Pain in the head- don’t use it
We gave our 17 year old son a cashpassport for Canada. We thought you could transfer instantly, but it takes 24/48 hours to clear. It’s such a pain. Why didn’t they give two cards so I could go into post office and put cash in for immediate use? Or better still, have instant transfers. Never use this card again.

Very happy customer
I've been using this card for many years over many trips and it's been fantastic. Some of the issues people have encountered can be avoided by reading up on how it works e.g. The amount you load in aus dollars will convert to the foreign amount (which is less if the aus dollar is weaker). I've used this card in Europe and the US without issues. Bank transfer charges no fees so if you just use that and don't withdraw from an ATM then you don't have to pay any fees (which is what I try to do). Bank transfer and bpay do take a lot of time, sometim...Read more
es longer than the estimated time but honestly, if you plan ahead, use the app to check your balance and load money well ahead of time then you'll be ok! To avoid paying the withdrawal fee when coming home if there's still a balance I just change the currency back to aus dollars and use it in Australia as I would any other Australia card I own. I've been fortunate not to have it rejected anywhere and I've been using it for my trips over the last 4 years. I would recommend it!!! The multicurrency loading is an awesome feature too. In the US it may ask you on the eftpos machine if you'd like to pay in Australian dollars or the loaded currency, look at this and see what's a better deal for you. Very happy customer, makes travelling easy :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Authorised stealing!
We loaded 5000 AUD some in USD and some in British Pounds. During our trip we did not use the card at all so once back we thought to convert the foreign currency back in AUD and use the card as a normal card to purchase goods in Australia. We checked the currency exchange rate on Internet and we were quite happy that the conversion would have give us a little bit more (!!!!!!) of our original amount, around 5020 AUD. So we called the help line to proceed to the conversion. We were absolutely horrified to find out that the Cash Passport rate w...Read more
as nothing close to the official rate! They gave us back only AUD 4518 stealing practically almost 500 AUD. After our strong complain, their explanation has been that it is a computer generated conversion so there is nothing they could do, with the usual worthless apologies. We had to accept the amount offered and accept to be robbed. Five years ago we used a Commonwealth Bank Travel Card (I believe they don't have it anymore, unfortunately) when we came back we had all our money back and more, as they refunded us the official exchange rate. We are really upset, especially by the fact that some institutions can rob you and there is nothing you can do....Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Better off taking debit card and just telling the bank
First experience with the card was great, online top up was quick, fees were pretty low and I could use it online as well. Can't cash out leftovers and when I started trying to use it back home it wouldn't process.
Let me top it up and then apparently all my details were changed into gobbledygook so the card was frozen. Spent $170 in call fees because the free call number on the card ain't free at all. Lady was really helpful and had it unfrozen for me that same night but my confidence in using the card is gone.
Might as well take the extra time to find an atm with no fees and use my home debit card.

Don't use cash passport - mastercard.
We had problem with this card from the beginning . There help line is absolutely useless . They didn't return e-mails. Wouldn't give answers to questions, always said they would have to get the supervisor to ring back (3 times) Never returned calls. They tried to say problem on our end and when we proved it was there stuff up they ducted for cover. This has been going on now for near six weeks and is still not sorted. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MASTERCARD TO ANYONE.

Rip off
15 yo daughter was travelling to Europe with school for a month. Got her a card and loaded money. When adding more money from home they charge you money an extra $5 with a lousy exchange rate. When she got home they then charge you $10 to transfer back to your account with an even worse exchange rate. And they charge you $4.07 every time you take money out.. They promote it as a safe reliable alternative.. Just making some multinational bank richer. Major rip off. Next time I suggest a credit card. Would be $100's cheaper.

Holiday Ruined Thanks To Cash Passport
I wish I had found these reviews before purchasing my cash passport. My card would work in spurts. Very embarrassing when your card declines! I travelled to the USA with my children and using the card in Disneyland, then for no reason the card starts declining. I called customer service and they said it must not be accepted there!!! Funny that it worked there the previous day. Then we decided on a day of shopping, once again the card would not work. So for the second time I called customer service. They kept dodging my questions and made excuse...Read more
s. 4 days running i had to call customer service. They would always say they would call me back this would never happen. Every time you phoned you would have to explain the same situation. It put a dampener on the holiday that I worked so hard for to take my kids on a trip of a lifetime. In the end I asked for my card to be cashed out. They told me it would take 48 hours for a supervisor to approve this. I had no time left as we would be leaving the country in a few days and 2000 sitting on a card we couldnt use. They would only give 1000 cash out. I said that i should be able to cash out the whole amount as they could not give any answers to why my card was not working. So hard to get a Western Union agent to give you a cash out of 1000. I spent massive amounts of money on Ubers trying to get the cash out. I even ended up in a not so good neighbourhood!!! Never again will I be using this product. Like another reviewer on here, all of a sudden the customer service operator could not hear you. I even had one hang up on me. I was so over them saying sorry to hear about that. I told them to stop reading it off their screen when clearly they do not care at all. One very unhappy customer! I too would give ZERO if there was an option to do so.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Don't do not it, just take cash
Took a cash passport to Thailand. In short it was a total mess up, charged excessive ATM fees any way, not worth it along with the initial setup fees. Just take cash, it's a much better rate and option.

