MSZ-GL25VGD (2.5kW)

Can someone please confirm whether this 2.5kW unit has only one vent panel at the top and there is a gap at the bottom or it supposed to have two vent panels?
Thanks

I've just had one installed today in my office at work and it definitely has 1 panel only, leaving a gap at the bottom. It's a little weird actually, but as I haven't even turned it off yet, I hadn't noticed myself. It's early days for me, but I'm thrilled so far. It's doing its job very well, and very quietly.

Are they expensive to run 24/7 in winter on 24 degrees?

We just had a child, so the aircon runs about 18 hours a day set on 23 degrees
We've noticed a jump of about $15-20 to our regular bill (economy setting).. 5 star rating is great! (2.5kw)

Also a note, the cooling is amazing!

The power required to run the MSZ-GL71VGD (my unit) in heating mode is a maximum of 2.2kw with a maximum heat output of 9.9kw so the efficiency is 450% and the heat output enormous. Once the desired temperature is attained (23 degrees) the output and input will drop dramatically as the motor is an inverter. Anything you run 24/7 will cost but no other heater will match the efficiency.

Standard electric heaters either bar, convection or oil filled have a maximum efficiency of 100% or less so would cost up to 10 times more than the aircon unit for the same level of heating. These heaters only run at full power so you would have to have them on a thermostat to stop & start them. The best you could achieve would be 500% to 600% more expensive than the MSZ-GL unit.

MSZ-GL Series

Just bought a mitsubishi 3.5 MSZGL35VGDKIT for my bedroom.I am wondering if I made the right choice.

1 answer

The 3.5 is the right size for a normal sized bedroom and the GL series is super efficient and very quiet. (latest model for 2016/17)
IMHO I think you have made an excellent choice.
I am in Brisbane and have learnt the best approach is to get the installer to supply the AC unit as well as install.
My preferred installer/supplier is Wattec.
