Awesome Car
I have been so lucky I've had the car only for three weeks and have encountered zero problems.
I have the base model, the drive is smooth and quiet and the finish of the car is all quality. The comfort level is outstanding... Compared to my other cars. Fuel is great 7.3/100.
Other all Im very happy..

Cheap ford substandard customer service.
We just had a service, tried to get the inbuilt GPS maps updated. It turns out that is not included, if you want to update the GPS you have to go on to the ford web site and buy a new SD card for $200 with no updates included. So if you want to stay up to date you have to spend $200 each year. This stinks! You can go to Jb HiFi and get a unit with life time updates.

Disappointing Ford focus
I bought new a 2013 ford focus. Was good getting the transmission recall done under warranty in 2016 but the car also needed the main seal replaced. We went through 3 sets of rear tyres to one front set and was puzzled as to why this was happening. 2yrs on now in 2018 and the shutter is back in the transmission so fortunately this was fixed under warranty (within 14,000km of expiry) and once again the main seal was leaking and we had to pay to replace it. A week after this was done the steering assist malfunction light comes on as i start my car. I was unable to drive the car and had it towed..its now costing me thousands to replace the steering rack..just unacceptable from a 5yr old car at 140,000km. Disappointing.

Most annoying pile of you know what
The first time I drove this car after I paid for it I turned on the indicators and the wipers came on. Have had it now for 6 months and still can't get used to this. And then make the same mistakes with my "normal" car with it's blinkers being on the "normal" side. This car and others like it should not be allowed to be this way in our country. Another thing that irks me about this car if you want to flash you indicator once or twice, forget it!!! This car flashes them for at least 5 seconds by default even when not needed. It also makes the in...Read more
terior light come on by default when you switch the car off and it stays on for a good 30 seconds whether you want it to or not. Revealing your face to the whole outside world the moment you pull up. Forget any idea of doing any surveillance with this bomb. It takes only premium oil 5W30 expensive every time you change it and the filter is just as costly. The brakes on these same as Mercedes. The pad only covers the middle of the rotor so it wears a track right in the centre of the rotor leaving a lip on the rotor and it needs to be replace whenever you have to change your pads. The clutch is pretty much the same on a manual so after the car gets about 80000 ks on it the clutch will be weaker for the next 80000 and will slip when you need to get away from the lights at speed. Then there is that annoying chime when you immediately don't put your seatbelt and you turn the key letting your neighbours know that you are off to work at 4am. How annoying at such an hour. Oh but there is an upside to this car. It does have rather a nice sounding stereo and good aircon. Feul economy is not that great at around 7.5 on average for 100km highway and up to 10 litres to 100 around the city and performance compared to some Korean models 1.6 engines can run rings around this Focus 1.8. But the focus feels a bit quieter and more modern. All in all it's just a work car. But maintenance cost can be skyhigh in comparison to other models

Worst car out there
Worst vehicle I’ve ever owned.
I’ve had 3 ford cars.
Now I’m gonna sell it at another dealership and buy a completely new car. I’m glad they got fined 10 million dollars. They should have been fined more!
Worst customer service error given.
First was the 2014 Ford Fiesta which had a serious transmission problem. I had to discuss this to my parents for months to years and a bit before they listed to me about the problem. I went to ford multiple times. All the times they said it was fine nothing wrong with it. After more complaints th...Read more
ey did a software update, which fixed it for 1-2 weeks than they did clutch replacement which solved it for 6-8 weeks before the problem came back. Than back to a software update where they left it there cause they couldn’t do anything anymore. I was stuck with it until 2015 late where they only offered a upgrade of $10,000. I got into a 2015 Ford Focus in December 2015 but didn’t get it until January 2016. I ended up paying $12,500 on the upgrade. They ripped me off $2,500. Than I drove the car for nearly 10,000km where I noticed the problem starting and didn’t want to go through with it again with Ford. But I had too. I sold it though ford and they gave me $20,500 back but told me I had to buy another one of there’s. I than got the 2016 Ford Focus model cause they said it didn’t have the dual clutch problem but a 6 speed auto and rated 5 stars. I had to pay $22,951.00. The car was fine for the first 15,000km but than I noticed something not quite right with it. I continued driving until 25,000km where I noticed the jerking started. At 30,000km I made my first complaint to the dealer and they did the service and the software update. After the update the problem became more frequent and now at 37,000km i now have to get it looked at again and checked to see how serious the jerking is and if it needs the clutch replaced. I’ve just done it today and now have to wait another 2 weeks while the car adepts up to your driving style.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Faults
I have had my Ford Focus sport for 5 years now bought it from new and about a year or 2 ago I had problems with the clutch shuttering I took it back a few times and they just blamed it on my driving. Wouldn’t look at it or fix it. Now I had to replace my heating core in it which they quoted me $2,200 to fix and wouldn’t come to the party to pay for half as I only had an extended warranty which didn’t cover it. As a loyal member and customer I find this disgusting of ford to treat there customers like this. It is another obvious fault in the For...Read more
d Focus they would not admit to. I took it somewhere else and cheaper to get fixed and they said they have had heaps of them in getting the heating core fixed. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to buy a ford ever.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Used to have a ford focus
The potential to be a great car, but it is not. Faulty transmission that has a 4-5 second delay on acceleration, very dangerous An intermittent fault in the cruise control, also very dangerous, and the noisiest car I have even driven.on non skid surfaces. Trade in value? Informed people do not want them. The Ford dealership did not acknowledge there were any faults. I offered the manager my car for a week to drive his wife and kids around in, he declined the offer. No more Fords for me.

