Great results
The colour lasts in tone for 5 to 6 weeks.
I wash my hair three times a week.
It will stain if you do not emosify the hairline when washing it. I put paw paw ointment on my hairline to prevent staining.
Purchased in February 2021 for A$15.00.

Didn’t work well
I used this on my hair, kept it for 25 minutes to be sure it would work and was so disappointed by the result. Didn’t work well at all. It didn’t cover the grey areas and I am never wasting my money on it again.
Purchased in February 2021 for A$10.00.

Followed the instructions, and it did absolutely nothing.
I bought one box of L'Oreal Paris Casting Creme dye in the shade Medium Brown 500 for $14 NZD. I wish I could have that $14 back. I've never coloured my hair at home or at a salon, so I thought a semi-permanent would be a nice way to ease into it. I was very wrong. I mixed the solution and did a strand test, and it did not change my dirty blonde/brown hair at all, but I decided to go ahead with dying the entire thing anyway. I did both the roots and tips for 20 minutes, and then washed it out (very excitedly) only to find that it did absolutely...Read more
nothing. Before, my hair was a dark blonde/light brown with a few naturally occurring highlights from time outside. After using this product, my hair is barely half a shade darker and all my highlights (which were my favourite part of my hair) are now a dull blonde colour to match the original colour of my hair. Overall, extremely disappointed. Not only did it make SOME of my hair exactly what I was trying to change it from the rest stayed almost the exact same. I do not recommend this product in the slightest.Purchased in January 2021 at Countdown NZ for A$14.00.

Medium brown turned my hair a cool black
Previously I had used iced chocolate and it came out too dark (black) so to be cautious I went for medium brown. This was to cover my greys and my natural colour is dark brown. I did the root technique and then pushed it through at the end. So roots for 15min and rest of the hair for 5mins. Came out Jet black. What happened to this hair colour? It used to be ok but I will never touch it again - and recommend no one else does either.

It's worthless & Ruins your hair!
The instructions are very poor(used L'Oréal hair color years, this 500 had the worst instructions). Followed the instructions. Says it covers grey. Did not cover grey or even my dark roots that had grown out. It did nothing. Left my hair shiny. But now my roots showing & grey temples - don't want to color my hair again. What am I suppose to do? Oh - reuse the coloring. Well just did my roots, shook the can like the directions, I guess empty. Wasn't even enough to do my ends or use for next touch up - if it actually covered anything or the color took. Wish could give you -10.

Terrible product
Always liked L'Oreal products but this is terrible. Turned orange with brown spots - I looked like an hyena. And I also had a bad reaction and lost a lot of hair

Way to dark and uneven!
This looks like a medium brown 5.0, but went very dark and patchy. I normally only go to the salon but in a moment of stupidity though I would save myself the time. Now I truely appreciate why hair dressers are expensive.. I will now end up spending more money to fix my hair at the salon next week. These product should not be available as the just ruin your hair.

Hair soft and great colour!
I am trying to get away from permanent hair dyes as they have begun lifting the colour out of my hair and leaving it with brassy tones. I have naturally medium brown hair (that had become brassy) and I used this colour creme 500 shade and loved the results! My hair after using the conditioner also is soft and richly coloured. Not black at all like some others have said. Only Reason I only gave it 4 stars now is how many washes does it last? Not sure yet....and only mistake I made was forgetting to wet my hair beforehand but I will deliberately do the same next time due to great colour. Also quicker than applying permanents!

Darker than expected
I bought this product in medium brown and left it on for 25 minutes as recommend for a lot of grey hair. When I washed it out it was pitch black, no hint of brown at all. Hopefully it washes out quickly

. The colour on the pack is not a good indication of the eventual colour .
I used the medium brown and now have matt black hair .I am not impressed with the colour at all .It is expensive as well I would not recommend it . I did however like the smell of the conditioning product that came in the pack. I can't see any shimmering tones but it did cover grey hairs .

Never use this product
I used medium brown and it has turned my hair Matt black. My hair lacks all shine and feels terrible. The colour is far too dark and black and I only left the solution on my hair for 15 minutes. The colour is nothing like the description and picture in the package. There is no brown in my hair now - only black. I will never use this product again.
Nothing
Too dark and not the colour illustrated on the package

a completely different colour than on the box. I am not convinced that the dyes are always in the correct bottles and there may be a malfunction at the manufacturing plant. Ive also had the experience of dealing with their customer service. My hair was blamed for the problem and they didnt want to accept any responsibility. Hilarious, considering Id been using that same colour every 2 months for two years and suddenly I ended up with browny pink hair instead of intense red. two very different colours in my opinion. Serves us right though, for using a product from a company that refuses to stop testing on animals. call it a small amount of karma. Thanks for the heads up! Hope your hair fades. Usually, even with the permanents from loreal the fade time is fast. Dont use a colour protect shampoo and cond (as Im sure you already know). Use a cleansing shampoo and wash it every second day, or more if you dont mind your hair becoming even more brittle for a while.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Not semi-permanent, won't wash out, stains hair, flat dark mono-colour, rotten customer support
This product is awful. They claim it doesnt use ammonia, but it DOES use hydrogen peroxide - so it does get inside your hair folicles and permanently stain them. I left it on for 20 minutes - the box says 10 minutes however the leaflet inside says 15-20 minutes. It was far too dark - I used 500 Medium Brown on light-medium brown hair. I wanted colour warmth and richness, however it's come out flat and helmet-like. The brown is quite cool, no depth.
I phoned the loreal customer support, and got answered by a clearly bored sales rep. She...Read more
basically read from a script and told me that I should wash it up to three times with a mix of anti-dandruff shampoo with bicarbonate of soda mixed in it. She said 'the colour will come streaming off your hair - you will be able to see all the colour coming off in the basin." What a load of rubbish - 3 anti-dandruff/bicarb applications, and numerous shampoos later, and it is still dark and flat. I regret purchasing and using this product. There are better warmer richer semi-permanents out there. awful - no gradation, flat helmet hair1 comment

ucer. It's not a bleach and doesnt damage hair. It's applied to the hair for about 45 minutes under heat, then it has to be really scrubbed throughly out of the hair - it loosens the particles of the colourant. Anyhow, it's reduced a lot of the helmet effect and at least I have some of the warmth back in my hair. Why the Loreal no-Helpdesk couldn't have mentioned that in the first place, I don't know. It's the newest technology in hair colour remover. Sure beats anti-dandruff shampoo and bicarb. Cost $90Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

hi
I'm an Indian and have medium brown hair ...I've now been noticing that i have grey hair cropping up
my question is whether is it safe to use l'oreal casting creme hair colour to globally colour my hair every 45 days...

Oh yes, but you only really have to do your roots. When I color I really focus on my roots. Then, when I have a few mins left I work the color through the rest of my hair. You probably have thick hair? Just make sure you grab an extra box if necessary. I like lots of color so I don't miss any parts of my head. When I use it all over its so shiny and healthy looking. You will know when you need to touch up..your grey will creep up and hair will look a bit dull. P.S. use lots of conditioner. Keep your hair healthy!!
I used this to cover previously bleached highlights that had grown out and the few greys and whites sneaking through and was pleased with the even coverage. However, after 4 washes and a swimming session i have been able to notice more visibly my naturally greying lites under strong lighting which is leading me to seek a more permanent colour option to protect my colour for my summer holiday when i awill likely spend all me time in pools or sea water and washing my locks. Otherwise great product.
