprisingly very spacious for a hatchback. We've looked at other cars and none of them have boots as spacious as the focus. Drives very smoothly too. We're planning to buy a newer version of the focus soon.

had purchased a 2014 Ford Focus and never knew that it has a huge transmission issue caused by the (TCM). Honestly, all I know is that, if a car has a problem, it shouldn’t be running. But in my case, I was looking for an affordable and reliable car, so I got my eye on focus.... So now that I ended up taking the car for the same problem, over 8 times, in a period of 18 months, the great news has to come from the service guy at Ford and that is, my car will always have the same issue cause Ford can’t find a solution for it, and even if they change the transmission, it will fail again and again and again! How nice is that! They forgot that there is something called the Lemon law.

I owned this car after buying it second hand. The aux port was inside the glove box for some strange reason which was not only impractical but difficult to plug in. The side skirting was cheap and easily came loose. Apart from that the fuel mileage was good but the suspension could have been better.

Perform stable and smooth with high speed especially on highway. Engine is quiet.
But the interiors are quite rough, some plastic part come out just after two month purchasing. Air con not very good as running slow.
Think about the safety, it’s quite reliable hatch car with around 20k price.

Love the look and feel of this car. wanted something that blended in with everyone but had just enough character to stand out. also love that it doesn't have too many gadgets but just enough to be modern. It's very responsive to the pedal, not the cheapest to run but compared to my 13 year old car it does the same fuel usage.

Dodgy transmission - Dodgy heater pipe in drivers compartment - terrible customer service
The automatic transmission is dodgy and their is huge class action launched. Please see attached link http://fordclassaction.com.au/
Because Ford have been dodgy when people have complained about the dodgy transmission, they are now being sued by the ACCC. Please see attached link.

On top of this they manufactured a dodgy heater pump running from the engine bay to the heater core within the drivers compartment. This pipe bursts often and s...
A spritely performer with well weighted controls and great steering feel. Quiet and comfortable cruising on the highway and still responsive enough to offer this old petrolhead some fun in the twisties.
No warranty issues at all after 28000km and fuel consumption typically between 6.0 to 7.5 litres / 100 km.
Sync 2 infotainment / nav superior to many much more expensive cars.
No complaints from me and no intention of trading up any time soon ... well done Ford.

I bought this car in 2016, 2 litre petrol version.
Since that time i have needed a number of repairs.
1. Transmission Control Module
2. Transmission Dual Clutch
3. Transmission Timing Cover
There seems to be a common theme here, all about the transmission? Ford don't seem to think so.

My Jan 2016 ford focus is a great little car, drives smoothly no issues so far great price at time, is the one without the trouble power shift. Good size small family car, good size boot compared to the little brother Fiesta.
Great inclusions with the trend, nav, reversing camera, but missed out on Apple car play by 6 months. But honeslty
not needed if you have nav included with blue tooth, as apple car play uses your data.
Please do passed bad reviews of powershift models scare you from non.

Unfortunately it has the turning circle of a luxury cruise liner, making tight car parks a nightmare. It's an ok drive if not a little bumpy, you'll definitely feel it on uneven roads and when highway diving you'll get a lot of noise leaking in. Fuel economy is ok as long as you're not using it in the city as a work car, constant traffic light stops will reduce efficiency. Very quick off the mark. Questionable audio jack and USB placement (back of the glove box). Don't hate it but wouldn't buy it again. Oh and a chunky middle section leaves long legged folks a little cramped for the sake of some ridiculous "holders".

