I bought my fridge from Harvey Norman in 2016 and my freezer compartment rubber strips have started to come off and the cooling is not consistent ie didn’t cool and food would go off. Can I please get someone from Mitsubishi to help look at the two problems? Thank you

Could Mitsubishi Electric Official please answer:-
Is the spec for fridge housing width of 950mm + 30mm + 30mm = 1010mm critical for warranty?
Our fridge nook is in the midst of a bank of 600mm-deep cabinets. It has 955mm width and 600mm depth and a fully open top. I may be able to enlarge width by an extra 16mm or 32mm, by moving the adjoining cabinets. The clearance would then be 17.5mm each side. The sides will be unapposed for the front-most 265mm (865mm fridge depth + rear clearance, minus 600mm cabinet depth). Is it critical to have 30mm each side despite the top being open and the sides only partly- apposed, or is it simply to facilitate installation and removal? Will the narrower width of our housing void warranty?
Thank you.

hi. im not an expert but think I have the reasons for min clearance. i double checked this before installing mine. . From memory, the condenser can get very hot.and not operate correctly without adequate clearance and airflow. for example, if the confined spaces are too small, that air heats up, feeds into the freezing cooling mechanisms, making it overheat. I read this in the manual or priduct info somewhere..I dont know about warranty issues but its better to provide more space, than too little. hope that helps.

My unit is installed with very minimum clearance on one side & the back. Plenty of clearance at top & one side.
We had a service call relating to temp control & serviceman did not remark on the installation.
I made some effort to check temp at top & on low clearance side but it's just warm & often you can't detect anything! I think (I'm no expert) the clearances you describe will be fine but make a habit of checking for excess heat build up particularly on hot summer days.

Can someone please describe the finish on the white version of the Mitsubishi L4 Grande/Mini fridge?
I'm leaning towards white, because it looks beautiful in the pics & I'm wanting to brighten up my kitchen. I'm hoping that it has a similar look to white high gloss cupboards, or maybe even has the glass top finish, but I'm worried that it might just have the finish of a traditional white fridge & possibly look a little bit more dated than the stainless steel or the black.

Ours is white and the finish is like a hi gloss with a sparkle if anything i think the stainless looked more dated when they are side by side

Purchased December 2017. When I close the right side fridge door the right side freezer door breaks it seal and opens about 30mm. Do the doors have magnets and or something designed into the hinges that help the doors to completely close and seal?
The left side freezer door has something that causes a definite positive closing action from about 75mm open.

The doors have a slight lean to make both sides close 'automatically' (via gravity) when they are a few cms away from actually being closed. So your right hand door should *not* pop open if it is already closed. Use a bubble level or even 'phone app to check to make sure that the fridge is perfectly level - both front to back and left to right. the levels can be adjusted by the feet. If that looks good, and there's nothing inside the fridge like a bottle or veggies or something that is forcing the door back open then possibly the door itself is damaged in which case you should contact Mitsubishi.

Joe
Joe

Thanks for that but it was not the case. The hinges have been replaces and all is well.
Also the center door jamb that is spring loaded has been replaced as the bottom spring came out of its position.
Another problem was the spring coming out of position on the ice maker trays.
Apart from the above, I am extremely happy with the fridge.

My "mini" is quiet as the proverbial church mouse. To answer your other question, there are no trays as such but (as is the case with most freezers) the drawers are made from plastic. Not a bad thing as, frankly, glass would be way too heavy. Although they are plastic, they seem solid enough. The trays/shelves in the fridge compartment are tempered glass and seem to be built to last like the rest of this fridge!

Provided you are able to do a little mechanical work with a spanner and a screwdriver the doors are not difficult to take off and refit. I was able to do that at our place but it is not plug and play, you need to carefully record what you do to take off the doors and put them back carefully. A digital camera record of each step makes it easy to replace them and you certainly should make sure that the doors and parts are carefully handled when not connected to the fridge. You don't have to be an engineer but some skill is needed. John

I had to have the door replaced as their was a dent on it when it was delivered, I guess if you contact Mitsubishi they could do it for you at a charge. No harm in asking if they want you to keep their product.

