Product is unusable for Blu-Ray discs
I bought a Laser BDS3000 about a year ago and had no trouble with it at all. I could play multi-region DVDs on it, which is very useful, since some of the titles I wanted are not available in Australia but may be ordered from (say) the US. The picture is sharp and the sound is perfect. The only problem is that the fast-forward is, well, slow-forward.
Recently, however, I have been trying to play Blu-Ray discs, and this is where the BDS3000 comes unstuck. It vibrates like mad and the buzzing sound is highly distracting. For some unknown rea...Read more
son this does not happen with ordinary DVDs. A friend of mine, who recently bought one of these players, experienced exactly the same problem, so took it back and got a refund. Since Blu-Ray is destined ultimately to replace ordinary DVDs, I cannot classify this player as other than bad.

Let down by no slow advance operation.
This Laser BD3000 has some problems. The remote is small and difficult to operate. The on screen display is very hard to use. There is NO slow advance. In other players you can press pause and then hold the fast forward button down for a few seconds and the picture plays forward or back at half speed. This is very useful if you are reviewing a football match and want to see all the action in slow motion BUT this BD3000 player does NOT have this feature. The machine is of NO use to me and I have wasted my money by buying the thing.

not bad for the price, remote lets it down
Bought for the multi region blu-ray and was very frustrated as my example did not do this out of the box. While a firmware update fixed this, i'm sure many out there would not think to try this and simply return it out of frustration. The remote seems very very picky about how its pointed at the unit, and the buttons feel pretty average. Playback however worked fine, with minimal vibration/noise from the unit except a small burst when initially starting. For the price, its not bad, but its most definitely a budget unit.

No longer region free for blu ray
I bought this to play blu ray movies that are unavailable in Australia because of the number of sites that described it as region free for blu ray. This might have been true in the past but it is no longer. There is no blu-ray region option available in Settings as there once was. The machine works well otherwise but is not at all high end.

Laser blu ray player
excellent units, 2 friend have purchased & recommend, i purchased & found fantastic, true multi region player, small great price, 3-YEAR WARRANTY... wbat else has that.... the write ups about made-in-China... what isn't?? write ups about several units not working... like to know your real stories.... i now have a spare sitting in the box in a cupboard.... if there's any criticism, there's some vibration on blu ray playback occasionally & the start of discs... possibly as the units are so small & light & the play technology quite advanced... readily available, good value, highly recommended...

Perfect
I read a lot of negative reviews here, don't know why, I have 3 of the Laser BD3000, never had any issues except 1 time a disc would not eject, just turned the power off and on again and no issues that was 2 years ago.
I love the fact it is a true region free Blu-Ray player and will buy another one for my dad today

Excellent dvd/blu-ray/cd/media player at a very reasonable price.
My husband & I bought this dvd player from Big W in 2017. The normal price was $89, but we got it on special for $69. We needed a new dvd player, & had been looking around for a while. The price was right, so thought we'd give it a go. If it didn't work, it wasn't a lot of money to lose. Well, surprise, surprise - its turned out to be the best dvd player we've ever owned!!! Very easy to use, & for someone like me who is no good with technology, this is a must! It plays dvd's & blu-ray from any country. I've got a sizeable dvd collection, & have...Read more
bought a lot of dvds online from UK & USA, so needed an ALL regions player to view them. When we bought this in 2017, finding players that played all regions were hard to find. I'm pretty sure that Big W still sells this player. Worth a look if you are in a store one day. There is a 3 year warranty with it. This player is aussie owned & operated, so a big thumbs-up! I highly recommend this dvd player to anyone who's looking for a new one, & doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money.Purchased in September 2021 at Big W Retail Stores for A$69.00.

Does what it says it's supposed to do
Bought Jun '17, Easy setup, Simple Menus, Been using since then without any issues.
Played all DVD / BD discs that have been viewed without problems, no undue noise, picture quality is VG.
Not a weighty unit by any means so would have to agree that it is probably made to a price, but what isn't these days.

Cheap crap
Have now tried 3 of these machines, each with a different problem. 1st machine wouldn’t play any type of disc whatsoever. Kept spitting out the discs after trying to read them. 2nd machine made a terrible grinding/vibrating noise whilst playing the movie. Made the movie unwatchable because of the noise. 3rd machine simply wouldn’t even power on. I rang Laser tech support & advised them of each different problem. Their reply was that they were a cheap product made in China & to keep trying until I got one that worked properly.