I bought this focus second hand from a dealer. Ever since I came across these cars I just loved their colours and even the shape as well as the powder coated black mags. I had a budget of 18k and ended up breaking away from that because I had to get my dream car. Anyhow, it looks like a hot beast, has leather recaro seats with the colour contrast, that are extremely comfortable except when your a larger person and can't fit in them because they do hug you. I do know that if you're taller than 6ft 2 you do find it difficult to store your legs so...
Read moremewhere, however I'm 6 ft and fit comfortably. The back seats are built for children because even though they're comfortable you can't own long legs to fit. I get around 500k's per tank, however I don't drive slowly so it could go longer. The wheel lock for steering is probably the worst point. Even when you have it on a hard turn, it isn't very good, so if you have to park in little areas, you have to patiently move around a lot to finally get parked. It's a quiet car to drive, you can hear the turbo inside but from a bystanders point of view, you wouldn't know it had one. An improvement would be to get a louder exhaust system to make heads turn. The actual running cost, excluding petrol is about $600 a year in servicing. I've only had the starter motor jam once and it got over itself once I did a hill start. 2 things I will commend is its incredible sound system... it never peaks out and it's large boot -can pick up many cases from the airport. All in all, it's a great get around car and get away car.- 12 reviews

We bought the ford focus sport about a month ago as a second car for my wife to use for work - overall its a great little car
Great to drive handles well although a little sluggish if you dont use the gears - yes we bought a manual - coming from the UK where manual cars are the norm rather than the exception as here in Oz.
Interior and exterior are very good and the interior design and trim is excellent quality
As a little run around - its definitely work a look

So far the reliability has been good & its cheap too run but once the transmission starts to play up Ford cant fix so its a bad buy & your stuck with it, just join the class action against Ford & hope for the result to be in your favour cause no-one wants it as a trade in

After larger car, this ticks all the boxes especially for parking. Great for steering, vision and enough room in the boot.
Nice red colour, good to look at and quiet on the road. Plenty gadgets although we,re happy with CD slot, usually missing these days.
A good choice for us ’young pensioners’ to downsize.

I have owned my Ford Focus Sport (auto) since March and am impressed.
I have traveled 11000ks and so far no issues. The engine is very responsive and is mated to a 6 speed standard auto gearbox. . Interior is well designed with 8" display sync 3 which works seamlessly. Seats are also very comfortable. There are plenty of cars in this segment but I chose the ford for it's handling and styling. The car feels solid . No rattles or squeaks and runs on standard unleaded.
If your looking for a small hatch you might want to consider the Focus . It is fun to drive.

Ford focus 5 door hatch, 2.0L engine, 5 speed manual, nice car to drive handles nice, fuel economy is great, the down side is parts are way over the top, ford has priced parts so high its there way of getting owners into ford dealers to get them to do the work this way they keep getting our hard earned cash over & over again. Spark plugs range from 4 × $27.50 each $100 plus, air filter $30 plus, Driver side wiper blade $27 passenger side $27, rear hatch window $27 3 × $81!! Absolutely madness & that's not counting oil filter, cabin filter, mot...
Read moreor oil, coolant ect, its a shame because I found ford focus a really nice car in just about every other area, but car company's finding it harder to sell there product and even before they started doing it a bit harder they just wanted to keep us coming into there yards & given us no other option but to get them to do the work on our cars and they keep getting more & more of our hard earned.- 7 reviews

I love my ford focus, it is so easy to drive and has all the gadgets you need to get into those tricky places :) The fuel consumption is amazing at only $50 a tank about 90% of the time and never goes over $55 to fill up. I have a turbo diesel version and love it. Very roomy and spacious for a hatchback. Never had a problem with it and only pay for the service itself. In love and will keep it for a long time. Would be great for learners and provisional drivers also.

Im still in P1. This car is really good. It's the ideal car for the one who like speed and the sound of engine. The smell is kinda weird inside but not too much. The design of AUX jack and USB's place are also weird. They took me so long to find. This car is really fuel efficient. Highly recommended

Got my ford focus at the beginning of the year been great there is heaps of legroom
great glovebox but poorly designed bonnet when you hit the bonnet not very hard the bonnet locks so you can't unlock it
the noise is a bit noisy but you get over it in awhile
Dangerous driving experience.
Spacious front, very little space at the back.
Not reliable at all might be a death trap.
Power steering locks while driving and could possibly be a death trap to you and family.
Ford will not take responsibility in fixing the issue or recall these models, they have advised owners to fork the money to fix the issues and will not guarantee that the power steering fault issues will be fixed in the future.
