I am a foundation member and have loved going to this club. Although I now know that they don't care about the people as much as their business. I was encouraged to upgrade my membership to try out the Reformer Pilates and was promised that I could downgrade to my old rate at anytime. So I upgraded and then a month later realised it wasn't for me and requested to downgrade. They downgraded me to my old rate and also added an additional quarterly PT training fee!!!!! When I asked for it to be removed as I will never use it, they said that I ...
Read moreshould have been charged this when I signed up 4 years ago....which is not my issue. I was never aware of this fee and they have refused to remove it even though I know plenty of foundation members who are not charged this fee. This is poor customer service and I am now looking for a new gym. It's a sad way to end a very long relationship.

I have been a member in good standing for since Feb 2020. When I joined Goodlife in Mount Lawley, I was told that the pool was being repaired and opened within the next 2 months. It is nearly the end of the year and the pool has not been worked on since I have joined.
My sole reason for joining Goodlife is that this location had a pool. If I would not known this was not going to be an option, I would have not chosen this location. While there is a pool at the location in Bibra Lake, I shouldn't have to drive nearly 30 minutes away to that l...
Read moreocation. This location has a host of other issues as the lockers and showers are dirty (The Cotteloe location has clean and well maintained lockers/showers) The equipment is need of repair and a clip for the cable machine was missing for at least 2 months (10 dollar part). The dumbbells are locked (37.5kg and higher) after staff hours due to noise complaints. As a member, we are entitled to a clean club and access to the working equipment. I'm very disappointed with Goodlife and can't recommend the gym to any one until this facility is improved. Be aware of joining at this location. The staff is friendly but it seems that head office is not giving them the necessary support to make this a quality health club.- Value for Money

Went to this gym after discussing with the staff that I was looking for hip-hop classes. They were very helpful and showed me their classes and indeed provided a great hip-hop class. I absolutely loved it. I signed the contract telling them this was the only reason I wanted access to their gym. They told me that classes will always be available to me under my contract. After the covid shut down they had started up all the classes again But the one I had attended. I called and they told me they would let me know when my class started again... 2 ...
Read moremonths later and (with me still having to pay for a membership under contract on a weekly basis) they hadn't called back so inquired. They were not bringing back the class and told me I could A cancel my contract for a large sum of money, or continue to pay for a service the company no longer provides for another 7 months. I paid the large sum as it would ultimately be cheaper in the long run. I'm very disappointed, it cost a lot for the membership and a lot to cancel it. All because the service I gained when I signed the contract was no longer there 5 months later. I get covid stuffed things up, but they should have had the decency to tell me they weren't bringing it back instead of me paying for this sorry excuse of a gym for another 8 weeks. Disappointed, and upset... don't waste your money on a company that doesn't give a care for its clients.

Contrary to Consumer Affairs Victoria guidance, this gym adds a 30 day cancellation policy to their month to month membership - adding an additional month of fees to the agreement. Be aware that any agreement you make with them, will add an additional month of costs beyond the agreed contract.

Read your contract carefully! "where applicable" to Goodlife means "compulsory"
Beware of contract wording.
Although I am happy with my local Goodlife I have an issue with a component of my membership. When I joined, I was advised the details of the membership fees, and offered “quarterly coaching @ $9.99” I specifically declined this offer as I do not need it. (PS: what quality coaching would you get for $9.99 per quarter anyway?)
When I received the paperwork from Debit Success there was a $9.99 quarterly fee included. I contacted my local Goodlife and was advised that this fee is compulsory, contrary to what I was to...
Read moreld when I joined and in conflict to contract wording which states: “Quarterly Coaching (where applicable) $9.99/13 wks”. What part of "where applicable" translates to "compulsory"? The wording on the contract is misleading and deceptive. Very poor form Goodlife. I would rather give that $9.99/13 weeks to charity than Goodlife!- Value for Money

Make sure you read the contract details carefully before the 7 day grace period is over. Even for monthly renewals 28 days notice must be given which means that if you join and decide for whatever reason that it is not for you then you must cancel your membership straight away otherwise you will be debited for another month. Ridiculous. In other words very expensive (for a membership that is already expensive + $AU99 joining fee)
I discussed my case with the manager but I received little sympathy. have stated my intent to cancel and also that I was very unhappy.