Don't touch it.
It's cheap. It's rubbish. Door wont open second time I used it. Only thing going for it is that it's multi-region but not a lot of good if you can't use it. Better to push the boat out and buy a better brand. Most of these are made in China anyway.

Piece of Junk
Brand new unit broke down after a week and just a few DVD's. The problem? The unit would no longer power up.
It is supposed to have a Sony made optical pick-up, but allegedly the other components are no-name rubbish for it to fail so quickly. Not good enough Laser, this player is NOT of merchantable quality.

disappointing
I bought two of these players because they are multi region, cheap and had good reviews. One of the players worked at first and then it didn't power on.It was brand new at the time but the power cord was very loose, took it back and swapped for another. With the second player after about 6 months the picture started shaking. When comparing image quality and colour to something even as old as a Playstation 3,which has noticeably clearer picture and much more vivid colour, the laser is considerably less sharp and the colour is much more washed out.Not worth it even if they are cheap.

Laser Blu-Ray Player - Multi Region - BLU-BD3000
Got this from JB Hi-Fi they priced matched bigw price $69.00
Surprisingly very good
Overall a steel for what I paid. This is even better than all brand names it plays blue rays disk that the brand names reject. And best of all multi region I can now watch dvds from the UK and USA. I do think that all the other brands should do the same.
A friend of mine to one back to the uk and not for sale in the uk
The down side is some video formats will not play
And no apps for Netflix etc
Over all a great buy

Vibrates too loud
The player vibrates louder then my TV on max, fair enough playing a Blu-ray but a DVD, shakes half my house. Plays just fine, shame to the picture is great but no point watching anything on it, all customers service lines I've searched for are unavailable, going in my bin.

Plays Multiregion / zone Blu-Ray and DVDs out of the box
Plays different zone Blu-Ray discs (have tested a couple of Zone A locked US Blu-Rays) with a simple change in the menu (General Settings -> Security Tab then select region A, B or C).
Of course, you may need to set it back to Zone B when required to watch AU / NZ / UK / EU etc discs as it isnt automatic i.e. like for DVDs
DVD regions don't need to be set as it appears to be automatic.
The user interface isn't as slick as other "name" brands like Pioneer, Samsung, etc. and doesnt have 3rd party apps like Netflix, but more than good enough for what it does.
Haven't tested the USB or DLNA functionality yet either so cant comment on file compatibility.

Pretty good quality multi-region Blu-ray and DVD player
Two of my friends and I own this Laser BD3000 Blu-ray/DVD player. One of my friends initially had a problem with his which showed green pixilations in the screen when playing Blu-ray discs, and also had distorted sound, but we eventually discovered this was caused solely because this device was placed on top of a Panasonic DVD recorder/Blu-ray player which had been left with a tuner switched on and had consequently got very warm. Once the Laser BD3000 was moved onto a wooden surface it worked fine, and so does my other friend's device and also ...Read more
mine. The Laser BD3000 has very good picture quality and sound for both Blu-rays and DVDs of all regions. DVDs of region 1 and 2 play automatically, but region A Blu-ray discs need to have the region changed from region B using the remote. The multi-region Blu-ray capability is good but of limited usefulness as Australia is the same region for Blu-ray discs as Europe so that lots of movie titles can be purchased from the UK that will play on a standard Blu-ray player. But the capability to play region 1 and 2 DVDs is very useful because there is a very limited range of movies available in region 4 for Australia compared to these other two regions for the US and Europe respectively. Some DVD players are multi-region also but they don't advertise this so it is good to have a device where you know for sure that it will play DVDs bought with UK and US region encoding. One of my friends bought a $12 DVD player from Aldi (the brand name was some name like Vivid) which played all regions of DVD, but this capability was not stated on the box. He got rid of this player though when he got the Laser BD3000 for $98, which also my other friend and I paid for ours at Harvey Norman. I have found the remote to be perfectly fine, and it doesn't interfere with my TV which is a Grundig, or with my two friends' TVs which are both LG. I also haven't had any problem with the length of the power cord - I didn't notice that it was particularly short as I plug it into a power board near my TV. But for me this Blu-ray/DVD player has one major drawback in that it won't play DVDs that have been recorded using a Panasonic DVD recorder and had the ads removed using the edit and partial delete functions. When it reaches the first deletion point, instead of pausing for an instant and then continuing to play, it just stops and won't play any further. This is very irritating, and when I visit my friend who used to have the $12 multi-region DVD player which played edited DVDs fine, I have to leave the ads in and fast forward through them. I have tried playing edited DVDS on at least 6 other brands of DVD and Blu-ray player (Philips, Panasonic, Maginon, Vivid, Grundig, and Thomson), and this is the only one that can't play them. That being said the sound and picture quality is very good in this device, and its ability to play multi-region DVDs in particular is very handy indeed.Similar opinion? This laser Bluray DVD player is great
This Bluray DVD player is great and worth the price as it plays DVDs, cds and Bluray DVDs and great graffics but only thing wrong with it is the remote is a fair bit flimsy but other than that it is really good and I will recommend to anyone as it is great so I give it 5 stars