Great little car
Great little car for basic running around. Packed full of features. Lots of boot space for its size. Feels more like a larger sedan to drive but has the convenience of being a small car for city parking. Loads of tech so its full of features and feels more like a premium vehicle than a small run about

uppose to have rights when they knowingly sell you a faulty product that cant ever be fixed for any decent amount of time but big ol Ford Australia doesn't care that's why they got slapped on the wrist with a $10mil fine but they still don't care. If you a poor owner like me stuck with a faulty car they sold you knowing the issues couldnt be fix then jump on facebook and search Fix my focus, fesitva and ecosport. These issues where knowing but ford years before i brought my car but they sold my car (2015 LM Mk2) to me in Jan 2016 and never disclosed the issues to me. Terrible DSG auto gearbox and other problems
Awful DSG auto gearbox - shuddered and hesitated when you most needed it. Dealer just fobbed off my complaints - blamed my driving style. Claimed to fix the problem every time I took the car in but nothing changed. Had to replace brake disks after only three years. Brake pads wore through in record time. No longer have any trust or faith in Ford. Will never buy another Ford.

Heaps of Tiny little issues that just scream imperfection and 1 Big issue
Background - 2008 Ford Focus CL LS, bought brand new.
Positives - Nimble, Small, quit quick.
Negatives - Interior has started to fall apart. Mirror is rusting around the edges, back of rear seat glue has separated, gear knob broke, gear sleave broke, radio plug keeps falling off, heater core went just before the 3 year warranty finished. Air box filter screws broke the plastic, light bulbs keep blowing, plastic under radiator fell off on highway, paint has started pealing on the roof, top engine mount has been replaced twice other wise there is a horrible rattle and shake.
Options I should have gotten was cruise control instead we got paint protection which had a lifetime warranty that they don't honour.

Excellent handling
We have 2013 auto turbo diesel S.
Great pulling power when turbo kicks in. Around 6.5 Lts per 100 km. Very economical. We can drive from Sydney to the Gold Coast on a tank.
Front seats have great support. Driving position is totally adjustable to suit any body shape. We have silver paint and car looks great. I replaced Michelin tyres with same, not great mileage, but excellent braking and handling. 60k service just completed. It was having transmission vibration issues with rough changes. 60k transmission oil and filter replaced and now drives like new again. Don’t go longer than 4 years or 60k to change trans oil or you will have same problem.
All in all, we are very Happy with equipment level and value.

Ok
Brought privately (mistake) has 26,000 on odometer and it started shuddering upon acceleration . Took it to nova ford and they found someone had not put the could connections back in their correct place . No problems since but after reading all the bad reviews for this car I will sell it as I have no confidence in it . The ford fixed to the tcm and clutch material will probably be sufficient but would rather get rid of it .

Very good second hand car
The driving experience is very good. Handles surprisingly well for a ten year old car. Can be a bit loud while driving but that is to be expected.
My model is the ghia which has leather seats which are great but suffers a bit in the heat. The aux is in the dash which is a bit awkward as well
Currently costing around 100 dollars of 98 fuel a month, half yearly service just under 300 dollars and registration renewal which 600 dollars.

Could be better
a solid car mechanically, just need to be careful of paint peeling on plastic parts of the chasis. This can end uo costing you a bit in cosmetic repairs, but wont stop you from getting from a to b. Fuel efficiency is pretty good across long drives but drops significantly in suburban traffic.

Good car - still few to improve.
Fuel consumption is O.K considering the 2.0L engine. Car boot size is average. People sitting in rear seats will suffer a little bit because of the small room for legs. Side mirrors don't give the best vision angle. Car speed and acceleration is great. Brakes are fine. All options are handy: cruise control, Bluetooth, Phone keypad, information screen and multifunction wheel. Front seats are great and far better than the rear ones. AC is powerful.

Great car
The focus provides a reliable and decent driving experience. Runs fairly quietly, although there are some issues with clunky gear changes in the transmission which is a known fault in this model. Great on fuel Approx 15L/100k. Great boot space for a small sedan. Interior is pleasantly furnished and dashboard easy to read and access

