The card that only works four days a week
I was stranded without access to money for three days when I transferred money to this card on Thursday evening (U.S. time) and I could not access it until Sunday evening.
The problem was not with my bank, they do immediate transfers with participating banks.
An international currency card that only operates on limited Australian banking hours is useless.

Extremely poor service and an expensive lesson.
I loaded some money on to my card 10 days prior to going overseas and then converted it to the local currency. Unfortunately I had not realised that the card had expired the month before, and even though Cashcard happily accepted these transactions it was not until i tried to use my card overseas that it was declined on the basis of it being out of date. Between the time reloaded my card to the time my attempted transaction was declined, there was no indication from the company that this was the case. As a result I was not able to access the mo...Read more
ney i had loaded for use on my holiday (which caused some unforseen problems) and I needed to convert the money back into Australian dollars on my return. I began with $AU1500 and will have $AU1315 once I cashout my account, loss of $185 for no service or access to my money. I have also been informed that it may take up to 4 weeks for money to be transferred back to my bank account, even though they originally accepted instantaneously. I would strongly advise other travellers to consider other options.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Useless travel card
I took out this card as my usual travel card was damaged & no time to get a replacement. I loaded funds as instructed and locked in my currency (Japanese yen): From when I arrived this card was declined everywhere, the only call centre I could reach via Skype was hopeless and could not tell me why the problems. NEVER use this to travel with. I have had to use my visa along with the bank fees that go with it so very angry and upset. Never again.

Very disappointed
I thought this would be the way to go. Not a chance. Neither website nor app works adequately, both giving different reasons why I can't sign in to use my account, then when trying to make contact via the 1800 phone number you can't talk to a human. BAD BAD product, waste of time.

Fee charges with this card is so high
Easy to obtain and use but it seems that as someone else commented, upon only withdrawing three times it cost us over $130 aus dollars in fees/exchange rates differences. Never again with we ever ever ever use or recommend this card to anyone.

Ideal for short trip
Easy to obtain. No currency conversion fees, just ATM ones and that depends on which machine you use. Cheap to set up -- AUD15 to open the card and then free to load and reload between accounts.
We loaded ours with AUD before a trip to Bali. Withdrawing money was easy but Ubud ATMs have a $300 max which meant we had to withdraw in stages and that incurred more fees than we'd planned. The fees weren't huge (AUD3.50 per transaction), just annoying.
We had a problem through Australian duty free on the way home though. The card worked fine as an ...Read more

Dodgy
I used this cash passport on a trip to the US last year, and didn't have any dramas. Then I deactivated my card (but left the account open) and last week out of the blue received a phone call by someone claiming to be from cash passport (no caller id), and he was like "I'm from cash passport, I need to ask you some details about your account to verify your identity" - I thought to myself "that's odd, normally only when its you who ring them do you get asked to verify your identity", so I asked him what the purpose of his call was (twice) and he...Read more
couldn't give me a straight answer. I then hung up. Seems to me that this is not legit and that there's been a data breach at cash passport and scammers have got hold of customer details. To add to this I then received a letter in the mail claiming that my account was in negative balance - I checked and the balance is $0.00, not negative. Very dodgy. Luckily my card has been deactivated since I returned from holiday.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Excessive Fees and Charges
Used the Mastercard Cash Passport for an international trip several years ago and haven't used it since. Silly me kept a balance on there and money in two currencies. On discovering that I'd been slugged $4 for every month of inactivity (about 30 month's worth) I decided to 'cut my losses' and push the cash back into my Oz bank account. Needless to say, the Mastercard Cash Passport people made a further $300 (being 8 cents above the official exchange rate) on the exchange of $US back to $AU. Won't happen again.

high fees- multi currency cash passport
Had the old style cash passport which charged $4 for inactivity (of course most prob in fine print but unknown to me). I called about this and was told it is an annual charge. Was not happy but thought I had 12 months till another $4 charged. Happen to login, found now $4 per month fee charged. I thought the rep would have told me this was coming. Traveliing overseas isnt something I do often so this over a long period of time like 3 years comes to $144. Not bad for holding 1,200 Euros earning interest on. Cash passport cannot email system gen...Read more
erated statements to customers so they are aware. You can only request past statement copies not future . d. Again this would be in fine print also but too late. I am now locked in with my 1000Euros. Lose $ when I convert back to Aussie bank, only option. Cannot pay into my Euro account (free through Westpac) There are better products like Westpac dont charge. I called and requested help to transfer money to new Platinum product but that will cost $100 Australian dollars. Best option is to spend $1 in Australia, I should only have to pay for conversion so save me over $100. I know this is a business that needs to make money but the money is just sitting there.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Beware of fees and charges
Due to inactivity over a period of 18 months, my BOQ Mastercard cash passport card was debited A$4 per month and then converted at an awful exchange rate to Pounds. The negative balance does not show on MY ACCOUNT and is not visible due to lack of paper statements.
An email was received in November 2017 advising the card had expired or was about to expire. (Actual expiry was 1/17.)
Cash transfers to local banks cost A$10 and to close the card a positive Euro balance was converted at an exchange rate 20% above the "real" rate resulting a negat...Read more

Never again
If this is the cashpassport.com.au company, or the CashPassport Mastercard. Please don't use this service - it's the worst I've ever seen. I had money left on the card, their website never worked when trying to transfer the money back. Basically once you load up the card, the cash is locked in. When I tried to make a complaint, they made me jump through hoops and made it too difficult to lodge. I had no issues using the card, just terrible customer service, and I lost about $500 because I couldn't get my money off the card. I couldn't even use it on other purchases after I'd returned from o/s.

Worst ever!! Not worth the trouble!
While I was overseas I tried to transfer money into the card, however an error continued to pop up. Called their helpline only to have two staff hang up on me while being on the phone for a long period of time. No one from there helpline could help nor did they want to help. Ended up having to use my debit card. Please do not purchase this cash passport card.

Exorbitant fees!
I used this Multi-Currency Cash Passport in Europe with few fees or charges. However, when I returned home I transferred the remainder back to AU dollars to withdraw it and put it back into my bank account, I was charged nearly $60 worth of fees for 2 withdrawals from ATMs. That is exorbitant - $26-$29 per transaction... Needless to say I won't be recommending them to anyone. These fees were not charged by the ATM, but by MasterCard as 'ATM Domestic Country Fees'. What a joke!

Hi! DI Kent

Finally, after 47 phone calls, I regained the money.
You must be patient with this company.
Thank you. I did ring yesterday and they are investigating. Said 24 to 48 hours. Wish me luck
Di I apologise for not reading or answering your query about Mastercard {in itself an oxymoron} but my excuse would bore you. I was planning to complain to the Financial Industry Ombudsman but have procrastinated. If that is the same number I tried I would be curious how many menus you went through? Gerard
