Great Digital Photo Frame
I have hundreds of photos on Google Photos and it's great to have them displayed on the Home Hub. It has a good quality speaker which is plenty loud to fill a living room. It functions OK as a smart assistant.

Does exactly what it says it will do on the box
This is not the loudest smart speaker, nor does it have the largest screen, but at its price point it is just right. You can pay more if you want louder or larger, but for me it is not too large to be obnoxious whilst still being large enough to read without glasses. As for audio volume, well I have an audio system for that - this is just for issuing instructions / asking questions to.
Some reviews have indicated that the WiFi capability of this device is lacking, but I have never experienced that.
One problem that I do agree with is that the...Read more
wall plug for 240v to 5v micro USB cable is too large to fit in between other plugs. I solved the problem by using a different adapter / cable - it works, but would be better if the consumer didn't have to solve these sort of simple problems that the manufacturer imposed upon us. The display is clear, 1024 x 600, bright enough for reading / watching in the middle of the day, can easily watch YouTube / surveillance camera / calendar / shopping list / timer / alarm / smart lights ect. The microphone can easily pick up everybody's voice, from anywhere in the Kitchen / Family Room area. I have had this for a little over a year now (Christmas 2018), and there have been 0 issues with it. No mechanical / electrical / electronic problems at all.Purchased in December 2021 at Harvey Norman for $199.00.

Works great...shame plug doesnt fit AU wall socket
Responds quickly to voice commands.
Excellent photo frame and Google photo integration.
Pairs with bluetooth speakers.
Would give 5 stars if the wall plug fitted properly in a twin wall socket. Whoever designed the plug didnt do proper research. Epic fail.

Good potential but not there yet
The idea is good, the implementation not really.
For instance, it automatically detected my 2 Android Smart TVs but it cannot manage them. I have researched the issue and discovered that TV management was working fine until the latest Android update. The update was released months ago and the issue has not been fixed yet.
Also, since Android is Google, I believe they should test their own products compatibility and interoperability a little bit better before releasing them to the public.

a Genio it does not automatically appear. You have to unlink Mirabella Genio and re-link it in order for the new device to appear and be manageable via Google Hub. I tried to contact technical support for assistance with a few other things but they never replied to me. The only way I was able to get some assistance was via the user forum. Google is obviously not putting enough effort in developing and maintaining this product.Purchased in September 2021 at JB Hi-Fi for $139.00.

Love it !
I have only had the Google Home Hub for a few days, but I am loving it so far.
I have synced my LIFX lights and can turn them on and off by voice command from my lounge room where the hub is situated.
I can easily get the weather forecast just by talking to it. I no longer need to pick up a device and search, Google Home Hub does this for me.
So for the Google Home Hub is a winner for me !

I was left feeling like I would have happily paid more for some better thought out features
An attractive looking device with a nice screen. Where it falls short are its missing some features that would really make it useful eg (1) It has no battery backup at all, If you happen to need to move it even a short distance it powers off until you plug it in again. Same in a black out (2) There is no native search engine. Oddly you cant directly access Google even though its a Google device. You can however say 'Hey Google, what is .... ' and it will open a relevant Wikipedia page on that topic. You can then click on the links in ...Read more
that Wikipedia entry to get to related web pages (3) For most things you have to use voice commands. You cant type a short command on the touch screen. In a shared family environment there are times when you might not want to talk out loud to the hub (eg someone sleeping in the same room, others in mid conversation)....but then maybe I am expecting too much for something that only costs $147Purchased in July 2021 at Officeworks for $147.00.

Limited use. Don't use for appointments
This is an oh so sexy piece of technology. However, it's uses are very limited in my view. Sure, it can do a lot of things, but if you want just want something simple, you might be very disappointed.
In my case, I just wanted it to show upcoming appointments for my stepfather who is 88 to help him easily keep track of things. While it does have a function to do that, you have to dig deep. to enable it.
It is useless for the elderly who have trouble coming to grips with the smart technology of today.
In all honesty, how hard would it be to...Read more
provide a customization option that allows you to choose what is shown on screen? It also is fully voice activated, so touching the screen will not always give you what you want. It will actually ask you to ask it instead. Great of us, but not so great for those who have alzheimer's and may not remember things.Purchased in April 2021 at Catch for $158.00.

Makes life so much easier
I primarily use it to control my smart home products (which are increasing by the day). Performance and reliability are excellent. Google AI and continued conversation are what make it much better than other smart home ecosystems. Addition of screen makes it much easier to see what Google understood. Without the screen, it could sometimes be frustrating, but not anymore.
Screen also works as an excellent photo frame and a bed side clock when needed.
Only downside is, it is making me even lazier, now I want everything to be done by voice.
Purchased in January 2021 for $178.00.

I love it
Google Home is great when you have smart home automation in mind. I can control my lights and TV just by my voice, screen quality is good enough for displaying photos or youtube videos. My favourite is at night when it is black in the room, the google home only displays a large time which does not create much light but allows me to know the time. A secret feature many will love

Good Product Room for Improvement
The ideas are good and basic commands work Ok. Just had a missing appointment no announcement "stating no appointments today" and there is the appointment in google calendar.
Works well with my wireless powerpoints and will accept commands from a reasonable distance. TV can make a difference. Also sometimes answers a command not issued to it out of the blue. Started music without any command. I would expect Google to fix in the upcoming updates. If you only have basic command it a great idea, but dont expect it work with everything or answer your questions without issues sometimes.
Once again something introduced without fully testing a standard approach with IT.
