Expensive lesson - Two useless Roombas
The first Roomba was great. I got a 780 and loved it, till the brushes stopped turning. I then bought the 980 thinking it would be even better. It took all the good things about the 780 and killed them. It is truly useless, beyond words. it doesn't pick anything up just throws it around and has an empty tray at the end of the cleaning run. Yeah, right. $1500 door stop. So I tried to get the old one working. Sent it to Iroomba to service and fix. $250 later it came back because apparently all ills are fixed with a new battery at a ridiculous pri...Read more
ce, of course. Somehow it made it all through the repair and QA process in exactly the same broken state. So that's two roombas that just push things around. I am really desperately regretting both purchases. Overall two machines cost me almost $3000 and neither work. ASIC next.Purchased in August 2021 at Harvey Norman for A$3,000.00.

Great Little Helper
We have had our Roomba 980 for about 6 weeks and we're very happy with it. We have a 4 bed room, two living room home approximately 180m2. We also have a 3 year old and a cattle dog that shed hair all year round! Having wooden floors, dark black slate and rugs throughout the house so my wife use to use a stick vac 1 or 2 times a day because she can't stand dirty floors. Now we only mop once a week and do a deep vac once a month.
It works well on all hard and carpeted surfaces, gets under most things and I can't believe that it still fines at ...Read more

Love this robot vacuum
I've had the IRobot for a couple years now and it makes keeping our house clean a breeze! I have a dog that loses a fair bit of hair and roomba does a great job of picking them up as well as any dust and dirt. No it doesn't get under very low furniture or into tiny spaces (areas that are narrower than its width) but nor does a normal vacuum cleaner, and just like normal vacuuming you have to clear the floor of objects if you want to clean underneath them. My only (minor) negative is the dust bin is a little small and needs to be emptied every couple of uses.

Totally in love with my machine
After reading countless reviews from this website I decided that this one was the best value for money. Easy to set up, does a fantastic job at cleaning the floors and navigating around the furniture. I find myself just watching it in awe. How did I manage without it? Everyone should own one!
Ease of use
A LITTLE on the noisy side

Time saving delight
We live on acreage with 3 horses, husband, 3 children and the rag doll cat so the floors were a constant nightmare. A friend recommended the Roomba but I already had a cheaper and inferior version that was a waste of time, money and space for our place. Finally, I spent the $600 and have not been sorry at all! I still feel the need to pull out the dyson once a week for a really good clean before mopping but the Roomba keeps the floors looking great. We have a large residence with tiles, carpet and wood floors and it works well on all. The virtual wall means I can contain the Roomba in the large open plan area we have so that it just does the kitchen. Or lounge area when needed.
Does what it says it can do!

More trouble than it's worth
I bought this product because I live in a house with large rooms and vacuuming is very hard on my body and at times simply not possible.
I was sceptical but found that the Roomba does a fairly good job in picking up dirt, and was extremely pleased with how quiet it is.
However, it takes me possibly just as long to pick up everything off the floor, move furniture, large items and ornaments out of the way, and also the virtual walls never worked for me, so I have to divide large open floor areas with furniture, books under chairs, wooden boards...Read more

great little machine
This machine does everything they claim it does. There is only one draw back it is a little bit loud at night time, but perfect during the day, and I would have loved it to have come with two virtual invisible wall barriers as most of my house is open plan and each room has two exits. Excellent machine and would have no hesitation to recommend it to others.
great time saver
a bit noisy

One of My Favorites
I have had the I-robot for 2 years, I love this, it is great for keeping the dust down and the floor clean. I only use it as a floor sweeper on hard floors over a large area. It doesnt replace your vacuum. I dont use it on carpet as my carpet is a pure wool heavy twist pile I find it scuffs up the wool pile and leaves lines. I have a room with wool carpet that is a loop pile that works ok but also find fills with fluff quickly here and as it has rotating brushes I am still dubious of damage to the wool carpet also but no lines left on this one. For the working woman coming home to a clean tile floor is wonderful. I am now considering the scooba.
Great hard floor sweeper.
No good on carpet.

Good
It will not do away with a manual vacuum clean from time to time.
Particularly edges near skirting boards or in sharp corners.
On the other hand, I have emptied a full dust collector from the Roomba after setting it going in a room I had just vacuumed conventionally. I am continually surprised at just how well such a low powered, brush and tiny vacuum works. It works perfectly well on carpet.
Disagree with other reviews -

While it clearly takes longer than 5 to 10 minutes to vacuum most spaces, the fact you have to clean the thing that cleans your room... kind of makes it a little counterproductive.

GREAT PRODUCT!!
I love my roomba 530 and 577 (George and Macca) lol.....they do a fantastic job. They are very quiet and do a wonderful job. I have recently purchased a couple of cheaper models for the bedroom area (we have a large house) DON'T, they are complete rubbish. They have no power, keep stopping all the time, love to climb furniture and the list goes on. Hence they are about to taken back to where I bought them from.
If you want quality you have to pay the price. I just love coming home after working all day knowing that my roombas have been over...Read more

ee what to buy next... so my query is, why do you need 2 x roombas, and why buy 2 more even for a large house - is the home on 2 levels? Pros - I have found the roomba excellent. Cleans very well both carpet and smooth surfaces and goes under beds - fantastic. I use it in our home and in our Bed and Breakfast. I clean other things while it does its thing.
Cons - You still have to dust skirting boards when you think its is necessary. The rollers get full of fluff etc. but the tool to clean them works well or I just use the air on our compressor from the shed occasionally for a super clean of filter and rollers. But I dont mind as I have vacuuming.
Overall it is a pretty amazing machine that really cleans.

Is any IRobot Roomba Vac model better than another ?
1 answer
Hi,
The only thing I can answer about this is that each new model is improved as they try to fix problems from earlier ones, just like they do in all electrical appliances. Apart from that, their dust capacity and the fact that you need to remove everything around the furniture before you set it to work and empty the dust bin so often, well, they cannot do anything about that.
