Excellent service and recommended
Recently switched to RAA after 20 years with other insurers. Unfortunately, my laptop (which is essential for my work) was stolen last weekend. I felt terrible about claiming so soon after taking out the policy, but RAA were absolutely superb and the ladies who assisted me were first-class. Speedy, zero hassle and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend them.

Not the RAA we used to know
RAA home and contents insurance are a joke. Good policy but their underwriter IAG are all idiots. After a recent breakin followed by damage from a burst water plumbing they sent an assessor who was thorough and quoted correctly for damages he can see and expect. This was followed by another assessor which estimated a much lower figure to fit their own estimate. This led to lots of discrepancy as all the contractors later found more damage as expected by first assessor. Been 8 months now and when we complained we ended up being watched and inter...Read more
viewed by their private eye investigator which is a total idiot. Essentially, if you live in a not preferred street and you are Asian, might as well don't bother insuring with RAA. They treat honest people like criminals. Will be cancelling all of our policies with RAA and no more of their BS.1 comment

Poorest customer service ever!
I submitted a simple claim over 6 weeks ago and it has still not been resolved. Their customer service is awful. I have spent literally hours on the phone trying to initially make and then follow up my claim. They do not call back when they say they will. How are you supposed to finalise a claim when you can't get any response from the company?

Amazing Product From An Amazing Company
Recently purchased a property and had RAA upgrade the current alarm system. We now have it monitored by cellular and doesn’t need a home phone line. This also gives us an "App" to turn the system on and off as well as check the logs of when the system was armed and disarmed.
As we have pet's it was critical that we minimise false alarms using Pet Immune detectors, so far I am over the moon! Not a singe false alarm.
The system was installed with care and any extra holes left from the old panel were patched up by the tech. He also had his o...Read more
wn vacuum and cleaned up any mess that was caused by the work performed. We had one minor system tweak we wanted done after installation (the zones bypassed when we are home/sleep) and this was organised with a minimum of fuss. While it wasn't resolved at the first appointment, they organised another person to come and make the change. Both of these appointments were organised at no cost to us. We are now very happy, save 30% on our contents insurance and feel even more secure in our home.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

RAA are not an insurance company, they are IMA aka insurance Australia Group Ltd (IAG)
You will never deal with an actual RAA employee. They will all be IAG once a claim has been made.
These guys are crooks. 26 months post fire and still nowhere near settled. They started with one page repair scope of works, then 1.2 pages. Sat on that for four months. Got one of their experts in who did a fair job, and created detailed 16 page Sow......then they ignored it. Watered it down to fit their preconceived figure.
We have detailed info showing that they created the payout figure prior too any costings. Also companies that have never ...Read more

complete nightmare!!
I cannot imagine a worse experience. My house was broken into more than three months ago. The front screen door and wooden doors were smashed. I had no less than six people come to my home for various quotes and inspections. My door was barricaded with ply wood for safety - meaning I couldn't use the door - not to mention fire safety issues. 7 weeks and many complaints later - a temporary door was installed. It is now 14 weeks since the break in and no repairs have been done AT ALL.
I asked to be paid out so I could do the repairs myself - t...Read more
he value of the pay out fell by more than a third immediately. It took more than eight weeks for any agreement on key electrical items to be replaced and I need for work!! Every small bit of progress takes a multitude of emails and phone calls. I am very distressed and stressed. Do not go thereSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Building and Contents Insurance
Sadly as an existing RAA member and having purchased numerous previous products from the RAA I was very supprised to find out that even with extensive customer loyalty discounts the RAA building and contents insurance policy was still more expensive than the major alternatives.
Whilst they do provide these discounts it is very deceptive and pointless when after they are applied they are still upto 30 percent more expensive.
As such i have cancelled my purchased policy and moved elsewhere.
I Contacted the relevant Manager seeking an ...Read more

Worst Customer Service - Insurance claim
Had a legitimate claim for ring lost and was made to feel as though it was a bogus claim, Staff rude and unhelpful, very unprofessional. Only got outcome once I took case higher. They are happy to take my premiums but when it came to claiming I had to fight the whole way through. Very disappointing service

Immediate approval on first phone call
On behalf of my elderly mother... rang them and told them of a bathroom mishap resulting in a water damaged vanity which they said was covered, and to send pics and quotes. No other calls were made apart from one week after pics and quote was sent in, only to be told a cheque was in the mail. Check arrive 2 days later.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE
I have made a couple basic home insurance claims with RAA recently. For both claims I have experienced rude, snarky, unhelpful customer service from staff with bad attitudes. I told the relevant staff members I was unhappy with their service/attitude but their response was that they didn't care. A couple of friends have told me they have had the same experience. As a customer I expect much better and since RAA doesn't care, I am now looking to take my insurance policies elsewhere. As a RAA member who is normally impressed with their other member services I am very disappointed.

1 month for approval
We were broken into, arrange for the assessor to come out to process our claim. Had to have photos or receipts for everything we wanted to claim, which was hard seeings all our photos were on the stolen laptop! Was questioned about a few of the photos, implying they weren't genuine items of ours which I found rude! Then told it will take at least 1 month for the claim to be processed :/ way too slow!

