Vacuum Cleaners Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of vacuum cleaner would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
I love this vacuum, but just one thing....
I bought this vacuum recently and love how easy it is to use! I can clean my whole house in 10 minutes without having to plug and replug a chord into all the powerpoints. It picks up everything and is great. However, one thing I'm struggling with is the release button to empty the dust cup. I cannot for the life of me get it open! I've tried everything including putting all my weight on top of it to try and get it open but it won't budge. Any suggestions? I really need to empty its contents but simply can't!!

Best thing ever.
The unit was purchased for the wife's hairdressing salon and she says it is the best so far. Tiles, carpet or vinyl are no problem. Excellent suction as hair is a pain to get off the floor but not to this one. Easy to clean!! Thanks to Godfrey's for the sale price.

Just too wonderful for words
Very happy with suction power. Light in weight and easy to use without electrical cords being in the way. Ceramic tiles in living areas and 4 bedrooms carpets. Easy and quick to empty the dirt collector compartment and easy and very handy to remove yhe handheld vacuum to clean the window areas and car interior. Cannot do without it.

Find out how Hoover Heritage 5210 compares to other Stick Vacuum Cleaners

Wow, I love it.
I waited for a sale at godfreys and paid only $99 for this vacuum. We just moved into a house with lots of floor tiles and had been using my Oates swiffer but felt dirt was getting trapped in the grout. The Hoover Heritage picks up everything and takes no longer to use plus there is no pile of dust in the corner to clean up afterwards. I have a 15 year old Dyson i use for the carpets. The Hoover picks up dirt right up against the skirting boards and things my Dyson would struggle with sometimes - you can run over a smartie dozens of times and i...Read more
t still wont suck it up! Its still early days but i love it and so do the kids. It claims to only have 20 mins of battery power but that suits me fine as I want to be able to do quick clean ups every other day and dont want to be spending more than 20 mins anyway. The dust reserviour is only small but i empty it after each clean. It's fun to see how much dirt i have picked up. I havent yet used this on furniture yet but that's not what i bought it for. I would probably use my dyson for those jobs. I would buy this again in a few years if that is all I get from it. December 5th 2016 Update: Update on my earlier review dated May 2016 Just an update on my Hoover Heritage. I still love it though the only problem I've had with mine is one of the little rubber/plastic wheels (about the size of a 5cm) broke off in pieces due to wear after only having it for a few months. I took it back to Godfreys as it was under warranty and the repair took 1 week. I missed it! I was disappointed that they didn't replace the tiny wheel on the other side as it will no doubt wear away too but I guess the repairman isn't going to do himself out of another "paying job" is he? I've got a 2 year warranty on it so if the other wheel goes I'll take it back for repair. Other than that, it's still great. I can still get around the whole tiled area of the house on one battery charge. I leave it on the charger all the time however the manual says to turn the charger off when it's fully charged. I haven't noticed the amount of charge diminishing over time. This really is a great little vacuum. Window sills and architraves get done more frequently in our house now since having the Heritage as it only takes about 5 mins with the brush attachment. The guy at Godfreys told me you can rinse the filter under water which I have done and it doesn't seem to have harmed it. You can buy new filters though but why spend the extra money? They recently had a sale and the Hoover Heritage was $89. Bargain! Having no cord is a bonus too! I have a dodgy back and using this instead of a broom and dustpan to pick up the pile of dust in the corner means I don't have to bend over constantly. The suction power is great too - you'll be amazed at how much stuff if picks up. I think my husband is sick of me commenting on how good I am for getting this vacuum. I sound like a paid ad but it's just that good and you'll wonder why you didn't get one earlier. Seriously. Just an update on my Hoover Heritage. Does a better job than 'high power' corded vacuums
The rotating brush is great for picking up hair and similar dirt that a traditional vacuum will just pass over. It is fairly light and the rollers help to move it back and forth, easy to tilt for changing direction. Used mostly on tiled floors, it has retired the corded vacuum. The charging station holds it well and is easy to drop in and pull out. The chamber can fill up quickly as lots of dust is picked up quickly, hair will get caught in the centre chamber, but easy to remove as it opens up on a hinge. Would recommend.