Attended for the 5 day free trial. Doesn't seem you can get past the sales staff. So after 30 minutes of ear bashing I signed up. Rate is 30% more than what was advertised online when you add the hidden fee. Was given access cards, which I was told would be working from 4am the next morning, and went in to try out the equipment. Found only one leg extension machine, which had a Do not Use sign, went to use treadmills and found two that don't work. Left after getting a bike to work and decided would duck into another gym in the morning. Attended...
Read more the next day to find I couldn't get in. Called Goodlife to be told card might work later today if not after the long weekend (so I guess 5 days free trial is gone ?) Contract received via email with a very basic maths mistake (of course, in their favour) tried to email it back but doesn't respond. Sent online request for an email address and have not heard back after 4 hours, when I had emails, calls and text within minutes of wanting to join hassling me for a day and time I'd be in there. Luckily I'm not interested in good service, I just want a gym. But so far I've not experienced either. Fingers crossed things improve.- Value for Money

The music is so bad. Who says everyone I speak to. If you must play the music you are required to play can you please turn down the volume so I can't hear it through my headphones. Also whose bright idea was it to change the timer of the sauna to 8am when I want to use it at 5.30am and there is staff on from 5am. Please sort it. Otherwise not a bad club. Cheers.

I signed a year long contract that waived the new joiner fee- there was a schedule of fees I signed... then when I wanted to cancel a few months in there were fees charged I didn’t sign! Then also re-started debting my card after we put it on hold- without telling me! Then charged me a late fee for 3 weeks in a row before contacting me and telling me about it (credit card has been stolen).
And the self righteous attitude when I clearly stated and showed I did not sign up to the fees I was being charged... just avoid this organisation.

I joined my local Goodlife gym back in April on an 18 month contract. It took until earlier this month for one of the women in reception to inform me that I need an access tag to be scanned before each workout. I was very surprised! How did I get in the particular workout days before that date?? Also I was advised by the manager (!) that if I wanted a 24 hour access pass I would have to pay a one off fee for this key. Yesterday I spoke to a NEW guy and he said that I should have got this pass when I joined. He checked and confirmed this with on...
Read moree of his superiors. The lack of communication and confusion in this gym is staggering and irritating at the same time. The gym itself is pretty good but Some of the machines need repairs for smaller weights in between larger weight iron bars. The gym instructor was particularly helpful in tailoring a weight training program for me. ’m gonna stick through this contract to avoid penalty fees but some of the staff here need to lift their game! The gym isn't bad. Staff has a horrible attitude towards potential members. They give you a 5 day free pass but that comes to a high price as they ring/txt you every day to organise an appointment with you.
We went there to use our free pass and they wanted to hold on to our DLs to make sure we would see a sales person before leaving the gym after the work out.
I told the guy we wouldn't escape. We'd come to the desk but he said he had to hold on to our DLs.
Honestly!!!!! Felt like I was a criminal trying to do something wrong.
Come on!! I just told the guy that was unbelievable! !! ZERO FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Since Goodlife has taken over this gym which was once recreation, management have let it go down hill. Taps in ladies toilet don’t work, treadmills not working or tv screens not working on them. When gym instructors call in sick not replacing them or if replacing them they change the class. Timetable on their website has not been updated for weeks.

Fine during the day but an utter nightmare after 5pm. Way too many members. I spend half my precious training time queuing.
They will do whatever they can to convince you not to cancel your membership
I have been asking the club to cancel my membership due to pregnancy reasons and other issues. I explained them multiple times that I CANNOT attend the gym classes etc and that I just wanted to cancel my membership. They always politely pushed me to continue with them and instead of cancellation just suspend it. Note that suspending the membership will cost you a minimum fee of $??. Eventually today I had to force the club to cancel it. I said there is no way that i can come to the gym. Very dissatisfied over Goodlife's membership cancellation process and its customer service.

Can I ask which Goodlife Health clubs in Perth WA have a swimming pool ??
My home club is in Bibra Lake which has a pool. I have just upgraded my membership to be able to use all the Goodlife gyms in Perth..
Bibra Lake Pool is great but has been out of action for months and the LIES about repairs are laughable. Ring and ask about pool!
Why do you think it is ok to charge members for kick starter packs, 8 week challenges and quarterly coaching yet the trainer does these UNPAID?
This seems very dodgy. None of the crap they are leads to the trainer or business building hours you are profiting extra on top of membership and rent charge to trainers as well
Are members aware that the trainers pay rent to the gym to work there? They aren't employees even though they are wearing a goodlife top. They are paying a $1600 contract then from 3 months onwards $300 plus a week rent to work there. Kick starter packs or jump start packs which the gym charges the member are done by the trainer as unpaid sessions. The 8 or 12 week challenge which the gym charge members the trainer does unpaid. Quarterly coaching which some members receive again is done by the trainer for free. This gym franchise is using trainers as unpaid labour and dodgy employee entitlements.
Bit late but it's standard to charge rent to trainers. Trainers can work for salary but it tends to be better to just pay rent and collect all your earnings yourself. Goodlife has one of the highest r...
Read moreents, but they also have some of the best PT support networks like lead generation lists and business training seminars for their PTs. And all these challenges and quarterly sessions etc, unpaid as they may be, get a potential client in front of a PT for them to attempt to convert into a long term client. Getting clients in front of the PT is the most surefire way of getting ongoing clients.
