I have a XW 20 Holman retractable hose reel, the lock stopped working today, it has a date 17/46 can I take it for a replacement, it was a gift from my son and I don't have the receipt, assuming the adding of 6 months to the manufacture date can it return it to Bunnings for a replacement? Without being able to lock it is useless.

Read moret to ACCC that the unit is not “fit for purpose”. Which I did. I also informed Bunnings. I immediately got response both from Bunnings and Holman and received a full refund.
Hi, 17/46 is the number under my lid. The guide basically lost all tension after the unit kept bunching to one side and now when it reels back in I have to move it from side to side manually to try and mimic the layering action. Of course, the last few metres never goes back in.
I’m looking for the receipt as we speak, but wouldn’t think it would be more than 18 months old. Love the concept, but should have known nothing is made to last anymore. Back to the old wheel rim if the $140 gizmo can’t be fixed... cheers Yonny.

Like so many others here, my Holman 20m retractable hose has stopped locking. I cannot find my receipt (purchased from Bunnings), batch number XW20 PP 17/27. Not sure if it is still under warranty. if not it should be covered under Australian Consumer Law, shouldn't it? There are a couple of areas.
1) A purchased item has a major problem when it: is substantially unfit for its common purpose and can’t easily be fixed within a reasonable time. Holman have responded to a number of people saying the locking function cannot be replaced or repaired.
2) Suppliers and manufacturers guarantee that goods are of acceptable quality when sold to a consumer. This includes durability! There is a consumer expectation that the retractable hose will function fora reasonable time after purchase, a period longer than the 2 year warranty.

Hello.
I have had my holman retractable hose for about 2 years. Great purchase.
However, just recently the little wheel spinner that moves from side to side to guide the hose in when it retracts has stopped moving, therefore all the hose is bunching up on one side.
Just wondering is there an easy way to fix it??

I would suggest that you contact them direct and ask for a fix
Open the inspection cover on top lever the white sliding piece out or cut it out remove off hose as well Cut it off .... when retracting just move hose left to right
A bit late but after opening the access panel have a look at the small drive belt. It may have just slipped of the cog in which case its an easy fix.
Do I turn ON the tap before I pull the hose out to use?
I have read that I must turn off the tap and release the pressure before I rewind it. Manual does not answer my question.

Read morepring under significant tension. Be aware that the retract spring has explosive kinetic energy stored in this state. When the hose is cut off the spring will release suddenly. To avoid serious injury hands, fingers and eyes should not be near the spring in its wound up state and particularly when the the hose is cut off.Hello Ray, we suggest, if you are going to do this, to secure the drum. At the end of 2017 early 2018 our 20 townhouse complex each had a new 30m retractable hose installed. I have never used the hose beyond the 7m x 7m courtyard but two days ago I pulled it out 20 metres to the driveway to wash down a car covered in ash. Tried to put the hose back but it will not retract more than 5m of hose leaving 10 - 15 metres of hose out. Is there anyway to fix this? Look inside cover and xaw 17/31 XW30. Unable to get purchase details from the previous Strata Manager but it was a group buy. Can you advise if this is still under warranty or how I can fix it. Thanks Chris
Sometimes, as with all hose or cord rewinds, pull it all the way out and then slowly let it feed back in. This should rectify the problem
Hello CC. If your retractable is not performing correctly and it is under warranty ( which the batch number does indicate) the process is to return it to Bunnings with your proof of purchase and it will be replaced for you.
I purchased 20m and 30m Holman reels November last year from Bunnings (still looking for receipt). The 20m unit has stopped retracting... well it makes about 3 turns and then runs out of 'puff'. The 30m reel still working fine. Anything I can do to fix it? From your FAQ page it seems the warranty has only just expired.
Hello Mark, if this was purchased November 2018. it will be under warranty, you will need your docket to return it to Bunnings for an exchange.

Q : Can you extend the distance from the source tap to the reel slightly longer than the 2M suggested, or will this extension of only about 1/2 of one metre extra hose between the reel and the source tap effect the water flow?

Sorry unfortunately i can't answer that question as I've never had to extend the length of the source hose. To make sure i would contact Holman they may be able to help you.

Hello DKC, please use hose connectors and a coupling to attach a longer hose to the tap to reel connector.
I have read a lot of these reviews/questions and I too have the same problem being that the hose keeps retracting and not locking into place. Mine was a gift so I dont have a receipt

If you have your receipt for this unit and it was purchased less than 2-year ago, then it will be under warranty. Going on the batch number it is unfortunately no longer covered by that warranty.