Only lasts a year
I bought this to clean up after kids in between full vacuums with my Dyson. I was initially very impressed. Suction was great and it lasted about 20min before needing charging. Unfortunately, after about a year of using it a couple of times a week for a few minutes at a time, the suction has deteriated so much that I'm ready to put it in the bin!

Great Little Stick Vacuum Cleaner
I totally agree with Kel's 29 Feb review and Kate's 18 Feb review, so I won't duplicate their reviews. I have always wanted a cordless vacuum cleaner but never wanted to pay the $400+ price for the Dysons and the like. This little Hoover is really good at cleaning and I put it down to the rotating brush in the head. Some stick vacuums don't have the rotating brush and they are pretty useless. The rotating brush picks up everything from carpets and even polishes my wooden floors as I vacuum. In fact, I did an experiment by initially vacuuming wi...Read more
th my Pullman and then with the Hoover, and the Hoover picked up fibres and hair from the carpets that the Pullman couldn't. The head is a swivel head which can twist and turn into tight spaces and the slimline construction lets me vacuum under furniture with ease. The battery is pretty good and I can easily vacuum for 20 mins. I also like the charging station which the vacuum cleaner slots into. A small disadvantage is the small dust cannister which does need to be emptied every time. Like Kate's review I started using the Hoover between vacuums with my large vacuum cleaner but after 3 months use, I now use the Hoover almost exclusively. I also got the Hoover at Godfrey's when it was 1/2 price at $99 which is a good price. Would I pay $200 for it?...not sure...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Works really well.
I was a sceptic but now a believer. Cost us $99 from Godfrey's although I did buy an extra filter to get free delivery. The filter was about $20 but I think it will be needed.
When I opened the box I was disappointed. The main vac unit is a dust buster which you fit to an upright body and attach the rotary brush head. Then I used it and I was convinced, it works really well on all surfaces and you don't have to lug out the big unit and become frustrated with cords and the like.
For $100 I'm impressed. I have a Dyson hand held vac DC31 and...Read more
I googled batteries for it and it seems to me my unit has the same battery as the handheld stick vacs that Dyson charges plenty for. Also the attachments particularly the brush attachment works like a dream. I cleaned around the toilets with it and it picked up lots of lint and dust ready for mopping. The minister of war also used it which is a first and she gave it her seal of approval. Must be OK. However, I would also add that you will be able to get away with the Hoover for some months but if doing the whole house with heavy pile carpets and under beds and the like, you will still need to use the heavy duty vac. A small unit with only hard surfaces, a stick vac may be all you need.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Very impressed for price
Quiet, easy to manoeuvre, very good suction, moderate weight. Using for touch ups between big fortnightly vacuum with my Pullman. Seems to pick up everything from carpets which my last stick vac didn't. Including cat & dog hair. Fills the storage canister with each vacuum but easy to empty. Highly recommend!

Does exactly what it is supposed to
I have only had this cleaner for a few days but in that time it has done exactly what I bought it for. I need it to clean up dog fur and bits and pieces on the floor between my weekly vacuum. It sucks up things really well, it charges well and retains it's charge very well. I needed to run it down so I could get it to do a full charge and it took me longer than I anticipated. It is light and maneuverable, has a swivel head and is just the right height. It comes apart easily to empty. I had a similar product once and not only was it hard to get apart and get back together it didn't suck as well. Not sure I would pay full price for this - I got it half price and feel that was good value.

Love This.
Have had this for a few months now and use it about 4 times a week. Picks up most things from carpet and tiles. Great little vac for the price. Bought at Godfeys for $99. Would recommend. Only thing I would like is if the dust container was a bit bigger as it has to be emptied fairly often.

