Ice maker and water not dispensing. I can hear ice motor starting for a couple of seconds but then stops and no water or ice will come out. The light still works when you press a glass against the dispenser lever. It started intermittently not working and has now totally stopped. Thanks for your help
Check filter in door. Is it clogged? Is water reaching the filter?
What did it end up being?
I have this problem. Did you end up getting this resolved?
I couldn't work it out. Tried a number of things. Ended up giving the fridge away. Pretty unimpressed with LG. The fridge was only a few years old. I also had an LG direct drive washing machine that didn't last 5 years. Im trying other brands now.
vegetables keep freezing in vegetable compartment
Ahaaa! Ivan, we had that problem too. Ruined hundreds of dollars worth of food. We had LG tech out and he said it was a flap on the duct at the back of the fridge (inside). I think it lets air from the freezer compartment up into the fridge compartment. It would stick open. He replaced it. In no time, it was doing the same thing. We had the tech out again. He replaced the flap and something else. In the end, we had the LG tech out four times (could have been more) before he admitted it was a design flaw that couldn't be fixed. We contacted LG who gave us a store credit even though by then it was just outside of warranty. We went and bought a Mitsubishi fridge and haven't had a single problem. Save yourself the headache and just ask for your money back.
Yes, we contacted LG about the same problem-- got no results, still have food freezing in back on lowest shelf and in drawers. Horrible fridge, I hate it. Never again LG.
my L G is2 years old plumbed it up correctly does it dispense chilled water or not it just room temp

Our 5.5 year old fridge has just started to trigger (multiple times)the earth leakage circuit breaker when we open the upper left door(with the water/ ice dispenser). Any suggestions.
John, did you ever get a solution for this? We are having the exact same thing happen.
It was the heated flap(plastic with stainless insert) on the LHS Top door, that folds out. It had a wire that was partially broken in it. Got an LG service person, cost was $300-500. Good luck
LG GF-5D712BSL
3 years old, today stopped;
- dispensing water, can hear clicking above the fridge
- dispencing ice ( both crushed and block)
Doors all closed - clicking doesnt happen when the doors are open and trying to dispence
Tried on off trick - sounds different the first try after turning on but reverts back to clicking
Tried replacing the water filter
Checked water supply - fine
Anyone else had this problem?
Seems strange both ice and water not working even though ice is in the tub
Its a factory fault with door.
I was told this by a service guy.
Still trying to get them to fix or refund full amount. They tried partial refund. But it would still cost me 2k for a new fridge.
They said they don't have spares. By law they have to have spares as fridge motor has 10 year warranty
I'm thinking about purchasing the Black stainless steel, however now I'm concerned as 1 customer has reviewed that the black colour is coming off after just 6 months and that you can see the stainless underneath. Can I be assured that the black stainless won't do this?
Why is the amount of chilled water so small? I get 150 ml @12 deg, then 150 ml @14 deg, then 150 ml @ 18 deg, then 150 ml @21 deg. As we have 4 children who want a drink of chilled water, this is not possible. Is there an adjustment that can be made? Model GF 5L712PL.
That is odd, we’re able to fill multiple glasses (prob 300ml capacity) back to back with no issues all chilled. Perhaps there’s an issue with yours I’d contact lg or your supplier
What is the fridge opening measurements, in building my kitchen around it?
Hi, our opening is 100cm wide x 185 high which gives a bit of room for airflow around the fridge. Officially from the machine it is 912mm wide x 758mm deep x 1800mm high. The Samsung will also fit this space and maybe a better choice given the water leakage issues the LG is experiencing
115cm all up. Never had water leakage issue.
So would this be flush mount at 115cm
What's a good French door fridge that is reliable and good customer service
I really don't know which is a good french door fridge as I have tried two Samsung and LG and both had similar problems freezing the vegies. May be try Westinghouse or other models. I won't buy at good guys as they aren't as good as they say. Am still struggling to get my money back from them although LG accepted to refunded back my money to them but not yet got it from the Good guys.
I just brought the LG GF-5L712PL french door fridge freezer with ice maker and water. Question is the water suppose to be cold or at keast chilled??
I purchased the LG 712 L 5 door s/s in April this year. The ice and crushed ice has stopped functioning. Also I don't believe the ice water is that cold. Can you help please?
Cilla
Sounds like your filter needs replacing. It's easy to do and the replacement procedure is outlined in the manual. You can buy them online. That used to happen to our Samsung about every six months.
Just bought our French Door Fridge ice maker is working but no chilled water it has a dedicated water line and has been checked water is there. Does anyone have any ideas?
As I'm thinking of purchasing this model also, I checked and downloaded the user guide. Page 49 of guide under trouble shooting gives a couple of reasons for no water. Hope this may help you (you've probably already checked this anyway). Hope it all works out as the fridge looks like a good model.
Please can anyone tell me how much to the replacement water filters cost? Also, Can anyone give me some idea about how loud this fridge is? LG don't provide this info.
Hi.. sorry i have not had to replace filter yet!! i think it came with a spare… I find the fridge is nice and quite you have to put your ear up to it to hear it….. the only thing i didn't like is that it marks (hand prints) real easy but if you get the stainless steel throw away cloths and wipe it over with it and then use a dry cloth to wipe as it is a bit to greasy from the wipes….
How wide and deep is the cavity that you need for the 906litre for it to sit flush and the doors to open and not bang into the cabinets either side?
Thanks!
I checked this out in the store. You need an extra 35mm on either side to accommodate the arc of the door when it is fully opened... this was pretty much standard for all makes and models of the French door fridges.
Hi bought this GF-5D712SL. All good design and space. Only problem is the water dispensing machine is not dispensing chilled water as it says. Have left it now for a week. Still no luck.can anyone help??
I have the same problem, with it not dispensing chilled water. I now just add ice cubes to the water.
I do have a problem with the stainless steel finish!
It's extremely hard to keep clean! Not the easy wipe over like the Samsung finish.
Can someone help!
How do you keep the stainless steel finish looking nice?
How is the LG GF-5D712SL going?
Performing well, no problems so far. Makes ice cubes and crushed ice which is a nice feature. Fridge and Freezer are really cold. Lots of storage in the freezer so have yet to run out of room. I do find the door in door feature a bit of a gimmick as it's the same effort to open a normal door compared to the door in door.
Hi Thanks for the response.
The Door in Door I think is arguably easier on those LG models with a handle, as the handles has some sort of extra button that you press lightly and the door in door opens. With the GF5D712SL, I think there is a small button on the handle less door you have to press and then pull the door open? either way it seemed more cumbersome than the handle model* this is only based on my testing in store. I have not purchased this fridge yet.
that said the fridge itself cosmetically without handles appears a lot slicker looking than its rivals plus I think the bottom freezer doors that open outwards is far superior to the double French door where you have to dig down into one big draw of frozen stuff (even with those draw in draw gimmicks)
Some LG reviews talked about the ice feature blocking up and freezing or the digital display freezing up - any issues there?
Is you fridge installed on its own circuit?
Door in door operation is the same as other LG fridges - press down on the button and the door opens, it's just that you end up opening the main fridge doors anyways to get other stuff.
No blockages with the ice maker as yet, the manual says the fix is pretty simple - take out the ice box and clear out any blocked ice.
I had the plumber install a dedicated water outlet when my kitchen was renovated - The connection to this was simple took less than 5 mintues. If you don't have a dedicated outlet you can connect to a dual outlet minitap once installed under the sink.
Power wall socket is on the same circuit as the other wall sockets, I don't think there is a requirement to have it on a separate circuit.