Do not use!
wish I could give 0/5. I travelled to Singapore in February 2017 and was offered the cash passport and accepted it, sounded great. This was the worst thing I could have ever done. it took ages for money to reach my account. I could not login as someone working for the company typed in the wrong name for my mothers maiden name. I then had to spend money to call them up internationally. I then found my card today and decided to take my money out, 25 minutes on the phone and finally they would accept I was the owner of the card, They charged me 4 AUD for not using the card in last 18 months and then charged me 10 AUD for take MY money out. its a scam and regret ever putting money onto this card.

takes too long to reload
I reloaded this card $500 7pm on Thursday night - still waiting for the top on Tuesday morning. Lucky I can borrow money from other travellers - this is unacceptable and I don't recommend this card.

Cash passport mastercard terrible
Could not access site overseas, could not get log in or get thru automated phone services to actually speak to someone had to call aust post to get me thru and then demand a manager help me log in with a temp password in order to transfer my money back with a services fee pfffft !!!! they can only be contacted by phone and that takes ages and is liable to call charges if you call by mobile, no online assistance, call assistance not efficient, I mainly got it for the wifi which is not actually mobile wifi but hotel specific you find after reading the terms upon opening the card packaging. This card is a rip off in so many ways!!!!

Do not use Cash Passport!
I loaded AU$4900 onto my cash passport, only to find the transaction history on the App saying I had only loaded $4500. Where did the other $400 go?? People at the call centre could not tell me and were extremely rude. One operator pretended he could no longer hear me and it wasn’t until I threatened to lodge a complaint against him if he kept up the nonsense, that he pretended to be able to hear me once more. Asked to speak with a manager who could not provide any answers either and who was also very rude and dismissive of my concerns. Checked...Read more
my receipt from the bank where I loaded the passport and turns out the amount on my passport in euros was correct, but due to mastercard’s terrible exchange rate I really only got $4500 worth. And yet no one could explain this to me or why this amount even appeared on the App. Very confusing, upsetting, frustrating and time-wasting. NEVER using a cash passport again due to exceptionally bad service and terrible exchange rate.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Most expensive and fraudulent from the start
I should have found this website before i purchased this card, i got mine from Australia post, loaded a thousand dollars on it over the counter only to find the initial reload was $912, so where did the rest go? It was very expensive to use atm machines in Thailand, one machine charged over $20 to get $50 out..this is a complete scam from purchase to use and beyond, and if you try to get answers from mastercard or australia post they just run you around till you give up.
Don't use this rip off card, we need to have a class action.. there is enough of us...

Would not let me access most of my funds until back in Australia - never explained why - was charged
This card was rejected first attempt to pay hotel accommodation for reasons that could not be explained. Funds were readily available. Second attempt by hotel was accepted but Cash Passport deducted both transactions one of which was not refunded until 30 days later (after trip). This was the largest expense. It used up all Euros and took British pounds (with exchange fees). I rang many times to try to understand why I had no funds available while travelling. This took many calls. I still do not know why. I could not access information on a ipad screen. In the end I transferred money to this card, was unable to access most of the funds and was charged multiple exchange fees to get my money back. Do not use this product.

Totally USELESS, spent 5 hours on multiple calls with Bank & Mastercard & STILL left in the dark
- Cannot use at some EFTPOS machines in the US.
- My Amazon.com payment got rejected twice with this card, I had to use my VISA instead (3.65% conversion)..
- They spelt my name wrong so nothing worked on day 1 of my trip
- You can't reload from the app, the website is terribly designed and does not let you reload funds.
- Instant direct debit transfer charges $5 after a transfer, but it still didn't work for me.
- Offshore call centre in the Phillipines every time. And you have to go through a series of automated voice prompts and securit...Read more

Useless service
Hopeless service!! I can't even get past first base to activate it online. Rang after it didn't activating online and the plastic lady went round in circles and i just hung up. Sent an email and with a day before i go overseas i am not happy! Going to leave it at home and cancel it when i get back from my holiday. My bank organised and recommended it to me and said to ring if i had a problem, well just the same, no help either! Should have listened to a friend who said the same useless service with Cash Passport while they were overseas.

Card was blocked for months, useless.
I put money on the card. When I needed it: no money; very embarrassing and a very difficult situation.
The card was blocked. Some security concern, which I think is a false alarm. But anyway, it has taken months.
I get so little help from customer support; I have been writing emails, waiting three says for a reply, and no solution in sight.
I have no access to cash, I am using another credit card (I brought it for emergencies).

What a joke, transfer $505 on to the card all details correct, never turns up at the other end. Worse customer service ever when you do eventually get through. Bunch of lying scammers!

Helps scammers and criminal activities.
A scam called FTO Capital took money from my Cash passport without my authorisation. I asked Mastercard to help recover my money. But no help at all. Please Avoid using cash passport at at any cost. It is now targeted and used by many criminals.
Your money is not safe or protected. Cash passport works with scams like FTO Capital. You cash passport Mastercard garbages.

Hi! DI Kent
Call the number 1800 098 231
talk to him there.
Finally, after 47 phone calls, I regained the money.
You must be patient with this company.
Thank you. I did ring yesterday and they are investigating. Said 24 to 48 hours. Wish me luck
Di I apologise for not reading or answering your query about Mastercard {in itself an oxymoron} but my excuse would bore you. I was planning to complain to the Financial Industry Ombudsman but have procrastinated. If that is the same number I tried I would be curious how many menus you went through? Gerard
