I use every day. But this is not good for using night .little bit noisy.and not very flat so you need to use mop too when you clean room especially under sofa . so on. Human hand vacuum is better than iRobot .but this is help for cleaning room for busy people . And you don’t need to clean up by hand heavy cleaner everyday . Normal vacuum are Maybe once per week is ok if you use iRobot together. Accessories are quit not cheap (brush and filter) but you can find and buy cheap same things in Aliexpress and other internet website . Better have extra spire . Because hair and so on often stick and be entwined on rolls.Purchased in October 2021 at Harvey Norman.

Just keeps going
I bought this for my mum when it was first released. She had an earlier version as a trial, so I thought I’d get her the latest. At first she didn’t like the rubber roller, updated from the bristle one, and the fact the it didn’t mount small steps/wedges, such as floorboards to higher tiles, however it seems to have “learned” to navigate these. She doesn’t have carpet but it cleans boards, tiles and her rugs quite well. Can’t remember how long she has had this now but it has been quite a few years, (maybe 5) and she runs it all the time as she ...Read more
is a neat freak. Aside from bristle/roller changes, maintenance is easy and only changed the battery once. Good on hair, (pet and human) and whilst the noise annoys me, she doesn’t even seem to notice, hence, I suppose why she runs it all the time! Good little monster!1 comment

Excellent performance
I have used three of the Neato vacuums for several years, and found them decent, but not a replacement for regular vacuuming with a good upright on carpet. The Neato's "intelligent" mapping of the room was somehow appealing. The Roomba is *much* better at cleaning carpets, and I think it could replace a good upright. I am using two of the Roombas and they are all-around excellent. The seemingly stupid random wandering of the Roomba seems to actually contribute to the cleaning power because it is constantly going over the same spots, and from di...Read more
fferent angles. The downside is that it takes much longer than the Neato to complete a room, but since you don't have to be there, I don't see that it matters. Also, the battery life of the Roomba seems to be three or four times greater than the Neatos, which often had to recharge during the job. The Roomba can do a 1,000 square foot carpeted area without recharge and do it really well. It also gets hung up on objects only very rarely, much less often than the Neato. I did have to buy two "Halo" units to prohibit its entering some very tricky places.1 comment

Love my Roomba
I really love my Roomba. I don't know how floors get so much dust on them, but I'd be hauling my vacuum around every day without Roomba. It gets in nooks and crannies, and goes home when it's finished. He's one of the family. I've now purchased his brother from another mother, Braava.

Battery Dead After A Year
It's a pretty smart vac, but after a year of using and regular cleaning, its run time started getting shorter and shorter until one day it finally stopped working. Very sad as I like how much dust storage it has compared to other robot vacs. It is also easy to empty.

I won this in a golf tournament, I didn't think much of it but decided to give it a go, my wife loves the idea of it. It tends to get stuck down our hallway but after a quick kick it starts back up, it's very quiet.

This product was nice and it cleans/picks up minute particles as well. This product is really helpful and is light. Can be easily moved about room to room or you can let it loose in the whole house and it will return to base for recharging. Hope it works fine for couple of years.

I have had this Roomba now for almost 3 years, it is being used a lot and even with dogs and cats it is doing a brilliant job. I had seen lots of reviews online saying that irobot was really good. So I decided to get one. On the first few cleanings I saw that it looked a little random, but the company says that it maps the room and knows where to go. After a few months I recognised that it was indeed a random path and it missed spots. When I put a lighthouse down it seemed to guess when it was finished that room and then go through the lighthouse (missing some areas). It sometimes doesn't successfully return home and gets stuck under furniture or chews up cables, so wh...Read more
en I get home in the afternoon it hasn't cleaned my house due to getting stuck on things or running out of charge which is quite irritating. I wouldn't recommend this for large houses as it won't get the job done very well. Overall this robotic vacuum cleaner is very good with suction and will get the job done 80% of the time, it has definitely reduced the amount of times I use an upright every month!Similar opinion? My greatest help!
We have been using it for the last 4 months and it works very well! I rarely post reviews honestly, but for this, I really should! Though I reckon there are still room for improvement.
Pros - good suction and good materials. Easy to use. There are indicators on the machine which tells you what is wrong, if any.
Cons - The machine would stop automatically after each cleaning cycle. Which is about 1 - 1.5 hr from my impression. I do hope the cleaning cycle could be longer, but also understand it might be restricted by the battery life? The pr...Read more

