Fantastic - best suction ever
Fantastic - powerful suction - simple design.
I use on both carpet and hard surface, accessories are brilliant and the power mode with extra suction really pulls the carpet up and removes dog hair - dont wast money on more expensive vacuum cleaners - love it and the bags are not too expensive

The Best!! So reliable and efficient
I've had my Henry for about 5 years and wish they were more commonly available Australia as I would recommend to anyone looking for the sort of reliability and efficiency that Henry provides. So easy to move around and so easy to use - My only wish is that we had a Henry at work as well so I didn't have to struggle around with the old useless one we have there now.
Henry's are common place in the UK and trusted by so many - What a pity Australia hasn't caught up yet!!

I love Henry
I bought my Henry about 25 years ago when I worked in a hospital and saw them being used there. Hasn't missed a beat since, and I love it that I don't have to keep buying vacuum bags. Henry hasn't got any bells and whistles, but who cares - he works like a Trojan.

No nonsence, great workhorse
I have seen professional cleaners lugging around one of these in hospitals. I bought one and I think it has been one of the best investments. Although it does not have any fancy attachments, it has great suction and does not draw as much power like other cleaners. The motor is quiet compared to other more expensive / similarly priced cleaners (under $300).

It sucks! But in a good way!
I wanted a relaible vacuum cleaner and enquired at my local vacuum seller and repairer. He recommended the Henry as his best selling and most reliable vacuum saying that of all the vacuums he sells these are the most reliable. At around $400 it was more than i was wanting to spend but desperately needed a vacuum and did not want a bad one. I would gladly pay that price again if my Henry were ever to "die"! This vacuum has no fancy attachments, no turbo head that gets clogged with hair, no fancy cyclonic action and filters that need pulling out ...Read more
and cleaning every five minutes. The design is basic but the suction is powerful even on half power. It has large bags which last for many months at a time. You just plug in, turn it on and off you go. Powerful suction, very large bags and easy clean filter, very long cord (I can almost vacuum my whole house from one power point) and of course the friendly smiling face!Similar opinion? The best vacuum cleaner
My brother-in-Law in the UK has an industrial cleaning business, and uses nothing else but Henry machines, which rarely break down, and have had the same parts for years, so he uses old parts from other machines. I had difficulty buying one over here, and 10 years ago ordered one from Perth for our theatre construction store. It has heavy use, and still works perfectly. I have a new Hetty at home, and am impressed by the dual power levels, which is great for vacuuming carpets. I would recommend the Henry to anyone wanting a reasonably priced efficient and reliable machine.
Very reliable, large capacity, inexpensive, parts dont wear out.

Great
Have to agree with the other reviewers, this is a vacuum cleaner.
Our first Henry died after about 8 yrs so went to retravision & was enticed by the fancy looking models on display. Bought an LG (possibly this style is all the same). From day 1 it was poor in suction & required constant cleaning of it's many filters.
After only 8 months we were fed up,not something that should happen with a basic item like this, went back to a real vacuum cleaner store & bought another Henry.
He is so basic he works.
And cute.
Value for money-cheaper than the last one, simple, works

I love these vaccum cleaners and swear by them they are so easy to move around with and reliable... I will never buy another brand of vacuum cleaner again.

I've actually got Henry's sister Hetty because they didn't have a Henry in stock when I was buying. I clean other peoples homes and was looking for a replacement vacuum in place of my Miele S291. The Miele is a great vac but the bags are small capacity and cost a lot of money, which is fine if it was just my house but they fill up too fast and I go them too often when doing others, so it was expensive to run.
Henry has better or equal suction compared to the Miele, which was my first requirement. The bags are significantly cheaper and they are...Read more

Bad
I have two vacs, one for upstairs and one for downstairs, in my terrace. I bought this as a replacement for an upright Hoover. Dismal failure on my downstairs medium-pile carpet: I felt like a galley slave, sweating in the heat of a Sydney autumn day. This unit requires serious effort to push the head along the carpet. I was doing more work than the vac.
However, upstairs is a different matter: short-pile sisal carpet, lots of nooks and crannies, and many flyscreens to clean. The long hose and wand are great for thost sort of things.
This...Read more
is an excellent vac for all sorts of oddball vacuuming tasks, where you need a long reach. Clean your mantlepieces, behind the washing machine, get rid of those cobwebs, clean the flyscreens, vac the kitchen floor. But if you want to do carpets, get an upright. Simple, no-nonsense, and robust. Very hard work on deep-pile carpets. Lacks features such as onboard storage standard everywhere else.8 comments
If it's hard work vacuuming with Henry (or any vacuum, for that matter), you need another floor tool. Either with wheels, or with a rotating brush (turbohead). Then Henry will do all the work, and not you.
I take your point coffscleanerworld, but: "wheels, or with a rotating brush" and onboard storage-- that's the definition of an upright, isn't it?
I should also have mentioned that the Henry, while... Read more
the body is small, consumes a huge amount of space in my built-in, thanks to the long and unwieldy hose and separable parts. Think storing a garden hose in your wardrobe. In theory, if you really, really carefully wind up each time you use it, the hose will consume no space at all. But reality doesn't work like that, and you invariably end up with a mass of plastic all over the place.Yes, it does sound like an upright. But there are certainly floor tools available that make a pull-along vac as easy to use as an upright: ie. turbohead (rotating brush head).
If you can store the... Read more
vac hose hanging up, rather than curling it into a cupboard, it will prolong the life of the hose...and clear up the space. I keep my vac in the garage: machine's on a shelf, and the hose, wands & floor tool hang next to it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Which model is the best and is Henry good with animal fur? I have been through a LOT of vacuum cleaners and sick of it! I have used a Henry in housekeeping so know they are good but not sure what they are like with pet fur! I have 3 cats in at night and outside some of the day and a dog that comes inside in the evenings.

We have the yellow henry. We have 2 dogs 2 cats and 4 kids and I don't have an issue with hair.
We don't have animals but I bought a secondhand rug that had dog hair in the flat tight weave, I assumed I'd have to pull each one out by hand but I just used Henry and it was all picked up.