Good player marred by poor remote
Having a large number of discs that were only ever released for Region 1, I didn't want to be stuck with a region-locked player. Unfortunately in Australia today it is very difficult to find a multi-region player. So my choice went to the Laser BLU-BD3000 which claims to support discs from all regions, including Blu-rays.
As a budget player it is priced similarly to low-end brand name players. There is little to suggest the quality is any different. In fact the Laser BLU-BD3000 states it uses a Sony laser and if this were not enough, the p...Read more
layer comes with a three year warranty where most only give one year. Having no Blu-rays, I only tested DVD's. These played fine with one proviso which I will explain later. What diminishes the user experience is the terrible remote. It is far too small and fiddly. Just because the player is small, doesn't mean the remote can be. A decent-sized, egonomically designed, remote is a must - particularly for the elderly. And yes, the power cord is too short. The only defective behaviour I found occurred when trying to page through text-based content sometimes included in the special features area of a DVD. If I paused longer than 10 or so seconds between pages, the disc would eject with the message "The disc is damaged". This occurred on every disc tried which had text-based content. At the suggestion of Laser Technical Support, I tried another unit. It did the same. This is likely a firmware defect in the player (rev 3827). Unfortunately Laser showed no interest in fixing it. In summary the Laser BLU-BD3000 is a reasonable player which is let down by an unfriendly remote. The problem reading text-based content, while annoying, wasn't enough to counter the fact this player is multi-region (incl. Blu-rays) when the vast majority are not.Similar opinion? We have plugged the BluRay player into a TV with an already existing DVD player built in and whilst the movie is playing the remote controls seem to go crazy. You try turning up the volume on the TV remote and it skips to the next scene in the movie. Try fast forwarding on the DVD remote and it changes the channel on the tv. Any ways the we can fix this issue?
1 answer
I had exactly the same problem. The two remote-control units are using the same digital code for quite different functions. Basically, the manufacturers of the BD3000 player should have chosen different codes from those commonly used for television sets. There is no way to fix this problem permanently. The only way I could get around this problem was to get up and hold a piece of cardboard in front of the DVD player whilst using the TV remote control, or in front of the remote-control sensor on the TV whilst using the DVD remote control.
But in the end, I gave up and bought a Sony DVD player, and everything works fine. I learnt a lesson here: Stick to the well-known and reputable brands.

what I have to do when a green light is blinking and the devices doesn't accept any instruction

I turnoff the device and after switch on and the light stay blinking
I cannot remember if I have had this problem before or not. But I can say that if you just turn it off, it doesn't really go off completely, and the memory of its status before you turned it off is still there when you turn it back on again. So the only thing I can think of is to disconnect the power supply for few minutes so that the memory is cleared, then reconnect the power.
leave the printer turned on and switch the computer off for 2 minutes and then turn the computer on again. I think that this will reset the computer to printer connection. You may have to stop and start the computer 2 or 3 times doing this. You could also try taking the inks out and put them in again.

Hi Michael. My Laser BD3000 was not a good machine and I have not used it at all. I bought another brand of DVD player and I am using that. I bought a Sony BDP-S1200. It is an older Blu-Ray Disk/DVD Player but even so it is much better than the BD3000. I have found that you really have to buy a good brand of player like Sony to get something decent in DVD players. I was ripped off with the BD3000 it is cheap Chinese junk.

Update I payed 125.00 dollars for this Laser BD3000 and I have just found that our local Harvey-Norman has them for 95.00 dollars so it appears that with all the faults that this machine has the seller Kogan also ripped me off.