Works well, but watch out for the hidden running costs!
This is my second Roomba and the running cost is extortion! My first was the 780 model. I ran it into the ground and then some - it refused to die! The biggest problem with the old model (and the same with the new) was the weak carry handle. It snaps after a few weeks and drops the whole robot on the ground. The 780 finally died of being dropped once to often. The first thing I did on the new 880 model was remove the handle - now it must be carried with two hands around the body which is safer and hasn't been dropped yet. Apart from this the ne...Read more
w 880 operates in a very similar fashion. The other major problem with the 880 is the cost of replacing the rubber rollers on the bottom. They get trashed way to easy by hair and other debris getting caught in the rollers or between the roller and the plastic housing. The rubber gets ripped away and leaves a bald roller. The earlier models used a bristle brush and the replacement parts were around $20 or less as cheap non-genuine parts worked equally well. The new parts on the 880 are $75 from the official website. I bought a cheap pair off ebay and they were non-genuine rubbish that didn't work. So I'm stung with paying $75 which I make last about 6 months but should really be replaced every 3 months or so! They really are too soft to be that expensive. Another problem is the new model no longer recognises it's base station and has attempted to run over it a few times and won't return to be recharged. Never had a problem with the earlier model. At first the 880 worked like normal but after a few weeks it stopped in the middle of the floor and couldn't find home. After much experimenting with new location of base and different rooms nothing works - it doesn't know where home is and if left on the floor, the Roomba runs over it and has shredded one of it's wheels. Now we remove the station when cleaning and wait for the Roomba to run flat in a room before manually placing it back on charge again. Overall - It does a great job of moving around the house and cleaning individual rooms. The twin rubber rollers work best on carpet but the old style bristle brush worked best on hard floors like tile and timber. The cost of replacing the rubbers is extortion! The problem with the base station is a major annoyance. The old 780 I recommend to everyone to buy, this new model has made me look at other manufacturers, probably the Neato or Samsung.2 comments

eaning dust from the filter - I do this without fail every time it's run. If you mean I should follow the Roomba around the house and check the rollers aren't tangled on hair or other particles while it's running - then I'm afraid the reason for buying an automated vacuum cleaner is pointless! Rest assured it is not user error - nor is the problem with my docking station user error. Yes I know how to operate the machine, I'm not an idiot. The Roomba 800 series does not clean as thoroughly on hard floors, nor as economically as the old 700 series. IRobot made a crucial error moving away from the large brushed roller for picking up debris. The motivation seems to be to reduce ongoing maintenance and annoyance of cleaning tangled hair from the brushes. But then your attempted solution and your comments on this review say the problem is mine and I need to clean the Roomba more thoroughly! Sort of defeats the purpose of switching to the all rubber rollers when the maintenance is the same and the cost of replacement of those parts is extortion! Come on iRobot wake up - this is the reason Neato is looking better every day...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great product, pity about service and consumer law compliance.
The roomba itself is awesome. I used to tell everyone to buy one, they won't regret it.
Now I hesitate.
11 months old, still under warranty, the spinning brush broke. 3x Harvey Norman staff and one call to the company all telling me it's not covered under warranty, it's 'a consumable'. Despite me referring to Australuan Consumer Law that a reasonable person would not expect any part to break within a year, they would not budge.
I am now in the process of referring the issue to my Territory (NT) Fair Trading office, to see what happens.
So buyer beware.

Bough it from Myer. Suction is so much better than a robot I bought in China . And it is really intelligent and will pause while finish cleaning a room, thus saving the battery in case I forgot to turn it off.
Hair won't tangle around the brushes, great design. It's virtual wall unit hat helps it limit the robot's movement area is also a very good feature.

So much better than I imagined
Have just purchased 880 and loving it - with a toddler and newborn I haven't much time for vacuuming anymore and while I was initially worried about how much the robot would pick up off the floor I have found it to do a brilliant job. We have wooden floorboards with a couple of large rugs. So far have been using the robot daily. I find the spot clean feature is also quite handy for cleaning up small messes.

Excellent for pet hair.
Buying the rather expensive Roomba 880 was a huge financial commitment, but I have to say that think that it was worth every dollar.
I am astounded at how well it performs on our carpets, and it continued to find cat hair and dust after the carpet appeared to be clean. We have foster cats, so the Roomba certainly has it's work cut out. The 'lighthouses' are great for ensuring that Roomba avoids pet water bowls too.
It works equally well on the tiled floors, and I love that it cleans under the beds, sofas and cupboards.

