Covered my new Ash half-head highlights
After reading lots of negative reviews I was a little concerned. I naturally have medium - dark brown hair and had recently gotten blonde ash highlights, which instead of softening my features actually made them harsher...
I did a strand test first, choosing some hair from the back of my head which had a mix of coloured and natural hair and then applied it for 10 minutes (out of the recommended 20 minutes) so I could compare the colours with special attention to the contrast.

do multiple strand tests, increasing the length of time as you go. Happy with the result, I applied the dye to the rest of my hair for around 12-15 minutes of the recommended 20 minutes and it was perfect! I looked almost exactly like I did before I got the highlights just a little richer in colour and moisturised. I think this is an ideal colour for people who want to take their cool coloured blonde back to warm brunette because this particular brown already has red in it, which is important you're usually told to do red first, then apply a brown. This colour effectively combines those steps. I don't recommend you try it home but I did apply the gloss a week after having my hair dyed. Usually you're told to wait 6 weeks but my hair is super thick, I stranded tested first and was pretty desperate to change my colour. Be careful with your hair though - I recommend you follow instructions and get a professional to do it. I actually tried chocolate chestnut 515 and it made the highlights a purpley-red so I took a risk stepping it up to the Dark Brown.
Purchased in October 2021 at Kmart Retail Stores for A$12.00.

Too dark
I have long hair so I used two boxes of the hair dye. I have medium brown hair. It turned out pretty much black!! Not what I expected at all.
The smell wasn’t too overpowering and no stains on my skin but I’m very unhappy with the colour.

Good
I found the box very hard to use. It has a little holder for the bottle, but it became awkward and messy. The smell is very very very strong. The formula comes off skin quite well, i had accidently got some on my arm and it after a shower and a little scrub it was gone. My colour was nice and dark and after two washes it is still quite nice, though faded a little, but not too noticiably.
I like the colour, I had a dark brown and it was very dark and nice, after two washes it still has held its colour.
It does not cover grey very well.

Terrible
After having my hair turned the wrong colour by this colourant, I called the company. All they said was 'yes, that is more of a black colour'. If it is black, that is what it should be labelled as black, not a dark brown. I was very unhappy with what this product did to my hair.
It has no ammonia, and isn't full of chemicals as some brands are.
I bought a dark brown colour and it turned my hair black! I had black hair for a very long time, and there was no way to get it out apart from washing, washing and washing!

I want to use the colour only for touch up, so if I mix the required quantity n leave the rest in its respective containers without mixing, will it effect the shelf life of the product, once the seal is open ?

A 4 will make your hair almost black. I would not recommend going that dark unless you want black hair !