Claim with RAC insurance- terrible experience
Genuine mistake by specifying the wrong model of the phone at the time of insurance, 6 months later, phone lost, sorry can not claim as the gitis do not match. Being accused of trying to cheat did not help. Interestingly at the time of adding an item to those to be insured I was only asked a bare minimum questions, only at the "claim time" additional info was requested and this is when it was revealed that I supposedly provided mismatching details about the items. Yes, I used RAC for the last 22 years for home and car insurance, never had any ...Read more

The assessor cancelled over the next two week period, finally arrived . Found out about 2 months after claim that my daughters possessions were not covered under so called home and contents insurance. My daughter is a student and is paying off this new computer ($1,000) and why didn't they tell her that her stuff wasn't covered on the first visit with assessor. Very helpful
We had our car broken in to one night when it was parked out the front with my handbag in it. Our car insurance only covered up to $500 with a $350 excess so we used accidental loss on our home insurance and clamed back nearly $1600 with a $100 excess to pay (designer handbag, camera in glove box plus my sons DsiXl and games).
The people in the office (Modbury) were really helpful and made it so easy taking away alot of the stress i had expected. The people on the phone were a bit rude and abrupt but the office staff more than made up for i...Read more
t. The only advice i can give is to scan in to your computer all your reciepts fortunately we had done that with most items and the rest RAA replaced from JB HIFI with similar/same items even posting them all out to us, which was great being right on top of Christmas. All up the process took no longer than 3 weeks from theft to pay out and replacement, have been with RAA for many years now and cant think of a reason to change. Good at first, went downhill fast
We switched to RAA home and contents as well as car insurance (2 cars) 18 months ago. The first 12 months was fine with no issues. Then in May I sold one of the cars, rang them and informed them to cancel the car insurance, they said it was done. Then we receive a letter a week later saying our home and contents was canceled (not the car), quickly rang them and confirmed it was the car we wanted canceled, not the house, they apologised and fixed it. A month later we receive another letter telling us AGAIN they have canceled our home and content...Read more
s insurance, we opened the letter on the weekend and no one was able to help as their insurance office was not staffed, rang them Monday, was hand balled around before they released they had made another mistake and reactivated it again. We were losing confidence in them by now.. Then a few weeks later they sent us a updated policy, the car I sold the previous month was still insured.. Rang them again, and went over the situation, they said it was fixed again. Finally the last straw was the day before our overseas holiday we again receive another letter from them saying all of our policies have been cancelled thanks for been with the RAA.... We just switched to AAMI after that. We made a complaint but were just told they were having 'software issues' no apology or any 'we're sorry' letters. The amount of hours wasted on the phone to them was astronomical, for a company they prides itself on trust we felt very let down by them. Good at first, prices are competitive. Hopeless billing system, multiple problems with their customer support staff, bad communication, insurance office not staffed on weekends (apparently)Similar opinion? great customer service
Quick processing for claims and upgrades over phone and emails.Paperwork of amendments arrived quickly. Very competitive and no excess applied .It's a shame not available outside SA. Also cheap transit and accident insurance available when moving interstate for 14 days. A lot cheaper than any removal company can offer. No complaints or grievances.
affordable,no excess, good customer service

Excellent
I have had my home and contents insured with RAA Insurance since we buitl it 15 years ago, fortunately I have only had to make one claim in that time but when I did it was quick and easy and all done over the phone. As we have purchased new appliances or made additions to the home RAA make it very simple to call and add any extras at any time and the paperwork for confirmation was sent to us in a timely manner. We also have extra accidental cover for our contents and still RAA were competitive.
Friendly and competitive

In SA which loss adjuster do you use in the event of a home insurance claim?

Natalie W.asked
Is my lost/stolen mobile phone covered by contents insurance?
3 answers
Hi Natalie I can’t answer that question, you will have to ask them depending on your policy. If they say no, don’t take their word for it, read your policy and double check. We found them appalling to deal with. They went to extraordinary lengths to not pay a small, valid claim. They eventually paid it as it was very clearly covered under our policy and we started action with the Insurance Ombudsman but the whole experience was very unpleasant. We were lied to, they withheld evidence when we asked for phone recordings which proved what we had told them, they even retrospectively changed a policy! We cancelled our policy with them and are now insured with a much more reputable business. I strongly suggest you find another insurer. Imagine what would happen if you had a big claim!!!
If there is nothing on the phone to identify you, they will probably reject your claim. Try to claim it and if rejected complain to the Ombudsman. I have found them helpful. I am still waiting on a resolution re my lost keys. Have sent them quotes but have no reply yet.

Hi Natalie, depending on your policy and options you've chosen your mobile phone could be covered. The best option would be to give us a call on 8202 4567 so we can check your policy for you and provide advice on how to make sure you're covered for the things you need, like a mobile phone or laptop etc. Kind regards, Laura