Be careful of Roombas
I would advise against buying a Roomba, especially from David Jones. I bought one earlier this year and initially liked it so much, I bought a Scooba as well. ( and even bought a robot lawnmower)!). So, I had the Roomba for the carpeted areas and the Scooba on the tiles. I maintained these machines very well as they were expensive. After 4 months the Roomba stopped charging. Returned it to David Jones who sent it to Brand developers and left me to deal with them. Brand said the circuit board got wet and the machine could not be repaired. Give...Read more
n the Roomba was only used on carpet, I do not how it got wet; the carpet was never wet. I checked on Amazon and it's possible to buy a circuit board but Brand were only interested in selling me a reconditioned Roomba. I regret buying these machines. I'm waiting for the Scooba to stop working. If you want to buy a Roomba, get one from Costco as they will replace them- I read that online after mine broke down. I've had better customer service from cut price retailers like Aldi and Big W. When Aldi next has the robot vacuum, I will buy one for less than $200 as I know they will also replace it in case of breakdown. I am very careful with appliances and have a Kenwood mixer that is 27 years old and still in pared ect working order . This has been a very costly mistake for me and I hope I can save others going through the same thing. Edited 7/12/15 On Saturday I bought 2 robot vacuums from Aldi for $199 each. They come with a remote control & can be programmed to clean on schedule. They have 2 side brushes so can pick up more dust & even have an additional microfibres dust pad. Nice touches are the inclusion of a spare brush & batteries for the remote control & lighthouse.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

More than earns its keep
I was fairly sceptical about the capabilities of electronic carpet sweepers/vacuum cleaners but was intrigued by the idea of a product working for me unsupervised. It was a toss up between buying a robotic product (and a new regular vacuum a bit later) or just a standard Dyson or Miele vacuum cleaner immediately. I read as many reviews as possible and decided to test out robotic types in the stores. We watched different brands operating and realised that I needed to rethink my budget of $500. The new iRobot 880 for $1000 was the most suitable ...Read more
however it was significantly more than I'd planned to spend so I gave it further thought and bought one. Two months along... I can say this product has transformed our lives. I run it once or twice a day and it does a remarkable job. Our floors have never felt and looked so clean. The 880 manages to pick up an amazing amount of general dust, dirt, kitchen crumbs, etc. Most importantly, it handles our biggest problem easily - picking up pet fur. We have two dogs and two cats who all drop a lot of hair that sticks to rugs, builds up along the edges of rugs and the timber flooring, and also along skirting boards. All this mess made us feel like the house was constantly dirty and we just couldn't get on top of the floor cleaning. Because of the volume of pet hair it collects I empty the bin after each session and clean the filter daily. Most users wouldn't need to do this however I feel very grateful to S.I.D. (Significantly Important Device) and maintain him regularly. My husband is transfixed by the technology and I admit, I also can't help watching it work. The guys who developed these robots are geniuses. I plan to buy the iRobot floor mopping robot next. My husband has his eye on the gutter cleaner... P.S. I don't have any plans to buy a new regular vacuum cleaner and our old manual hasn't been used since we bought the 880. 9 Month Update: S.I.D. is performing as well as the day I purchased him. There's been no drop in performance. He's absolutely brilliant at picking up pet hair each day and I put him on spot clean to pick up wads of fur on the rug after the occassional cat fight. As we're renovating he's brought into action during and at the end of the day to clean up. We keep S.I.D. well maintained and haven't had any problems. He's tough and surprisingly looks as good as new despite the constant use. Tip for new rug buyers - S.I.D. doesn't like the grey/white/black rug that I bought so I have to use the manual vacuum cleaner on that. 16 Month Update: S.I.D. has been working for us on a daily basis for 16 months now. There continues to be no drop in performance. He looks great with just a few minor scuff marks. From our experience I can highly recommend the 880 model. It will be interesting to see just how long this tough little robot keeps going. He's definitely earned his keep and was good value for money (a big unknown prior to purchase!). I'm a satisfied customer.2 comments

Great, except if you have black lines on your carpet
We love our roomba. Our black wooden floors are shiny after roomba does it's thing. However recently we bought a rug with black carpet. The cliff sensors seem to trigger on it. Had to put masking tape over them, which would not be good if we had stairs.
Cleans all the cat fur off the rug that our old manual vacuum could not remove. Has not got stuck on anything. Seems to do the whole room, although I have no idea how the logic it uses works. Quite noisy. Don't expect it to run in the room next to your bedroom and get any sleep.

Still going strong.

Good Morning Jessi
Thank you for your question. It's hard to say, the Roombas are a vacuum, so there is noise when in operation. I find that I can watch TV whilst my Roomba is working, but if I wanted to take a nap, I would go into the room and close the door as I wouldn't want it coming in whilst I am sleeping. However I have spoken with a lot of customers that only operate their Roombas at night. So I guess it is personal preference.

That doesn't seem right. New ones sell for more than that in the US so they couldn't sell for $500 here. New ones wouldn't be sold at that price.