We purchased a Mitsubishi French Door Refrigerator Model MR-L650EH yesterday. Once removed, the Energy Rating label on the door, has left a sticky residue. Please advise how to remove the sticky residue, as warm water, a neutral detergent and a soft cloth will not remove the sticky residue?

Yes I did not have that problem but mentholated spirits usually works but I would test it on the door surface first .

ninkasi

Assume you have fixed this by now, but for anyone else with a similar issue you can get a product called "De-Solv-It" from places like Bunnings. A small amount of that on a paper towel or cloth will remove that glue without damaging the surface. I also use it for removing the residue when taking off stickers from containers, gifts, etc. It has a citrus smell, but that goes away fairly quickly. Find the smallest bottle of the stuff you can find - it lasts for ages.

Does it work to store fruit and vegetables in one crisper? I am concerned because my current fridge has 2 crisper drawers and I use high humidity for veges and low for fruit which seems to work well. Would the lower dairy drawer be suitable for fruit storage?

2 answers

I turned the humidity down low as I was trying to trouble shòot why I was getting so much condensation in the fridge all the time, it stores fruit and veges well. The condensation in the fridge also went down when I did this however so did the hot weather so I dont know what stopped the condensation, the controller or the outside temp, I guess I'll have to wait until next summer now

ElleT

Thanks Ginny, good to know it stores fruit and veges well. Not sure about the condensation issue though. Is this a new fridge for you this summer? Do you live in the tropics? We are trying to choose between this fridge and a Fisher and Paykel french door.

To remove the door handles, pop off the "inside" of the piece of plastic between the round tubular handle and the fridge door. You will see a 'seam' along the top and bottom of this plastic piece, where it separates. I used a telephone/mobile/laptop disassembly tool: http://img.dxcdn.com/productimages/sku_24525_1.jpg
You will see two screws, one you can get to and one you can't because the handle is in the way. Undo the screw you can get to, that attaches the tubular handle to a 90Deg "L" metal bracket. Remove both upper and lower screws together of each handle holding the tubular handle, with care and assistance if required. Slide handle off metal brackets by pulling "backwards" like opening the doors. To take the remaining bracket off, there is just a single screw through the bracket into the fridge door skin. WARNING: This screw is straight into the material of the door skin. If you strip this thread re-fitting the brackets, you are _STUFFED_. The handle bracket will no longer attach to the door securely, and hence your handle is no longer attached to the door solidly. I used a torque limiting 2.4v electric screwdriver to re-attach them to ensure I did not over tighten them and strip the thread in the soft door skin. To repair this, I would suggest something like a 'nut-sert' >> http://www.avdel-global.com/en/products/threaded-inserts/thin-sheet-nutsertr.html which I consider Mitsubishi should have used in the first place, but obviously screwing a "self tapping" screw straight into the door skin material saved them 2c per hole in a $2000 fridge. :(

Oh, there are alignment "bumps" when refitting the "L" brackets, to ensure you get them 'straight' so the handles will slide back on straight. Ensure you have the brackets seated properly on these bumps before fixing with the screw .....carefully.

Hi Peeyush,
As far as I am aware there is no light in the freezer. I've never pulled the drawers out to actually check but for myself personally I find as the drawers need to come out to access whatever is stored I can see in an instant the item I need. if there was a light I think it would probably be useless once the drawers were full - items stored would block the light if it was there. Sorry I can't be of more assistance perhaps Mitsubishi customer service would be able to confirm there is no light.

We have bought this fridge 2 days. I saw all the review said it's a quiet fridge but we found this fridge is very noisy. At night watching tv, can hear the whole fridge noisy background. It's like a giant engine running in the kitchen. Why it's like that? Is not that supposed to be a quiet fridge?

I can hear my MRL650EH Inverter if I am standing next to it, and I think due to the Inverter motor drive, it runs more often than an old "classic" full on/full off style fridge, so you have the 'opportunity' to hear it more often. But ours is not loud. I have access to a dB meter that I could use to measure it if ppl wanted to compare, but with fairly good hearing, I can't hear it 3-4 meters away, line of sight, no walls, no doors, no corners. I need to be within 1-2m.
