I have just purchased this kettle today and followed the instructions exactly to boil and discard the water. All good. Refilled it to make my first cup of tea and there is no longer any display. No temp, no lights. Batteries are in correctly. Not working at all. What is the problem?

Hi Kitchen Aid. I read somewhere where if you push the START button twice it turns off the beeping And if you press it twice again it turns it back on. Is there a hidden insulation to make the beeping louder? I can only hear the beeps with my ear on the kettle.
