Cheap and cheerful
Picked up a 2016 base model 2 liter manual for a good price. Up to 17000kms.
Motor underpowered needs reving to go anywhere. Problem is greater with a/c running. Clutch makes clicking noise after 5k. Gearbox notchy supposed to get better with age. Ride can get jiggly over smaller bumps.
Fuel Economy is ok regularly get under 8L/100kms around town. Using castrol edge 5w30 full syn.
Seats are comfy for normal driving and everything works so far. Easy access in engine bay for servicing etc.
Also my Chinese smart phone won't connect to Bluetooth. Samsung works fine.

Great family car
I have had the car since july 15
(2wd ST manual)
It is a very safe car and the trace control is great on slippery roads even though it is 2wd,it brakes individual wheels to keep you on the intended course.
I did have a problem with the HSA (hill start assist) for a few months,it felt too firm to try take off and would stall, but then not start again.
after a few months it must of "loosened up" as it now does not do it.
It is very thirsty in stop start heavy traffic which it could of done with stop/start ignition (up to 15l/100)

Love my X-Trail
We owned a Nissan Navara, never had an issue with it, but I wanted a smaller car so we purchased a 2015 X-Trail.
Absolutely love it. Great to drive, nice zippy little car. Great interior and I thought it was a great price.
Great road handling, awesome on fuel.
I grew up with Toyota's... But am definately a Nissan convert.
Hubby even drives my car over his Navara!!

The right fit for us
We did a lot of research before we bought this car in January, and had done several test drives of competitor SUVs. Our previous car was a 16 year old Nissan Pulsar which had served us faithfully, but no longer fit our expanding family.
Our main criteria - it had to fit in our garage (so no large SUV for us), but had to fit 3 child restraints and associated kid paraphenalia. It was easy to make sure it did the former, but the latter was harder to assess. We can now confirm that a Maxi Cosi capsule, an InfaSecure Luxi Ride (0-8 years) and a...Read more
Safe n Sound Maxi Guard SICT (6 mths - 8 years) fit across the back seat. If you try to fit a convertible booster between the capsule and Luxi, you won't be able to reach the seat belt to buckle in, so you do need harnessed car seats. The X-Trail is comfortable to drive, easy to handle and accelerates beautifully on the open road. Around town the blind spot takes some getting used to, but the reverse camera makes parking so easy. It's also the only mid-size SUV that has air con vents specially for the kids in the back row. Prox-key entry is brilliant, especially when you have you hands full of kids or shopping. On the downside, the boot could be bigger if it wasn't for some of the fancy plastic moulding on the side, and the cargo blind does hang in the way, but these are minor issues. The pram and all our luggage for a 5 person weekend holiday can fit comfortably in the boot.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I like to add that, with the fuel consumption.
this vehicle can be frugal,in free flowing/somewhat medium traffic. ... Read more
The high consumption is from idle traffic. i have test driven the cx5 (for quite a good spurt) and the difference being, the cx5 feels muted all round in power (2.0L manual),but the xtrail will actually give you that power when you put the foot down, the cx5 will not. the drawback being,if you plant it,you use the fuel,if you drive normally, then you get under the claimed fuel usage. More on the cx5, The cx5,if it had a larger boot (just had a child) we would of bought it,it felt more poised,(i gave it the berries in the royal national park on a stormy wet day for more than an hour) it felt more refined, gearbox was the best i have ever used. it has a 7inch infotainment with jog wheel, upgradeable safety pack/and gps (xtrail has none of this) xtrail feels better in the seating dept. mind you. Cx5..for no kids... xtrail for kids....