Great value
I am very impressed with this vacuum cleaner. It is really noticeable that it has the cyclone technology. It picks up all the dirt very easily.
I use it on the many mats in my house and it does a great job on them. The vacuum is easy to clean out and charges quickly. It also has the ability to fold the long handle, although I don't see the point. You can't fold it down and have it in the charger with the handle against the body of the vacuum.
If I was to have any negatives, it would be that its not as easy to get onto the charger as my pr...Read more
evious cordless vacuum and the wheels tend to stick a little when i roll off a mat, which requires me to lift it up to get back on. Only minor things that I can live with that definitely don't take away from being a great little vacuum. I got it on sale from Godfreys for $89 ($199 RRP). Edit: After having used it for some time, I could not be happier. One feature I forgot to mention is that inside the dirt container where the cyclone is, there is a lid that when you open (when cleaning the canister) has a coil of all the hair it has picked up during use. It is quite amazing, it picks it up here and doesn't get wrapped around the roller bar at all. Hat's off to Hoover, this is unreal. My last cordless I was constantly having to cut the hair off the bar to clean it.1 comment
I had to have my vacuum repaired under warranty because the beater bar stopped spinning. I suspect that hair and particles got inside the motor. It was repaired without problem.

ly flaw in this otherwise good machine. The bar is easily removed for cleaning but unless you are Ant Man, trying to remove the hair and dirt from the spinning motorised wheel is impossible for normal sized fingers.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Started off great
I was very impressed with this cleaner in the beginning but now the battery goes flat after about 10 minutes cleaning even though it was fully charged. So this is pretty useless if I want to do a larger area. It's still great though for a small job and it does pick up dirt really well

Impressive
We needed a lightweight vacuum where we weren't dragging the vacuum around with leads catching on all and sundry. This Hoover Heritage 5210 Stick Vacuum has excellent suction and versatility and is lightweight.
Just so easy to use. Have no hesitation in recommending.

Since I wrote my review on the 19th March, 2015 the Hoover Stick Vacuum has continued to perform to our complete satisfaction. Would have to say it is the best vacuum we have purchased for a long time.

Nearly 12 months since we purchased the Hoover Heritage 5210 Stick Vacuum and we are pleased to say that there isn't any sign of wear and tear on the unit components and the battery life is as good as new.

Roller failed after 7 months
This works fine for around 7 months (i used probably 7-10 times max!) and now the roller has failed. Called the hoover customer service and they asked me to send the vaccum cleaner to the retail store and repair will take few weeks to come back. So I had to buy a new vaccum cleaner. How brillant their marketing strategy is!

OMG why the hell did I spend so much on vacuum cleaners before???
This thing is the best!!!! Its coming out of a person who has always complained about vacuum cleaners before!! I would say don't stop and think just go for it and you will be amazed by how it works... my big ugly huge one can get out of the house now time consuming...heavy and annoying cords and extensions can get the hell away from me lol.... I am so loving it! I'm a carer and I used another one to help my client out at her place but wasn't hoover... I thought that was good just for quick clean ups but with this I can only have this now n not worry about the big ones... yayyy!!!

Vacuums dirt after the Dyson clean
Practical lightweight stick cordless, sturdy vacuum. Lasts the full 20 minutes and removes lint, threads and dust after the most powerful Dyson. Unbelievable. Works on both hard and soft surfaces.

Great for about 12 months, then the battery wouldn't hold charge
I initially reviewed this as 5 stars when I had had it for under 6 months, however having replaced it with another Hoover stick vac, both of which wouldn't hold charge for longer than 10 minutes after 12 months use. I can safely say I will never buy another Hoover product again.
I also have a Dyson (regular vacuum) which I decided to use to clean up all kinds of debris while we were renovating a house (I had nothing else to use so decided it was 8 years old and if I killed it, it had a good run). It is still going strong!! All I had to do wa...Read more
s replace the filter and wipe it over and it is as good as new. This thing has been ripped around corners, rolled, dropped, had things dropped on it, left outside in winter, and yet is still in one piece and runs perfectly. It baffles me. The Hoovers on the other hand look about twice the age in comparison and have been treated very kindly in comparison. Hoovers are clearly designed to last not much longer than the warranty period. Not good value for money at all.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The battery is flat on my Hoover Heritage5210, can I buy a replace battery, if so where from?

I would go to Jaycar electronics. If you remove the battery and give them a call they can tell you if they have it in stock. Ebay after that if no success

the red button above the light display (that shows recharge) will pop it open to empty. it pops back together easily

Hi Maria,
The red button is the on/off button for the handvac.
To release the dust bin you press down the light just below the red button.

I have a Hoover Heritage 5210, it doesn't charge anymore, what is the problem, battery or charger and what can I do ? I love the versatility of the Vac! Regards Paul.