Was great car until.......it wasn't!
I bought this 2012 Ford Focus Titanium LW Mk2 as a new car. I loved this car and it ran perfectly UNTIL around the 12 month mark. I then had ongoing issues with the clutch and transmission. My local ford dealership were great to work with but unless the car showed an error (in computer systems) or playing up whilst with them, they were at a loss. I ended up videotaping the final issue as evidence of the shuddering, gear change hesitations and over-revving, nose-diving and general noise. I had some big repairs completed over the nearly 5 yrs I ...Read more
owned it with the final being the replacement of the TCM. I was reassured that all the problems were fixed however I had lost faith in the car and was stressed when driving it. I have just traded the car and hope that it was fixed so the next owner doesn't have issues. The car only had 54,000 km when traded and should have still been like a new car. This car was brilliant when running properly however after the stresses over the years I would never recommend buying a Ford to anyone and neither would I ever ever EVER buy another Ford vehicle!Similar opinion? Relaxing Driving Experience
The 2016 Ford Focus got back into my list because its not using the Power Shift anymore. I also like this car for the following reasons. Others may differ.
After test driving a few cars, this is the one that I can really sit back and feel relax while driving. This is how I like to drive the car, though occasionally I am able to have some fun driving it differently. The 132-kilowatter Focus LZ sport is quite zippy for me. I find this car most suitable for suburb driving and the sports mode and the early turbo kick-in is useful for overtakin...Read more
g and to beat the red lights. Its a small car with enough power. I don't have long legs and the driver's seat can be adjusted so my right foot is never dangling or straining but lightly resting on the accelerator, feel comfortable with my buttock and under-thigh pressing evenly on the seat. I can't drive a car without back support and this one has manual adjustment. Radio reception is very good. The Sony player reads the cover picture of the CD or mp4 file and title of the song. It also plays my FLAC music through a thumb-drive, mobile phone and digital player. Sound quality after minor adjustment is fairly good. I like to be able to use any grade of petrol, and the once-a-year servicing at 15000kms helps, but running cost is subjective. Road noise is minimum with the fitted Michelin tyre. On smoother road it is very quiet because with windows up, the interior is almost free of outside noise driving around the suburb or even on a 70k highway. Visibility from inside is still good for a short person. Dashboard is large and deep, but all controls and knobs can be reached easily while driving. Lots of adjustment with the aircon and can be real cold.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good...to a point
This car has served us well over the past 160k km. It's been regularly serviced and has been a pretty good runner with trips for 2 years to and from the airport almost daily and then 2 years to and from the city almost daily. It's accommodated family well, has a basic interior but is functional, easy to maintain and without any components breaking or malfunctioning internally.
After the 160k mark we have encountered a raft of electrical issues (lights malfunctioning), air conditioner issues (compressor died) and hoses, etc failing.

Good day. My headlights dont want to go on . High beam and parks are fine. Fuze inside is also fine .Where is the relay for the headlights? Ford focus mk3
1 answer
Theo, I think you'd best find a reliable auto electrician. It will probably save you a lot of time and frustration. Your local Ford dealer might be worth a quote, and remember you don't need to have it fixed there if it will be too expensive. Sorry I can't help more.

I have just purchased a2018 Focus sport with only 3200kms on the clock 2 days ago. Today i took it for about 1 hours drive today and every time I applied the brakes from about 70kms per hour i could hear a noise coming from either the tyres and or the brakes .Its a hard noise to explain, i suppose it sounds like the brakes are grating with no vibration felt .The noise can even be heard over the sound system. Can someone enlighten me of the problem if possible.

Hi Sorry have not ever had this problem. I run my tyres on 32, don't know if that makes a difference. But it begs the question how did you get a 2018 model with only 3200kms? I run my car mostly on 70/80/100 km speed limit roads and have never experienced this in 2 yrs.
Hi Andrew. I understand your situation, as I Once bought a second hand lemon Tarago ( usually reliable) for our growing family. Anyway, my Focus sedan (not a sport hatch like yours) hasn’t displayed your problem over the city or country (up to 110km/h) roads. If you’ve taken it off sealed roads you might have grit in your brakes, but this should disappear. Perhaps extreme braking at high speeds could bind this grit to the discs or pads? If the 3,200 km was extreme driving, the discs and/or brake pads could be worn already. Did you thoroughly check the history of this car before purchase? Could it have been rebuilt from wrecks at a chop shop? Has it had a front end crash, either front on or side on? Have suspension and brake components been built up using incorrect parts? Get your car checked by your RAC in your state (the usual pre-purchase test) if you didn’t do it pre-purchase, as it’s worth the money. Find a reliable front end specialist - it costs nothing for an inspection. A good Ford dealer like my local Etheridge Ford in Ringwood has mechanics that are experts (don’t be shy of a dealer, they know their cars) and could answer the above questions. I think this is actually the place to start, and could save you heaps of money. I hope you get this solved. I’m interested to hear the result.

I have a ford focus 2006, it was revving high and on it's own too, I had a scan put on it and it said throttle body so I purchased a new one and had it put on and hasn't solved anything it's still revving like crazy off n on by it's self ???
1 answer
I'm definitely not a mechanic, but my Mark II Focus (2.0l) experienced all manner of shenanigans (extremely irregular idling, etc) due to a vacuum leak from a broken hose.
A leak after the throttle body would result in abnormally high idle, but the engine can also get very confused if the leak is after the sensor that measures air quantity. Trick will be to identify which hose is the culprit. If you're unlucky it's a hose behind the intake manifold. You might need a smoke machine...
