happy happy
yes very happy with new van have done just 2 short trips so far, that work thing is getting in the way, roof latch just outside door is a hassle, need awning slightly open to lock this one, maybe I just need to get used to it, ( had 3 vans over 15 yrs ), like the bunks and fold out only 1 end, suits us perfectly.

just amazing
Our Jayco pop top van 14-4 OB, we travelled from Melb up the middle via the Oodnadatta track, the Red centre, covering the "loop road in to Alice then Kakadu". We even took the van into Palm Valley camp ground. In a nut shell we did about 3000 ks on dirt roads, not to mention Gibb River Road and into El,questro we drove to the conditions and only had one blow out. I was amazed, very little dust in side, all the fixture and fitting worked great, I may add the van has been fitted with simplicity independent suspension, it was loaded to the max for 15 weeks and covered 25,000 ks(check out our trip) the dewdneydiarys.

14.44-5 Outback Expanda
bought our van in end of Feburary...2013 demo model....and put 5000K's on it before the end of March..it now has close to 8000 on it, and like other have said...a broken shower door latch(cost me $5 to upgrade)....loose hinge or two....nothing major. The main issues I had with it were the spare tyre location and the water drainage..
Spare tyre a PITA....had to remove both gas bottles to get it out...being handy with a welder,I just redesigned the gas bottle mounts and move the bottles out 90mm...tyre flies out now....
Water drainage....most ...Read more

Good Little Van
We bought a 14ft Expanda Outback in 2011 for a trip around Australia for two adults and two children, new from a dealer in Adelaide.
In regards to options we took almost everything, 100 Amp battery, twin water tanks, 16" wheels, Anderson plug etc. I also had extra lights, 12V and 240 V plugs fitted. All these items came in very handy.
Overall the van performed very well, for what we did with it. It is well laid out for travelling with two adults and two small to medium children, complete with a good amount of storage, as long as you don't...Read more
intend to bring everything and the kitchen sink. I would have to say though that the Outback branding is a bit of a furphy, as even though they upgrade the chassis, they do put a standard caravan on top, with standard fittings. So be prepared to get your hands dirty fixing things, if you intend to start travelling on dirt roads etc. One bad thing about the design of van is the layout of the split system air conditioner. As it is a split, they put the condenser at the back and the evaporator in the front, with refrigerant piping joining them both running underneath the floor, to even up the weight across the axles. There is a plethora of holes in the floor for ventilation and condensate drains etc for the air conditioning system. All these holes allowed an enormous of dust inside. If I were ever to purchase another one, and I would consider it, I would think about having a roof mounted air conditioner installed from a dust control point of view. Also spend the extra money and get a sprung mattress. After a couple of months the foam remembers your shape, and doesn't spring back into shape. Layout. Easy to tow with a NP Pajero. Fair amount of storage for the size. Dust ingress. Cupboards, sink fittings etc could do with some beefing up in line with the Outback branding. Foam mattress.Similar opinion? Excellent
We purchased the unit second-hand but it was in as-new condition. We had previously had a Cavalier Camper and we really appreciate the ease of setting up and the kitchen amenities which are standard. We have only used it in winter so far at a powered caravan park site. The heater in the standard aircon worked a treat and we were very snug. Had no problems with water leaking into the van. Sticking door knobs were easily fixed with silicone spray.
We have the 1.49.1 Outback Pop-top Expander which was first registered in January 2009. Quick and ea...Read more

Hi. I have a 2012. 14ft outback poptop. I'm looking for a design plan to install an external shower recess. Where is the best place to put it? The van already has a walled annex and air conditioning. looking at including hot water and pump. Thanks craig.
